I cant believe no She & Him, Cold War Kids, or Black Angels, all with new albums out, and roo vets, with smaller price tags. No Les Claypool, even though he's in the area and whoring himself out everywhere. I even thought wsp would get added, even though i dont care about them. Seems like a lot of possibilities out there that they didnt take.

kind of surprised empire of the sun is billed higher than tame impala. they have only released one album (2008) and both of tame impala's albums charted higher.
maybe they have a crazy live show that they are better known for.
sidenote: tame impala live is amazing, i have seen them 3 times and am incredible biased in this sense.
In all honesty, out of that list there are MAYBE three acts that can play outside of the cafe (Capital Cities, Kacey Musgrave, Maps and Atlases). Look for more ads.
Side note: Who wants to go see Peanut Butter Lovesicle with me?
My sincerest apologies. Sorry I got you all butt-hurt about this.
However, still no announcement about the "re-purposed" tent so I'll keep expecting ads.
Ah yes, the old "you've pointed out errors in my flawed reasoning, so rather than consider what you've said I'll call you a funny internet insult and ignore it."
Might want to read this:
BLANK: Have you thought of having an all electronic music stage?
AC: This year, we’ve converted one of our tent stages into, essentially, an electronic stage all weekend long. We’re shifting around some of the designations, so I can’t tell you if it’s This Tent, That Tent or The Other Tent, but it will be one of those three.
So the dude in charge of the festival says that they're going to take one of the three existing tents and turn it into an "electronic" stage, yet you think that somehow there's a brand new EDM oontz oontz fistpump dubstep stage just hiding in the shadows. Got it.
I wasn't insulting you, just thought you might be a little butt-hurt
Sorry, I'm just having a rainy/sh*tty day and the additions were underwhelming to me. Although being a little spun and seeing EOTS sounds like an adventure.
A lot of people use the terms "EDM" and "electronic" interchangeably because essentially it's an arbitrary designation. Most people/listeners/festival-goers hear "electronic" and think of dance music when it comes to EDM/electronic. Judging by other festivals (Lolla, Coachella, etc etc), if you were to have an "electronic stage" you wouldn't include bands like Death Grips, Wild Nothing, Passion Pit, XX, Ariel Pink, Charlie XCX. If you were to slap Death Grips in between Wolfgang Gartner and Boys Noize it would be an incredibly awkward transition.
Electronic Stage. All weekend long. 17 acts? I doubt that will fill the time and that's all I'm saying.
I don't think there's a new stage with your pre-conceived notions of EDM blasting from it, obviously AC didn't say that. I'm simply saying that it's a big deal to turn a tent into an all electronic tent for the weekend and it probably warrants a full announcement. When that happens I expect to see a few EDM additions.

Fender Jazz Bass Larry Graham, Jr. (born August 14, 1946) is an American bass guitar player, both with the popular and influential psychedelic soul/funk band Sly and the Family Stone, and as the founder and frontman of Graham Central Station. He is credited with the invention of the slapping technique, which radically expanded the tonal palette of the bass, although he himself refers to the technique as "Thumpin' and Pluckin'."[1]
Well if these are all the additions I'm bummed! No jam bands??? No classic Rock adds?? What the quack have I been waiting for??
ALO is a jam band. And a good one at that.
Personally ALO is the biggest add for me and has made their way into my top 10. Not too familiar with some of the other stuff but I know EOTS is a huge add for a lot of people. I'll have to spend some more time researching them. Maybe Jack Johnson as an ALO special guest? They are on Brushfire Records so who knows...

The "Club Stage" this year is a lot more interesting to me than the "Cafe Acts" were last year.
A little surprised to see Capital Cites as a Club Stage act. I see why, not having a full album at all...but they would have filled up a tent. Safe and Sound was number 1 on the Alt 18 for a few works and I know Kangaroo Court is a popular.

Go about your business.
For what it's worth, not counting Thursday, That Tent had 20 acts on it last year. Total. So 17 acts wouldn't be that far off, though I would expect to see a couple more adds in this vein. Just not a huge mass of EDM.
And why would you go by other festivals such as Lolla and Coachella for what to expect from an "electronic" tent at Bonnaroo when the people who put Bonnaroo on have an "electronic" festival of their own? I wouldn't expect stuff like Wild Nothing, Passion Pit, the XX or whatever to play on the Saharah, but I would absolutely expect to see them at Moogfest/Mountain Oasis. And you're right, you wouldn't put Wolfgang Gartner into Death Grips into Boys Noize. But why wouldn't you be able to have Death Grips playing at 6:00 p.m. with Boys Noize late night? With the "electronic" acts they've booked this year, there is enough variety where they could have the mellower, less EDM-ish stuff during the day and early evening, with the more traditionally dancey noise happening later on/late night. Why is that so hard to comprehend?
I'm not expecting a mass of EDM. I was simply expecting at least one or two additions with this round. That's all I'm saying.
Most festivals tend to be fairly similar, especially once they get above a certain size. I understand that Bonnaroo is not in the same vein as Coachella and Lollapalooza but an electronic stage tends to lean more towards EDM in the minds of the fans. I don't think Mountain Oasis has anything to do with Bonnaroo at all, I think the only thing that they care about is ticket sales (as they should, it's a business) and they'll do what they have to in order to sell the most tickets. I think that's all the two festivals have in common.
I understand what you're saying completely. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you and we won't know for sure until the announcement/schedule release. It's simply my opinion that you'll see bands like Passion Pit, XX, and the more indie-leaning electronic acts end in other tents and stages. Just my two cents.
I can see them adding 4-5 more bands people know. I mean it still says more artists to be announced.... Give us like at least one good metal band, Dillinger has a gap pretty sure zombie does too.

I saw Empire Of The Sun at Ultra in 2011, and it was hands down the best show I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot). The stuff that goes on is ridiculous along with their costumes and all kinds of trippy effects. They had such great energy and sounded perfect. CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN! Huge add for me.

Sooooo no Slightly Stoopid. Thats a bummer I know their Love or Hate but the Ska/Reggae scenes been slacking at Roo as of lately I woulda took anything in the genre. Seems like its only one act a year that fits this slot had SOJA and then Marley & Nas...now nothing...unless I missed one as an addition not to familiar with the new adds yet.

no sir... true fans know- Primus SUCKS! (and yes, by that I do mean I will go to any show they have in my area, and they are insanely awesome)
