Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Hahah I call everyone ma'am, even the little girls at the school where I work at
I'm pretty jealous that I don't get to see the Walmart Hookers! But I do live in Alabama, and there are a lot of those at my local Walmarts haha.
I've been to Voodoo Fest a couple of times, millions of concerts, and my annual nerd-fest, Dragon Con. I've been waiting years to go to Bonnaroo, I cannot freaking wait.
I was all excited about volunteering. I really want my boyfriend to go this year but he doesn't want to pay the money for a ticket. He seemed down with volunteering to go for free.... until we noticed that you have to pay a $275 DEPOSIT UP FRONT. Sure, they refund you if you work the hours, but that kinda defeats the purpose!

I will be leaving the Washington DC area on Tues the 8th and driving across I-66 to I-81, to pick up I-75 in Knoxville and finally I-24 in Chattanooga to Manchester (Bonnaroo). If there are any volunteers looking for a ride, I'll have room for maybe two if you can help out with gas. I plan on making the drive down in one day, and the drive back in one day as well.
So I saw on Facebook that they're now accepting more applications... Seems kinda weird when people already got denied and lost their 25 bucks or whatever it was.
Hi all... I have been approved as a tollbooth volunteer.. can someone that has been a tollbooth volunteer in thew past please tell me what the dizzle is. So- you camp in one place on wed night and Thu night and then have to move to general population camping Friday when you are done working your toll booth job, but have to leave your car in the lot? Here is what my e-mail reads-----
Toll Booth volunteers are required to camp at the West Toll Booth location for the duration of your work days (up until your last shift is done, no later than Friday, June 11th), after which you may move to camp with the general Bonnaroo patrons (however, your car will need to stay parked in this lot).
So we have to carry all of our stuff?? HELP someone please explain!!
The e-mail says you may move if you would like, but you are not required to move. I was assigned tollbooth last year on thursday evening but they had an outside company working with the actual wristbands. The regular volunteers were paired with one of these people and helped give trash bags/guides/etc. I guess this year its probably different since we're working with WET so i'm not sure if it will be the same. Also last year there was no specified camping for tollbooth vols, we all just camped in regular volunteer camping. I am a little weary about working tollbooths this year because I really want to be able to see thursday night acts, which i'll probably miss due to tollbooths only running wednesday-friday
Soooo i checked prefest but i dont believe they've sent me an email confirming that...any way to find out what your position is??? <<<btw ima n00b sryz
have any during fest volunteers gotten anything telling you when/where to go to check-in on Wednesday, what time, directions etc? My last update was 5/21, anybody get anything after that?

Try calling them on Tuesday at the number listed on their website.

I'm pre-fest and sent an inquiry last week on when we will get another e-mail with check-in instructions. They replied back to look out for the e-mail this week. I guess with the last minute need for more volunteers they will wait until Wednesday or Thursday to send out the details on check-in.

I haven't been on here for a while and I'm disappointed to read about the problems with W.E.T. this year, esp. after I said that they were easy to work with in the past. I guess it'll take a year for them to get things running smoothly. Bonnaroo is a much larger and more complicated fest than most of the ones they usually work.
Ironically, I'll be working with Clean Vibes post-fest this year, so I'm not even involved with W.E.T. I had planned to work pre-fest, but couldn't get my deposit to go through before they opened registration up to the public. So I didn't want to take a chance on getting during-fest and went with Clean Vibes. So far, I can say that the process has gone smoothly. I should be getting a ticket in the mail next week. Then I'll just come in Thursday, like a non-volunteer. On Monday after Roo, I'll have to move to Clean Vibes Camp, then work 10 hr. shifts on Tues. and Wed. I just hope it isn't 100 degrees or pouring rain all day while I'm working.
I'll be back with W.E.T. for two fests in Live Oak, FL this Aug. and Nov.
I promise, things will run much smoother for those fests than they appear to be with Roo this year. (although it appears there's some confusion on the website about the actual dates for Black Water at this point).

^You're lucky, because last year Clean Vibes had a lot of issues, particularly after the fest was over, which I wont get into. They've really stepped their game up this year, and I'm happy about it. The food order emails, etc. Really good improvements.

