There's a lot of anti-*insertanyband* on inforoo. Don't take it personally. Like I said I grew up listening to bluegrass so I'm naturally inclined to dislike bands that try and popify (I'm just making up words now) that style of music. After this morning I listened to some more at work today on pandora and they aren't bad. I still wasn't able to tell the difference b/t them and avett/luminneers though (besides the banjo). That being said there are plenty (prob more) of people who can't tell the difference between Panic and Phish. So to each their own.
I'm sure this is gonna start an argument but I'm done. I've given my 2 cents. Not like its gonna change anything anyways.
No argument here! Some people get sensative when you discuss music they like in a negative light, but I don't mind at all if it's done with respect. It's nice to hear things from a different point of view.
Thoughts on the acts that are in the smallest font size now being bumped to Cafes? I think it'll happen to a few acts again this year, but right now my bet is just a formatting error for when they added extra lines.
I was wondering that too, guess we may never know till they announce cafe acts.
Slightly disappointed that Bombino is going to be in a cafe situation; but maybe it will be more intimate.

Could be wrong but I think some cafe acts get multiple set times, so while it stinks seeing them in a smaller setting there may be more chances to catch them.

So all of the acts in smaller print are confirmed cafe acts? Will they only play at the cafe? If so, I'm now super pumped for Patrick Watson. Beautiful band with a beautiful voice. Their live set should really shine in a setting like that.

Yes, several of cafe acts played twice last year. Honestly the more intimate setting is great when it's an artist you really enjoy. L.P. and Cherub were two of my favorite sets last year because of how close I was. There's also an added level of audience interaction with these sets I find.

I'm not sure, because they have some comedians down there as well.

It seems like the past couple of years they have switched to adding bands to the cafes that submitted an entry or won a contest. I'm sure we'll see some additions in the coming weeks.
I'm still holding out hopes for a Sarah Jaffe addition.

Yeah. In '10 I caught great, small crowd sets from both Dawes and Orgone at the Sonic Stage and also saw both of them play to a super packed Troo Music Lounge. That was a great year for cafes. I also caught Everest, The Devil Makes Three, Moondoggies, Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights at Troo among others. Had to skip Warpaint there for a good late night spot for The Black Keys though.
Earlier this morning Foxygen posted on their facebook that they were canceling all their European shows & festivals in May & June for "creative health". In my mind I had already ruled them out as an addition since they were going to be in Europe. BUT now it seems their gonna be state side with not many scheduled shows. So here to hoping we get Foxygen!!
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

There's no real indication as to whether it's visa related, health related, or anything else. Either way, I wouldn't count on them adding dates, as much as I'd like to see them added.

They're still playing Mexico in late May, so that has got to count for something.

you are right. i still think that Mumford's 2010 show may be one of my favorite Roo moments. Just think there's a lot already dedicated to that similar genre (mumford, lumineers, OMOM, Edward Sharp..) Any jam add would just make those who Can tell Phish and Panic apart very happy.

Another wishlist add. Chris Carrabba (dashboard confessional) started a new folk rock group called Twin Forks. Im really digging the two songs they posted, they could be a great thursday addition.

Matthew E White took a large group onstage at hopscotch last year. Not sure they would fit in a cafe.

I am pretty sure that was a special occasion type back band and not his usual backing band. A$AP Rosko may know for sure.
When I type lineup.bonnaroo.com/band/atlas-genius it gives me a a redirect loop. I subbed in Frank Ocean, Soundgarden, Beck, Eric Church, and a few more and got "no page exist."
Also something interesting, when you sub in daft-punk it says "no page exist" but it automatically changes the url from daft-punk to yeah-yeah-yeahs. When I search that url though "no page exist."

Yes, that was a special one-time-only occasion. His regular touring band is just five people.
Also, every time you tag me in this thread, Dave, I get real excited thinking it's Cut Copy
So no chance he brings the big band? Bonnaroo is a lot bigger than hopscotch right? I am really looking forward to this show but am not sure the songs will translate to a five piece. I guess I won't know till I arrive and see the stage setup. Unless I email him or his peeps to get the downlow! Thanks for the info tho

Bonnaroo is bigger than Hopscotch but the people that run Hopscotch have been friends with Matthew for a long time. The big 40-piece band performance of it at Hopscotch took a whole lot of planning and he said that'd be the only time they'd play the album live in that fashion since it was such an ordeal.
I've seen him with the 5-piece band, too, and it does sounds pretty different from the album, but it's still good.
