I sent an e-mail inquiring about the same thing as travelinbeat - whether the "accepted" really meant accepted. Here is the response that I got.
"Yes you have been accepted to the team. We are still finalizing needs of the festival and will let pre/post vols know if they are chosen soon. During fest check in is Tuesday June 5th.

Woohoo! Sweet news! Accepted:) I have a quick question for y'all: how do you request to work with friends? Will that choice be given after we receive our acceptance email?

My very identical inquiry received an identical response from the same person =)
yep. acceptance emails went out. said deposits are coming soon but not quite yet. Have to link your account to facebook, get deposits in, and then request friends to work with via the Facebook connection.
It sounds familiar that last year they asked you to or just ended up taking 1 at check-in at the least. when i logged into my WET account, it had my pic from check-in and I remember uploading 1 online before then, I think.
Acceptance emails were vague... If I applied for prefest only does that mean Im accepted for prefest? I wish there was more info- maybe only time will tell. Can anyone shed some light on when we will know details of our work exchange?

Answers can be found less than a dozen posts ago, on this very same page even. Up at the top, in with all those posts that you scrolled past to ask this question. ;D
I'm going by myself too! The only thing that I'm worried about is keeping all of my water, beer, and certain food items cool all weekend. Last year I went with a group in an RV, so it wasn't an issue.

Just submitted my deposit, and my waiver is signed! Now we wait to see if we got the shifts we requested-- anyone have any clue when that may come out?

Ditto. And regarding your question...

For the record, in case anyone else is planning on moving out from volunteer camping to meet up with friends...
"Hey James,
You will be able to move once the GA tent camping has opened to patrons. You will not be able to move your car however as this will create traffic issues.
thanks,
Kylie"
There are multiple reports here on inforoo. Some people have told me that we can't exit until 8am on Thursday morning and others have told me they have moved their camps as soon as wednesday afternoon. This should clear things up in case anyone was confused
I recently was accepted to volunteer at bonnaroo but I put that my preference is to work pre-festival. My summer internship starts in one month from today and I really need to inform my employer what days I need off in advance. Can you please let me know if I have been accepted as a pre-festival volunteer or not?
Thank you for your help."
Kylie:
"Hey James,
We are still finalizing the needs for the festival and should be letting people know soon (coming weeks) if they were chosen for pre-fest. Make sure to submit your deposit to be considered.
Application: check, acceptance: check, deposit: check. Now just waiting to see where I'll be working. I asked for the Brooer's Villiage and asked what my chances were of snagging it. Someone named Kylie sent my a photo of a snowball laying in hell, just kidding. On the acceptance page it had certian qualifications: carpenter, electrician, cook and a lot of others. I did not see alcoholic, so i put dowm my real world job which is Security. Please do not let me be one of the A-holes I complained about in 2008 and 2009.

Get you a couple of decent coolers. Coleman (not a shameless plug) has a 5-day. In the Roo heat it will not take long to kill your ice. My second year I brought some dry-ice and packed it on top of a few bags of regular ice, it last maybe 12 hours longer. There will be ice vendors set up in certain areas also. Just bring some pints of blood or first born child, it gets expensive. Seems like it was 3.50 for a 7pd bag in 2009.
This is my seventh consecutive Bonnaroo, but my first volunteering! I'm so excited I've been reading the boards for a solid month now, trying to garner as much info as possible; thought it was time I finally popped on here and said hello!

I just got an e-mail to "opt-in" to pre-festival but it's on the condition that I do pre-fest set up (i.e. manual labor setting up fences and other stuff in the hot sun all day). I was hoping to get something else -- what are y'all going to do?
I would love to volunteer for part of Roo. I already have a ticket and would like to help out if they want me.
KLM, you can volunteer and get your ticket for free! They don't offer refunds for the ticket if you are accepted to volunteering later on (you have a very good shot at acceptance) but you can sell your ticket that you already purchased online or to a friend.
Bonnaroo runs the volunteer program through this organization below:

My understanding has been that pre-fest volunteers often work much harder than during festers (this is my understanding and my observation and my experience). Years past have seen prefesters spreading mulch for 10hrs, engaging in serious outdoor carpentry, lifting rocks, etc. Prefesting is, for the most part, potentially quite a bit more physical than during. I went ahead and designated prefest. I made some cool contacts last year with the festival's decor lighting folks and I'll be calling / texting them once the festival gets a little nearer. (I do special event decor lighting professionally). Prefest is certainly a bit more grueling, but it's absolutely awesome... just to have the opportunity not only to see the festival come together, but to actually be a part of it... it's incredible. Worth earning a bit of a back ache. This year I'll be bringing some work gloves and a basic lighting tool set (C-wrench, wire cutters, etc). I would encourage all prefesters to bring work gloves.
