Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So during-show volunteers have to be on the farm on Tuesday and once we check-in, we can't leave at all? I only ask because there's a show in Nashville that night that I kinda want to see REALLY badly Trying to make it work if possible.
I'm not sure. I think Ellie might be able to help. Oooo what show?!
Just a little up-and-coming artist that is doing a small tour. He doesn't play very often and isn't coming anywhere near the State of Florida
Yeah. I've heard of a special shuttle that pre-show volunteers could take, but it's not a guarantee. They seem strict about not letting people leave, unless it's an emergency or something.

I'm guessing you might have orientations and BBQ and stuff Tuesday night too...so hopefully since they're nearby they'll be a cafe act *crosses fingers*
It's interesting seeing how all of us are in the eastern half of North America. I guess it's understandable since TN is in the east (Bonnaroo 2013 Volunteers Map)
Hoping some of you use the map/Google Doc to help each other out for rides! Save on gas/mileage and make new friends! Several of you in FL, MA, TN, OH, etc...I especially noticed several in Boston and Orlando. Even if your car is full, could be fun to caravan and follow each other and whatnot.
I searched hostels a while back. I think there's 1 in Chattanooga too, and even though it looks kinda cool/fun, it'd actually end up costing a little more that way, I think. Nashville's kinda out of the way for us though. I'm avoiding going past Manchester (mayyybe can deal with Murfreesboro if a good deal) and going any further than Crossville. I'm thinking Chattanooga, Monteagle, or McMinnville areas. Monteagle and McMinnville are about 30-40 minute drive away and have Walmarts there, I think, so that may work out well. I may stick with Chattanooga if we can check in later in the evening (I'm used to 2pm end time for toll booth, but not sure if they're doing that again and with Parking. I think I read it depends on your last name or something)...and we could sightsee real quick in the morning or something. Lots to see/do there.
If the Minister's Treehouse was open in Crossville, we'd totally make that our pitstop, I think, but it got shut down. Safety concerns for the public, I guess.
Ellie, beware on Monteagle/McMinnville area. A friend of mine hesitated a week and the price per room increased by 25%. The closer it gets to Roo, the more they will gouge. I'd try Cookeville.

Hmm. I'll doublecheck the links I have saved. I know that advanced purchase is the best rate right now, usually, and I think there's that rate until 2 weeks before the reservation date. I have AAA too, so that should help for some too. *checking right now*

Caravaning is an excellent idea. As far a following each other, that is great also. Back in my day we called it a "convoy". Youtube it, it's a corny but funny tune. Good thing about a convoy is that someone can play the "rabbit". There are a few speed traps on I-40 between Knoxville and Nashville. PM me as we get closer to the date and I'll tell ya where they are. I'll be getting on I-40 in Knoxville and would love to tag along.

I use the Waze app for navigation/gps and it tells you where people have reported police (and accidents/traffic/road closures/etc). I encourage everyone to give it a shot for a while. lol I was just talking about the difference between carpool and caravan earlier today. I figured caravan was the proper word for more than 1 car. Carpool to fill 1 car.
My two friends and I are volunteering pre-show support and we're coming from Milwaukee. We're taking the megabus to Nashville though, and will get into Nashville around 8 or 9 am sunday morning, any other pre-show volunteers who would be willing to pick us up from the megabus station and give us a ride to the farm? We'll be packed pretty light, a tent plus a backpack and probably a duffel bag each. PM me if you're interested, we're more than willing to pitch in for gas/share whatever is needed!
I just remembered some of you were asking about checking in with your pre-show friends and you were during-show... did anyone email/call and get a direct answer about that??

Hey madbird,
I'm doing pre-fest as well but will be coming into Manchester from Charlotte. Be sure to post your ride request in the "This Tent" board as well.
Make sure you tell the folks at check-in you are without a car and ask if they can provide anything to show the staff directing the volunteers to their campsites that you need to be given an open spot to set up. May be best to e-mail the volunteer coordinator about this in advance to save time and hassle when checking in on Sunday.

David, now you're talking! I greatly appreciate the cell phone and cool apps now, but there was nothing like road tripping in a convoy and talking on CB's. I even had a "handle". Ohhhhh, good memories

Be careful Dana, you'll give our ages away, . "Well, we shot the line and went for broke with a thousand screamin' trucks and eleven long-haired Bonnaroo volunteers in a chartreuse mirco-bus".

Been lurking for a long time on here with very few posts, but have been looking lately into possibly volunteering this year. Was really sad I missed out on pre-show, but I see during-show is still available but not in all categories. It seems Access, Support, Info/Pods, Parking, and Toll Boths seem to be the only ones left. Was thinking of going with access with parking as a back up. Has anyone here ever done access. I looked through many of these pages, but 72 is hard to look through completely. Any recommendations on this? Thanks in advance everyone!

