hey i was wondering since i plan on volunteering during pre-show and i know you got to be there on tuesday. i was wondering i have a friend who plans to come but doesn't wanna volunteer since he thinks he might miss shows or sleep time. so question was can he come to the farm with me early and camp?

Pre show volunteers have to check in the Sunday before Roo, and I'm like 99% sure that they don't let volunteers and regular fest goers come together...you can go meet up with your friends and camp with them once they get there, though.

we mentioned this on the facebook group just recently and it *seems* like only GuRoos can bring in during fest volunteers with them. *shrug*
Hey there Bonnaroovians! My girlfriend and I will be first year volunteers this year so I went back on this board yesterday to around this time last year to observe the process that everyone went through from apps to Roo. First I'd like to say, you guys are all wonderful people. Just sitting back and watching the list of two or three peoples assignments turn into an amazing community was almost like reading a good book. Ellie, you're awesome! (So, short-term, hardcore lurker.)
That being said, we put in our apps yesterday with a link that I found on Google I hope there's no issue with me jumping the gun as far as 1st year apps. I signed up for during-show Tollbooth and I think she signed up for during-show Partner Activities. I'm stoked!
The Croo folks have asked that the link to the applications not be shared with new volunteers yet to give returning volunteers priority though. New volunteers should wait until March 7th.
Good luck with everything and I'm sure you'll have a blast! Tollbooth can be pretty fun, seeing all the excited people come in and whatnot.
Oops, I guess we got a bit ahead of ourselves. We were looking into possibly volunteering with some other organizations that attend Bonnaroo, and we stumbled across the app, so we just went ahead and put 'em in. I sure hope they don't throw them out.

whoa where did you happen to stumble across this great app, i would like to check it out my self. not like ill be that ahead of everyone since apps come out on the 7th
I NEED HELP! Ayudeme, rapido, por favor! I need a contact number for the Bonnaroo Volunteer. They've bounced back all of my emails within 10 seconds of sending them. Can anyone help?
Welllll I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, but I definitely plan on volunteering at Bonnaroo this summer. I was thinking between Artist Hospitality or the Post-Fest Clean Vibes. Artist hospitality because I really want to get involved in the music industry in the future and I figure this would be great experience interacting with the bands, seeing the behind the scenes action, but I'm also looking for it to be fun. See I'm just not sure what all is going to happen as a part of this C'roo, and it's also my first year at Bonnaroo. I heard Post-Fest Clean Vibes is a huge after party and I'm looking to have a blast either way, can anybody elaborate on these C'roos and tell me what about happens in either one? I just can't really seem to find a lot of information about it haha
Alright, crisis averted. We submitted our apps 5 days ago and were really starting to panic. Everything is peachy now. We should be getting our acceptance letters and paying the deposits tomorrow. Bonnaroo or Bust!

where did you even find the apps? everytime i check the site it says they will be available in march
Anyone have any insight in the GuRoo spots? That is what I am doing this year and I really have no idea what to expect.
I'm with you.
When I had my interview the girl I talked to did say that they were going to have us being more involved than last year, as it was the first year. Which I'm personally all for.

I had a really awesome experience being a Tollbooth GuRoo last year, you basically act as a supervisor to a group of volunteers. You keep them hydrated, answer questions(LOTS OF QUESTIONS), and keep everybody in a good mood. They have said that this year there will be more authority given to Guroos but Im not entirely sure what all that means yet.
You are also in charge of checking in the volunteers arriving on Tuesday, which is super fun.
I am thinking they will do a different GuRoo specific training session as the fest gets closer so that all the GuRoos will know exactly what will be expected of them.

Sounds pretty similar to what I did at the Gentleman of the Road stopover in Troy. Except I doubt I will be able to have my own dedicated golf cart for the weekend and all access, but I can hope!? Seriously what kind of perks did you get last year? Is the pit thing new this year? Please tell me it is...I passed on GuRoo last year to be able to wait all day for McCartney!

No golf cart. No special access.
The pit thing was a last minute add on for last year and nobody really understood how it worked. When I got home I got all of the text messages with the info I had been missing but I didn't get to take advantage of pit access.
The only new perk is the real $$ donation made in your name.
I really hope I find out if i get this externship thing or not today, because if I don't get it I want to sign up as a regular volunteer and get a good spot... if I do get it then I won't have to worry about it. But why waste $25 on an application fee when I'm so far into this externship process already....
I definitely agree to go in with an open mind, be patient, and enjoy the experience. It's really cool getting a behind-the-scenes view and helping be a part of something so big and awesome. Just remember that and how it can get tricky managing all those people and the volunteers needed, so be aware you sometimes might get shifted to do something else, may not get to your post for a little bit, etc. Have things handy for your shift like sunscreen (apply often!), hat, sunglasses, a jacket if it's going to be overnight and a tad chilly (just in case), a snack or 2 maybe, etc.
As far as GuRoo perks go, I assume they're going to do a better job with that more this year. Last year was their first year taking over volunteers after a few years off, and I'm sure they'll do more to get the whole pit access and stuff communicated to the right people ahead of time. That was one of the reasons I decided not to sign up as a GuRoo. Too new and needed to work out some kinks. Whatever you choose, your help is greatly appreciated and you'll have a blast.
Again, if people know their C'roo assignment and want to be added to the Google Doc, send me a PM on here with your email. (Gmail is ideal since that's what it'll end up asking you to log on with)
