Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I volunteered last year and I never saw any security people at the entrance/exit. I also never heard about a dress code and one of the guys I camped near walked around in a Speedo. It seemed to me to be the same as not volunteering rule wise.
there was a security guy at the entrance were you drive into the vol parking area, there was one from sunday-sunday. I never heard anything about a dress code?
and this was posted on fb today:
Hi Volunteers! You have not missed any emails, we are pushing the start of volunteer registration a bit this year as we do a little restructuring on our side to better serve you guys! Past Vols will still have a jump start Information to follow as soon as we have everything ready. Thanks!

I was joking with ENEMY about the dress code. He wore a Borat thong last year. There's no dress code that I'm aware of. Although between ENEMY and the guy you saw, maybe there should be.
did anyone sign up to volunteer with feel good foods?
I did and got a response and info about sending 1/4 of a $250 deposit. I'm waiting to hear back from Clean Vibes before I make a decision between Feel Good Foods, Clean Vibes, and just volunteering with Bonnaroo.
Solid man. Thanks for the info. What kind of jobs are there? Pretty much everyone just walks around and picks up trash? Also, what kind of food did they provide you? Im imagining at that point on the farm food would be tough to come by?
Would it be okay to wait and try to sign up for pre-fest through Bonnaroo, or should I apply for post-fest through Clean Vibes too?
I think I'll probably apply for both, just to have more options. Right now, I'm hoping to do Wakarusa > Roo, working during-fest production at Waka, then head to Roo.
But you're supposed to check-in Sunday for pre-fest, so I probably wouldn't be able to get there in time, unless they'd let me come in Monday instead. I've already got my app in for CV post-Roo.

You walk around in ridiculously hot direct sunlight bending and picking up trash and cigarette butts in a line for 10 hours each day. It absolutely sucks, and you'll probably swear you'll never do it again, or at least that's what we did and then managed to sign up again for this year. I think a lot of it depends on what leader you get, we had some lazy rude woman who essentially did nothing but was terribly anal and in full on slave driver mode about everything we did.
Truthfully the food was actually pretty good. Breakfast burritos were definitely the highlight for me, but they also fed us wraps that weren't too shabby either. Basically just things in tortillas and chips and water and/or vitamin water. They cater so it's not a matter of buying food or anything, it's included. The water was probably a bit more sparse than we'd all have liked, but relatively regular water breaks were taken although they could have planned better with regards to ice. I'm thinking knowing what to expect and bringing a camelbak this year will make it much, much easier.
Truthfully it's also pretty cool being some of the only people on the farm in the end and you're welcome to leave and go get whatever supplies you might need at that point.

I'm not sure this would fly. We checked in on Sunday and we had to get our credentials and our assignment. The Volunteer staff was there to meet us in a tent in a parking lot. After we checked in there were nowhere to be found until orientation. Some people had jobs that started on Monday morning. With the amount of people they are dealing with they don't really have the time or the resources to make special arrangements for one person.
Last year when I was checking in volunteers, there were alot of kids from Waka that came to vol for Bonnaroo. But they were all During fest.
I'm assuming no previous year volunteers got an email for this year yet? also assuming we will get an email asking if we'd like to come back this year?, or do we just get priority when we fill out an application?
i'm pretty sure we get priority because on the facebook page it says to be expecting an email sometime this week, so i'll be on the lookout because i definitely want to return as a volunteer. my only dilemma is that i transferred schools and my old email no longer works, and i sent the volunteer people an email letting them know my new address so i'm hoping they replaced it in the system!
funny -I just got an email: We are excited to announce a new partnership with Shimon Presents and their Work Exchange Team (WET) for Bonnaroo 2010! We will be providing more information about this year's volunteer program on the Bonnaroo volunteer page. All returning Bonnaroo volunteers will be given first priority at volunteering - check your email boxes next week for information regarding the WET program so that you can confirm your spot on the Bonnaroo team! All others interested in volunteering at Bonnaroo for the first time can sign up on the Bonnaroo Volunteer page to receive email updates and application information.

Well this is the best news I could possibly imagine from my viewpoint. I've been wishing Shimon would take over the Roo volunteer program for a while. I've volunteered with them five times at three different venues, and everything was great.
Of course different people have different experiences, no matter who you're dealing with, but I really think this is a positive step for the Bonnaroo Volunteer Program.
Everyone I've been involved with at Shimon has been great to work with and I have no complaints about anything to do with working with them. I hope that any of you who've had less favorable vol gigs with them in the past will give them another chance. I think you'll see that any bad experience was the exception, not the rule.

"For First Time Bonnaroo Volunteers: Please sign up below to receive more information about becoming a member of the 2010 Bonnaroo volunteer team. We will send you an email when the application becomes live for new volunteers.
For Returning Bonnaroo Volunteers: Bonnaroo will be sending you an email in the next week with detailed instructions on how the WET program will work as there will be a few changes from the traditional Bonnaroo volunteer program. All returning Bonnaroo volunteers will be given priority in applying and securing spots. You will be given a 2 week window in which to complete your Bonnaroo 2010 application. After this time period the application will become live for all interested persons."
Should we be worried? I wonder if they'll still have pre-fest/during-fest... Interesting...
The Shimon WET application normally lists the days pre- during and post-fest that you can volunteer for, and you tell them which days you'll be available.
The tree spot is the best camping spot in the whole volunteer area. Well it is if the vol camp in in the same spot as it was last year.
Last year when the pre fest volunteers showed up Sunday morning we were parked in the back of the vol camp. In that row there was this one spot that had a tree. The tree provided almost constant shade and the ground under it was pretty flat. I stayed in this spot and throughout the few days when it was just the pre-fest vols we decided it was the best spot to have. My neighbors would come to our camp and hang out in the morning before our shifts.
If you have ever been to Bonnaroo before you will know that a camp site with a tree is hard to come by.
So that is why I call shot gun on the tree spot.
I believe that me and Levi will be racing to the farm in order to get the spot. But I will win.
Actually if I get there first I will be more than happy to share the spot as it is big enough to place a few tents there.

i may try n volunteer pre-fest, since i'm off work after 4pm on sunday until the fest starts... although relaxing before the fest may be a better idea. lol.

If it's like last year, I think you'd have to be there by midnite Sunday nite to do pre-fest.

yeah werd, as stated above - the night after Bon ends they let the volunteers leave to go get more supplies. So there's that option...but as also stated, for breakfast you get a breakfast burrito, a piece of fruit and water and coffee I think, lunch you get to pick from some pretty good wraps and some small assorted stuff, and dinner is up to you. (Hence them letting you leave the site for supplies the first night)
i volunteered last year and got a great job...i had to sit in the cinema tent for a total of 8 hours on thurs and fri and then was free for the rest of the festival. i had to miss the beastie boys (probably my #1 for the weekend) but still had a good time...last year, i probably wouldnt have gone unless i got approved to volunteer (which i did), but this year i would definetly buy a ticket. this is a cant miss year for me...i am going to volunteer again and hope i get approved, but i really dont want to miss any shows this year...any thoughts on whether i should buy a ticket or just suck it up and take a chance with missing some shows while working? i hope this new company (WET) isnt too anal about the whole experience...i only live 15 min from the farm so i cant justify not going to bonnaroo!