Ugh, me and the lady got assigned toll booth because we never updated our preferences after getting the e-mail that pre-fest was full. Do you think WET has any flexibility with changing shifts to during-fest or am I pretty much screwed? I know that while volunteering i'm going to miss some acts anyways, but Thursday looks great as does a lot of Friday. That's not as much the issue as moving campsites. Does anyone know where camping is by the toll booths in comparison to a Centeroo entrance?
The idea of having to carry my campsite somewhere and not being able to move the car is frustratingly disappointing.
i also got approved for a toll booth and am so excited because i won't miss anyone that i was planning on seeing...do you all think we will have to work wednesday night? i worked last year, but was in the cinema tent. i know they start letting people in on wednesday night so i was planning on probably having to work then...we will have to have a "toll booth" party since we will be isolated from everyone else, and also because wednesday is my birthday!!! i am planning on just camping at the toll booth the whole weekend, doesnt look like it will be too far of a walk going by last year's map...so who all do we have that is working the toll booths?
So I just got accepted after they reopened the WET applications again but I'm a little oblivious as to what exactly I need to be doing come next Wednesday -- I have a few questions that, if someone could answer, I'd GREATLY appreciate.
1. Will I have to print out a ticket or something to show that I'm a volunteer or just bring an ID or what? I feel like this should be answered somewhere but I haven't been able to find it.
2. Will I know my work schedule before I get there or do I find this out when I check in?
I guess those are the only ones I remember being concerned about, but I'm sure there were more! I'm soooo excited but a little nervous about the details so any info would be wonderful! (:

Since this is the first year that WET is running things I can only speculate how the check-in and scheduling will be handled. In a recent e-mail from WET, they said During fest vols will be allowed access to the farm and then check in at one of the PODs. They should be sending you details on what entrance to use on Wednesday and what will be needed for identification. I'm fairly certain you will be given your work schedule at check-in. You'll have a great time volunteering!

1st year volunteering and SUPER excited... been trying to get a few details / influence my department placement with WET, but they seem to be swamped with logistics... either way, schedules will be coming out soon.
so what departments have people worked in the past? what have you ended up doing? i find it weird that they let you pick the department you'd like to work in, but offer no descriptions of them.
last year, i "worked" the cinema tent...only had to do two 4 hour shifts on thrusday and friday, but i don't look for that to happen this year...all i did was sit in a chair beside the emergency exit and tell people they couldn't go out through it...it was sweet, air-conditioned, and i got to watch the movies...had to miss the beastie boys though, that was the only downfall...working a toll booth this year though

First time volunteer here, went to the first three roo's but haven't been back after that (mostly a money thing). Few questions:
I didn't get the deposit in quick enough the first go-around but did get it accepted the second round...but aside from getting one email saying the deposit was accepted, I haven't heard anything about when to show up, what I'll be working etc. Has anyone else from second round heard anything back? Sounds like pre-fest is full from what I'm reading here but so far nothing official.
How far is the vol camp from centeroo?
Any older folks in the vol squad? I'm over 40 and kinda set off people's cop detectors; I'm hoping volunteers will be a little more accepting than some of my previous camp neighbors ("GTFO redneck!" is not my idea of peace and love).
Any camp jams? I usually bring a drum and a washtub bass.
i just heard back from WET regarding the 2nd round volunteers - they are currently at wakarusa, and i was informed that they have personnel processing applications and making the necessary schedule arrangements - i inquired about when i could expect detailed information on my work assignment, and they suggested that correspondence should be distributed thursday, though they specifically stated that this was not a guarantee - just that they are doing their best to get their ducks in a row, and will contact us as soon as possible - hope that helps!

tnx folx
I'm 35 so I'm reaching the "older folks" classification. Sorry to hear about your experience with the redneck yellers. That might be one of the most un-'roo things I've ever heard.
This is my sixth year going but first year volunteering. I'm glad to hear that lack of correspondence from WET is something everyone is experiencing. It was starting to make me a little anxious.
I'm assuming I'm going even though I haven't received anything yet like maybe instructions, a map etc. did we even sign a waiver this year? Just checked last years emails and we got all the final info in 6/1
Hey all, just wanted to say hello. I've attended roo in 06, 07, and 09 paying my way, but this year is my first Volunteer year!
I was accepted in the first round and got my deposit in. I have not been notified as a pre-fest, post-fest, or toll booth volunteer by WET so I'm assuming that I'm during-fest.
As I understand it during fest volunteers checkin Wednesday between noon and 4pm at Pod 1 (unless otherwise directed). I'm coming from central Iowa and planning on leaving Tuesday early morning and getting to Nashville by Tuesday night - then heading up fairly early Wednesday to beat traffic and get there a bit early.
If any other during-fest or toll booth volunteers need a ride from somewhere on the route from Iowa to Roo, let me know by PM. I have one spot left in my car and if you're willing to chip in for gas (split 3 ways in a honda civic) I'd be more than glad to pick you up.
I hope we hear something from WEP today or tomorrow with more details.
Both my friend and I signed onto be volunteers early on. We both figured we could work pre-festival, get to chill at the festival for a few extra days then have the actual festival free without work.
Turns out my friend got tollbooth and I got during festival. The thing is, I don't want to work during the festival. Its obviously too late to get a refund for my deposit and it looks like I'm stuck.
Is my only option to show up on Wednesday as if I'm going to volunteer, but then not show up to my shifts? I'm okay with eating the cost of the deposit. Will I still be allowed to camp in volunteer camping or will I be banished or something? Do a lot of people do this?
Sorry, I just can't miss any of the festival for a shift, let alone three.
