Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Hey all! This will be my first year volunteering, 4th year attending. I am also on the Access Croo during show. I just can't wait to be back on the farm! I will likely be flying solo, and coming in from Ohio. Can't wait to meet some wonderful people through this new experience!
Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself after also lurking around for a long time on here. It's my first roo, first time volunteering (during show artist hospitality), driving solo from OH.
Completely down for a meet up/drink up/explore around kinda thing, and look forward to meeting y'all!
Hey Y'all! Anyone in the Boston area (or further north) driving down and need another passenger to split costs? Not sure what Croo I'm on yet but I think I'll have to be there the 11th anyway. Looking forward to it!
If you guys could shoot me a PM with the following, we have a Google Doc spreadsheet (including locations everyone's coming from) that can help out: - The email you want to access with - Your first name - Phone number (if you wish to share) - Location (let me know if you live somewhere different than where you're leaving from to head to Roo) - Facebook url (If you wish to share) and - If you haven't shared it already, the C'roo you've been assigned (that's how we're grouping people on the spreadsheet)
We have several people from Ohio and Massachusetts, so maybe you guys can help each other out. Some may not have space, but I'd say look them up on the spreadsheet and send them a message to see.
They asked for access through the old link to the Google Doc in this thread, and emailed them 2 days ago asking who they were. I've yet to hear someone named Gina speak up in here recently (I think). For safety's sake, I've taken her off the list until I receive a message back to make sure she's a volunteer. If this is you, speak up! (and please give your details for the list!) Thank you!
So ill try and keep this short but basically I'm planning on traveling with two friends who are both volunteering and got assigned durring the show and I got pre show. Does anyone know if it will be possible to swap with someone doing durring show who would rather be preshow? Preferably keeping my position at artist relations.
I know that you can switch shifts once the schedules come out in may, but I'm not sure if you can switch from prefest to during fest at that time. You should probably contact them directly. I'm sure they can work with you since there is a demand for prefest shifts.

Hey so me and my two friends are during show which I've mentioned before, we plan on bringing a pretty big tent, possibly a 21 by 11 ft so people can hang out in the tent and possibly a canopy to set up outside the tent to shade anyone, our biggest concern is we don't want to step on any toes by taking up too much space. We're from Missouri so we have a good amount of camping gear we could use instead, but ideally we'd use the big tent. Are there any space restrictions in the volunteer section?
The same restrictions as regular roo'ers...about 20x10 next to your car. Are you all riding together? If you brought two cars than you have more space for the campsite. Maybe caravan in with some peeps and share the space...