I got toll booth which was second choice. I've heard Access is great/ Keep us posted Jim Morrison,
I think its been recently said that access may be at a stage/tent sometimes to help with the accessible areas, which is nice if you're working during an artist you like playing there. You can kinda watch and work at the same time.
Parking is nice since it's guaranteed done by Friday night. If doing that, prepare for sunshine and walking a bunch.
Keep in mind you can't prioritize your Croo choices on the app. It doesn't ask what's your top choice, 2nd choice, etc. Just prefers you check off top 5 Croo choices. I only checked 2 off with no issues. Got parking but toll booths was my other choice. I think tolls were pretty easy and fun, but I stuck with parking since it had the guarantee to end by Friday.
They're pretty nice and accommodating if you want to switch and it's available though. The sooner you get your deposit in, the better.
Sounds like you've got good plans Ellie! You should have plenty of options around Chattanooga, Monteagle and Manchester for under $100. I would agree based on my experience that the BW would be a better option than Scottish Inns. If it were me, I'd have a hard time driving that extra 40+ miles roundtrip from Manchester to McMinnville with all the other options, but with the distance you're coming from I'm sure that's not that much extra. One of the ABVI locations I believe is at the Lookout Valley or Tiftonia exit right by the interstate. You'd be in Manchester in an hour. I definitely agree on the "free breakfast" option! Automatically decreases the cost of the room when you figure you don't have to pay for breakfast the next morning. I've wanted to see the treehouse, but I haven't been to Crossville in several years.
Good luck and let me know if you need any help here!
David
It actually ends up not being extra time if we go to McMinnville. Instead of heading down to Chattanooga and then up north of Manchester to there, we just go on I-40 west near Knoxville and then go south that way, since we're coming from the DC area. Without considering stops for gas/food/etc, Google says it's about a 9 hour 15 min trip to both McMinnville or Monteagle. 1 just goes west towards Crossville and passes Sparta and whatnot and the other stays on I-75 and goes around Chattanooga. In fact, Monteagle is about 30 more miles of a drive, apparently. So...they're essentially the same as far as time goes. Chattanooga's just a little bit farther from Manchester for Tuesday morning check-in and whatnot but less drive on Monday could be nice. Hopefully they'll give us more check-in time info soon...and I can use that to know if we're ok in Chattanooga or should stay closer. In the meantime, I need to narrow down the list a bit more. Thanks again for the input! I think I'm at least going to take Scottish Inns out of the list. I dont even know if they have breakfast (or at least a worthy 1) My gut is saying BW locations are more reliable so I might end up at 1 of those this time. Less chance of faulty showers, smelly rooms falling apart, bad breakfast options, etc.
Oh and i found that other hostel I looked at before: www.crashpadchattanooga.com/ cheapest is $27 + tax for the bunk rooms. Cute place but I think we can get away with more privacy and less cost per person in a hotel.
Ahhhh....Never thought about you coming down via I-40 rather than coming through Chattanooga. Sounds like you know how to get where you're going!
I've never heard of this hostel. Didn't even know we had one around here. But yeah, I agree.... I think you could get more for less elsewhere.
Yup I think we're gonna stick with McMinnville for hotel. Easy drive straight to Coffee County Central HS (about 40 minutes) and a Walmart 5 minutes around the corner.
Hey there, I'm volunteering for the Clean Vibes C'roo post-fest, and thought I'd extend the invitation to give anyone between Tennessee and Minnesota a ride. I'll be travelling from the Twin Cities through Madison Wisconsin, central Illinois, along I-39 and I-57 to Tennessee. I have up to 6 seats available in my minivan. I'm 25 and really easy-going as long as you pitch in to help with gas. Hope I can help you out! I posted on rickyrides.com and here in the travel forum as well

if you're post-fest, do you have to even be there early/on Tuesday? Or do you go in like normal and just stay late (which is what I thought I read)? I think I remember coming early was possible last year, if you wished, but not required.
Here's a map of everyone's locations I've received so far: goo.gl/maps/bgJnc If they're listed as pre-show, they have to be there Sunday. During-show's check-in is Tuesday. (but keep in mind, Nate, you're the only post-fester I've seen in here so far. Hopefully more can speak up. It wouldnt really work out well for rides if others had to leave Sunday/Monday and you're not leaving for several more days)

I'd go with Access because you'd still be in the center of all the Bonnaroo action but Ellie makes a good point that Parking is done by Friday. Both are good choices.
Parking would be my preference over Access since it would guarantee not missing any shows from late Friday through Sunday. I see having been to Bonnaroo before so you know how hot it can get during the daytime. If there' a chance you'll have trouble with the heat, Access will be the choice to avoid burning out before completing the last shift on Friday.
Ditto on the heat issue. Personally, I can handle both. On my real job I search cars and trucks (no I'm not a cop, lol) for 12 hrs at a time. However, given a choice between the 2 I'd take access. With access there's a good chance you'll be under some type of elevated covering. Plus you get the chance to see an artist that you didn't think you'd like cause you working at that venue.
Hey all! Recently switched from Support to Parking...decided that the guarantee of being done by Friday (and closer camping) was worth it. Looking forward to meeting everyone!
