this thread is great for reminding me why i'm not volunteering this year. it's such a cluster of confusion that after a 10 hour drive, i'd rather not deal with. I needed a tarp last year, and realized after i'd set up my tent pre fest. the guy at the gate said it was cool if i left, so i did. when i got back, the guy directing traffic got all mad finding out i'd left, and threatened to kick me out and not let me receive my deposit back. luckily, none of this came to fruition. good luck volunteers this year, it's fun and all, but i'd rather not deal with the unorganized madness this year.
Yeah, I decided not to volunteer this year. I'm just gonna buy a ticket and have a fun non-stressful weekend. Too bad I have to take a 24 hour greyhound trip
I'm approved and deposit is in for my pre-fest spot.
Mr. Steak, you do realize that this is a completely new volunteer program, right? I'm quite sure they decided to do this after the mess last year. It is my optimistic hope that this year will be more organized than last. I'm going to give it a try anyway.
As far as not being able to leave the site, last year you were allowed to leave on foot, but not with your vehicle. Can you blame them? They were very clear about this in all the info they sent before the fest. I'm sure we'll get more details about this year in the upcoming months. A Walmart shuttle would be nice, but I could easily get by without it.

I hope this years Volunteer setup is better than last years. It truly blowed big time. I saw clean vibes only a small handful of times during the entire festival and several people who were supposed to be "working" were in the Fuse barn recharging their cell phones.

Based on any past experiences, what do people think the chance of getting approved for pre-fest is if I didn't have priority for apps since this is the first year i'm trying to do it? I'm going down with two friends of mine, we all signed up as soon as the app was available for us, and i'm sure we'll have the deposit in the day its open to us. Do they do first-come-first-serve when it comes to applications or just when the deposits get in? I really want to do pre-fest but would work during if we absolutely had to.

I just finished reading every single one of the nearly 1,000 posts on this thread.... Thanks for all of the background info!
I applied as a first time volunteer (and first time Bonnaroo'er) on Saturday, Mar 27. I got my $25 in and now I guess I'm just waiting to hear. How long did it take you folks to hear back?

If you had stayed after the festival you would have seen Clean Vibes all over the place. We seriously worked like crazy post fest.
it took the full 2 weeks that they said it would take to hear that i was approved to work...just assume that they will take the full amount of time they told you...i am just wondering if they are going to tell us before the check-in what jobs we are going to be assigned to...i applied to work a tollbooth, but haven't heard what job i will be doing...last year we didnt find out until we got there to check-in...
I really hate the way they are doing this. By this time last year I knew I was a pre-fest. This year all I have for me and everyone else is an accepted letter. I need to know for sure when everyone is volunteering so we all can book off of work. Just because we all signed up for pre-fest doesn't mean we all got it.
I sent an email and they said they will tell us when the deposits close. So does that mean May 2nd. That's total crap.
Boo to WET. I hope they get better. So far I am very displeased.

Yeah thats crappy, me and two friends got acceptance letters and no specification as to when the shifts will be. We all requested pre-fest so we need to all be doing the same shifts (Pre or during) or else we're kinda screwed. Wonderful.
So i have been watching the Coachella coverage and their interviewing WET volunteers and well.......... it doesnt sound good. Apparently their over staffed and unorganized... but theyre t shirts are cool lol
im keeping my fingers crossed that they get theyre act together b4 bonnaroo

They sent out e-mails determining whether or not people were accepted for volunteering, but didn't specify what shifts. I e-mailed them and they said they'd let us know on May 2nd, which leaves us a whole lot of time to figure shit out considering May 3rd is the deadline for withdrawing the deposit
Looking back through the thread I see where pre-fest confirmations were sent in late March for returning volunteeers.
Received word from WET that they will not begin scheduling until the deposits are "run" on May 3rd. I assume they did not want to start slotting folks for pre-fest until they knew folks could afford to make the deposit but this delay makes it tough for scheduling time off. I'm sure there are applicants who would have liked the option of not volunteering if they did not get acceptance for pre-fest....I'm hoping that everyone will get e-mails on May 3rd so the planning for food and supplies can begin (big difference 7 days vs. 5 days).
yeah, because of this crap my party will not be volunteering. If they can't even give me an answer as to what day I have to be on site then I can't do it.
Instead of dirt and poison, we have rather chosen to fill our hives with honey and wax; thus furnishing mankind with the two noblest of things, which are sweetness and light.
doesn't seem too much worse than last year...at least we know what we are going to be doing before we check in...last year, i had no clue what i was going to be doing until i got there on tuesday...relax people, it's getting close!
anyone have any new news? i heard that we were supposed to hear what we are scheduled for today and tomorrow was the deposit day, but i'm still yet to hear anything