It really depends on how much space overall they allocate to volunteers and what's left by the time your group arrives. The 10x20 boxes marked off are supposed to be enough space for everything including your car. The folks managing the parking will want you to stay within in box as much as possible to make sure there are lanes between each double row of campsites. That said, you could certainly try working out an arrangement with your neighbors to accommodate the big tent.
Things change each year so who knows what we'll be given space wise this go around. Back in 2008, it was a land grab in a fenced in area. The big tent certainly could have worked but at the expense of leaving less space for others.
lol does anyone want to caravan in together? Also could we park our car elsewhere and use the space sans car?
You could certainly try moving the car elsewhere after setting up the big tent. We're pretty much free to do what we want in arranging cars/tents/ez-ups once all the volunteers have been checked in as long as everyone has space to set up a tent and the lanes are open between the rows. Finding others to caravan in with would be your best option since you arrange the vehicles to give you a big area to set up camp and keep your car close by.
lol does anyone want to caravan in together? Also could we park our car elsewhere and use the space sans car?
Depending on what time they want me to check in, I'd definitely be willing to caravan with you all. At this moment I have zero equipment and the largest thing I plan on bringing is an ez-up & a cot so I should have plenty of room.
If you guys are willing to wait for others and meetup at check-in location (Coffee County Central HS most likely) or another set location at a specific time, I'd highly recommend caravaning in together and parking next to each other and make a nice group camp. Share your canopies and whatnot for those that can't afford 1 or don't have packing space for 1 (like those flying in). They didn't let us on the farm until 2pm or so, if I remember correctly (at least for 2011 I think. 2012 we were too late and had to wait for them to open the gates for tollbooth camp), so some people were sorta forced to just stay at the HS and hang out, play frisbee, etc. Make sure to get your shopping done beforeyou check-in unless you're checking in first thing in the morning or something. Be prepared to wait in a long line once there. If you get on the grounds after they close the entrance (which they didn't warn us about! grr!), you have to wait a long time until they unlock it and get security there to search your cars.
I'm sure I'll post this later on when more people know if they're volunteering and whatnot.....but If anyone's passing through the DC area Monday morning (or willing to), I'm trying to work out a caravan from northern VA, as I've done the past 2 years. Also going to mention again I'm looking at hotels within an hour north or east of Manchester to stay at Monday night (since we won't want to drive overnight and wouldnt make it on time if we left Tuesday). I have a list but waiting on check-in info and 2 more friends to get assigned a C'roo to start making more detailed plans with that. Message me if interested...I've made a Facebook event to get everyone together. I'm willing to do the caravan situation for those in tollbooth/parking camp, if we can agree on a good time. Nothing too early in case people need last minute shopping/alcohol trips, lunch, etc.
I'm so eager to get more info about check-in and whatnot... lol We still have a lot of time until the application deadline and whatnot though.

Hi all! First time poster and volunteer. Second Bonnaroo! Super excited to do it again 6 years later! My friend, Melanie, and I will be parking cars. Excited to meet up, make new friends and have a great time! We will be coming from Corpus Christi, TX. Possibly have a seat available for carpooling!

yay for more parking volunteers! welcome! Me, zacd (my bf), Mink and some of his friends are all in Parking from here.
I searched hostels a while back. I think there's 1 in Chattanooga too, and even though it looks kinda cool/fun, it'd actually end up costing a little more that way, I think. Nashville's kinda out of the way for us though. I'm avoiding going past Manchester (mayyybe can deal with Murfreesboro if a good deal) and going any further than Crossville. I'm thinking Chattanooga, Monteagle, or McMinnville areas. Monteagle and McMinnville are about 30-40 minute drive away and have Walmarts there, I think, so that may work out well. I may stick with Chattanooga if we can check in later in the evening (I'm used to 2pm end time for toll booth, but not sure if they're doing that again and with Parking. I think I read it depends on your last name or something)...and we could sightsee real quick in the morning or something. Lots to see/do there.
If the Minister's Treehouse was open in Crossville, we'd totally make that our pitstop, I think, but it got shut down. Safety concerns for the public, I guess.

*Facepalm* lol Idk why I didn't register the fact that you were coming from the East Coast lol excuse my slowness

It's ok! Technically, it shouldnt be too much further away when you plug it into Google Maps, and I looked it up to check if rates were worth staying there at 1 point, but...I don't trust it. I figure we don't need to go farther west than Manchester and whatnot. With food and gas stops, it'll take enough time to get there as it is.

Ellie, There are several less expensive hotels along I-24 in Chattanooga such as the Motel 6 and Best Value Inn that you might find to be good options for you. The Tiftonia exit has several hotels and has a Wal-Mart for any last second needs. HOWEVER, you should be aware that our local Riverbend Festival (another very large music festival) is going on that same week, actually June 7-15, so some of the hotels may be filling up already. You might have already checked out the Monteagle hotels. There are a few up there, not exactly the Ritx, but they would suffice. There are also fast food places and convenience stores as well. There is also a Roy Acuff Inn at the Jasper exit between Chattanooga and Monteagle which should be pretty decent and probably fairly inexpensive. Good luck! Let me know if you need info on anything you book in this area.

