Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Ellie, did you say you have received the details of your job and shift. The last email I got from WET was that my deposit was paid. I'm getting a little nervous.
I got a recent email that i got tollbooth and check in details. I don't think they're done yet but if you're worried shoot them an email. Wet@workexchangeteam.com
no clue. possibly do it when we get them at check in, but we didn't have the RFID last year (just cloth wristband) so not sure how they'll handle that.
Hey guys! This year will be my first year at Bonnaroo and my first time volunteering. I was accepted to work mid fest, but my three friends were accepted for during fest. Now I have to decide whether I should keep my shift or switch to theirs. WET also offered to switch us all to post fest, but I have to go back to work after Roo. Mid fest pros: miss less music, make new friends because I'll be working alone Mid fest cons: not working with my buddies from school (but I'll still camp with them, right? Only toll boothers have a separate campsite?), long shifts of hard work During fest pros: working with my friends, easier work in more manageable shifts During fest cons: possibly miss bands I want to see
Second, I think it really depends on your personality and preferences. On one hand, I would say that you will be able to see your friends after bonnaroo, but bonnaroo is a once a year thing. I'd do midfest simply because it allows for viewing more shows. On the other hand, maybe this trip is really about having an experience with your friends and the music is secondary, in which case I'd go with your friends.
Isn't a friends request more of a time issue than actually working with the friends? I thought I remember reading that you wont be guaranteed to work right alongside each other, but at least try to have the same schedule so when you're off duty, you guys can spend time with each other and whatnot... so keep that in mind also.
and yes. midfesters camp in the regular volunteer area with during festers. Only tollbooth is separate. I'd say stick with midfest and then you can know next year if you want that or during fest based on you and your friends experiences. I knew friends last year that did during fest but none of them are doing it again (at least of the 2 coming back again). There's a lot of variety of the areas you could work in and artists you could run into, etc...but missing music and having that constant time commitment throughout the fest doesnt seem worth it to me, which is why i chose tollbooth. I considered midfest at some point, but personally figured I can deal with possibly ending 9 hours later but not wanting to be guaranteed to do set-up type work in the heat. *shrug*

Quick question about volunteering: I submitted my application, but never received a confirmation e-mail if I got accepted. I went on the WET website, and it said I could make my deposit. Does that mean I'm accepted? I don't want to make it and then they tell me that I didn't make it and I can't get my money back. Also, do I find out/pick my position after I submit it? Thanks!

I'd send 'em an email-- WET has been awesome about responding.
I would have to assume that if you can make a deposit, than you're good to go, but I'd email them first anyway.
In your application there were options that allowed you to select your work preference, however your position is determined by WET ultimately, and they will let you know which "department" you've been selected for, and your shifts aren't assigned until the day you check in.
Me too! I was originally during fest, but when they sent out an email a little while ago claiming there were still a few open tollbooth spots, I responded almost immediately. I would even be happy at this point knowing if I got that!
You should know if you got tollbooth or not, so email them if you're not sure. Sounds like prefesters get their shift times ahead of time, but the rest of us wait. I don't think I was aware of that until now
How do you keep your Tshirt from smelling bad if you have to wear the same one for 3 shifts without a washing machine? I've been wondering about that. Did anyone just hand wash theirs and lay it out to dry until their next shift? Dumb question, I know.

No one cares. Just wear deodorant. Even then, you'll still get hot and sweaty. People will be understanding. Some people cut their sleeves and whatnot to give more airflow and make it their own though.

Haha! I knew that it was a dumb question, but I had to ask. I didn't want to be the stinky one of the bunch!

I vol'd in 2007 and 2008. I'd take mine off and kinda rinse it off. But, no one will really notice. By the second day we're all a little "funky". I'm on the verge of being a clean-freak. So, being a vol allows you free showers. I'd take a couple a day.
There are 2 sections to see the Bonnaroo info on their site... do you at least see where the schedule section itself is? cause the quick view on the right column is not where it'd be and maybe that could confuse some people. Since I'm tollbooth, that section says unless otherwise noted, schedule would be given at check-in. I guess for prefesters (or most at least), the schedule would be posted in there.

Any midfesters get an email yesterday about doing tollbooths?? My friend and I did and we're kind of bummed because now they are making us camp in the tollbooth camping, we can leave after our shifts on thursday though and go to general camping or volunteer camp. I guess I can't complain because we are done by thursday night and won't miss much of the fest.
Previous Tollboothers: have you moved camp before or is it easier to stay? Do you end up getting a decent spot when you move camp? Any other advice for a new tollboother. (last year we did during fest and worked with clean vibes)

I did tollbooth last year. It was awesome. I didn't end up switching camps, because I had settled into my "home" already after almost 3 days (Tuesday - Friday). A few people actually moved into Tent Only as soon as it was open, instead of waiting for their shifts to be over. They had a "base" close to centeroo, but their car was still in tollbooth (you can't move your car). So basically you can camp wherever there is space for your stuff, but you have to walk it all over there, or get a ride on a golf cart I guess.
the main volunteer camp isn't that much closer to Centeroo, and is definitely further from the main campground craziness, although the BFEs near volunteer camping are really cool too. I'll be out there in vendor camping this year
you could also try to find and set up in Camp Inforoo in Tent Only
