I've been wondering something for the better part of a year now. As far as additions go are they already booked and Roo just chooses not to release the info (possibly to drive ticket sales)? Or are they actually still booking bands and confirming dates?

This is just a guess, but I think it's a combination of both. Last year, before the lineup came out, Maynard James Keenan was quoted in an interview saying that Pucifer had been offered a spot at Bonnaroo, playing in the same tent as Alice Cooper and Danzig. When the lineup dropped, of the three, only Alice Cooper was booked. However, both Pucifer and Danzig were later announced as additions. It's possible they were negotiating w/Danzig and Pucifer the entire time, but my feeling is they had already been booked.
I'm guessing that is going to be the case with Atlas Genius this year as well (I think they are already booked, per info from the Artist Direct Confirmation thread).
Looks like Foxygen is rumored to be at Forecastle this year, so no bonnaroo. I'm guessing these two festivals wouldn't share any acts.
They will share acts, but not much just because AC has their hands in the Forecastle cookie jar. With that neing said the rumors are looking pretty good this year.
Has there been any discussion about METZ being an add? They are small enough, and I just noticed that they are in Europe at the end of May and then nothing until the end of June when they are back in Europe.
I was really surprised Grimes wasn't on the lineup. She would be a great addition.
This. Was really hoping Grimes would be there. Here's to hoping she's an addition.
I'm almost positive her booking manager told someone in the Artist Direct Confirm thread that Grimes is not going to be at Roo. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I would've liked her a lot as well.
Is there a specific reason they haven't opened up What/Which in the past? Is it just that Thursday is kind of a warm up or is there something more?
The Cliff's Notes version: Capps said that they never meant for Thursday to really be a thing. They just put a couple of unannounced cover bands on one year and it's snowballed over the years. They don't want to make Thursday a full-blown thing because then it will lead to bands on Wednesday and eventually they are a week-long festival.
Don't think they'd give Bassnectar a LN Which. I'd expect Bassnectar LN Tent friday, Pretty Lights LN Which Saturday.
He should be on a stage, Bassnectar's LN set in 2011 was the biggest crowd I've ever seen in a tent. The crowd was all the way back to the fountain from This.
To be honest, it was a safety concern. I was volunteering on the handicap access/VIP deck and we had to pull a kid that was seizing out of the crowd. It took the medics 30 minutes to fight through the crowd because it was so densely packed.
I found a pic I took, from just before the show, where you can see just how big it was. I was standing on the deck at the very back of things. i.imgur.com/qIJODvv.jpg
I mean, I'd totally be in favor of Bassnectar being on LN Which. Always been a bigger fan of him than Pretty Lights anyway. I was under the impression that PL was more popular, but I'm glad to hear otherwise!
Akron Family, Dr.Dog, solo Panda Bear set, and Pigs on the Wing ft. Murphy, more jam would make me happy as well. I may be wrong but i counted the names on the back of my shirt and was at around 163 or is this close? If thats accurate is that about normal per year.

That is about the right number when they add all the comedians and cafe acts. Probably only get 5 or 6 more stage and tent acts.
Freddy Gibbs would be a perfect Thursday rap add that they can throw into a tent with Action Bronson/BIG Krit/Killer Mike/Earl. We already have one of the deepest hip hop lineups I've seen Bonnaroo get so maybe it's a little over the top but I love me some Freddie Gibbs.
You can also put Fucked Up in between Gaslight Anthem and Swans to bridge the gap in music styles in a harder rock tent. Gaslight->Fucked Up->Swans->Baroness makes sense to me, at least.