Thanks on the heads up/advice, David! I've been looking around but have a hard time being decisive, lol, and I want to make sure 2 of my friends are going to pay their deposits and whatnot in time to make sure they're joining in on the hotel.
Let's see...some of the hotels I've got saved are Super 8 Monteagle, Best Western in McMinnville, Scottish Inns in McMinnville (but my gut says Best Western is a better choice there), Best Western Plus Arbour Inn & Suites (a little farther but looks really nice and not over $100 still), ABVI in Chattanooga (2 locations), etc. I've saved the TripAdvisor reviews for most and need to see if any of them help narrow down the list. I don't want anything too pricey (under $100 total per room) and hopefully has breakfast included to make Tuesday morning easy. We've stayed further out in Crossville before (because of the treehouse) and then the year before we've stayed at the ABVI in McMinnville.

Sounds like you've got good plans Ellie! You should have plenty of options around Chattanooga, Monteagle and Manchester for under $100. I would agree based on my experience that the BW would be a better option than Scottish Inns. If it were me, I'd have a hard time driving that extra 40+ miles roundtrip from Manchester to McMinnville with all the other options, but with the distance you're coming from I'm sure that's not that much extra. One of the ABVI locations I believe is at the Lookout Valley or Tiftonia exit right by the interstate. You'd be in Manchester in an hour. I definitely agree on the "free breakfast" option! Automatically decreases the cost of the room when you figure you don't have to pay for breakfast the next morning. I've wanted to see the treehouse, but I haven't been to Crossville in several years.
Good luck and let me know if you need any help here!

It actually ends up not being extra time if we go to McMinnville. Instead of heading down to Chattanooga and then up north of Manchester to there, we just go on I-40 west near Knoxville and then go south that way, since we're coming from the DC area. Without considering stops for gas/food/etc, Google says it's about a 9 hour 15 min trip to both McMinnville or Monteagle. 1 just goes west towards Crossville and passes Sparta and whatnot and the other stays on I-75 and goes around Chattanooga. In fact, Monteagle is about 30 more miles of a drive, apparently. So...they're essentially the same as far as time goes. Chattanooga's just a little bit farther from Manchester for Tuesday morning check-in and whatnot but less drive on Monday could be nice. Hopefully they'll give us more check-in time info soon...and I can use that to know if we're ok in Chattanooga or should stay closer. In the meantime, I need to narrow down the list a bit more. Thanks again for the input! I think I'm at least going to take Scottish Inns out of the list. I dont even know if they have breakfast (or at least a worthy 1) My gut is saying BW locations are more reliable so I might end up at 1 of those this time. Less chance of faulty showers, smelly rooms falling apart, bad breakfast options, etc.
Oh and i found that other hostel I looked at before: www.crashpadchattanooga.com/ cheapest is $27 + tax for the bunk rooms. Cute place but I think we can get away with more privacy and less cost per person in a hotel.
So...I tend to be a visual person and thought that maybe it'd be nice to have a map of where everyone's coming from. So I played around with Google Maps and this is what I came up with from the info I have on the Google Doc: Bonnaroo 2013 Volunteers Map
There are some people I don't know their locations for still and 2 people I know their state, I think, so I didn't tag them on the map since I still need their city. This may help see who's around you or on your route to Roo if some of you want to/can work out rideshares.

So during-show volunteers have to be on the farm on Tuesday and once we check-in, we can't leave at all? I only ask because there's a show in Nashville that night that I kinda want to see REALLY badly Trying to make it work if possible.

I'm not sure. I think Ellie might be able to help. Oooo what show?!

Hey Amber! Last year, they advised in an e-mail to volunteers "THERE IS NO RE-ENTRY ONCE YOU HAVE ENTERED THE FESTIVAL SITE!" but I know some of the pre-fest volunteers were able to make a quick trip to Wal-Mart on Monday and early Tuesday. Trying to get back on site late Tuesday or after midnight could be difficult since Security may have the back entrance locked down after a certain point.
