We should push ourselves, do things we don't even remember.
This sounds amazing. It's refreshing to hear a legend not wanting to rest on his laurels, and all the better that we'll get to witness the fruits in June.
Wet blanket alert!
I will start by saying that I am a HUGE Petty fan-they have been my favorite band since I was in high school. That said, my one musical wish if I were granted one (and I couldn't bring people back from the dead) would be that the band changes the setlist every night. This quote from Petty, while it sounds fantastic, is eerily similar to quotes he has put out before previous tours. He then goes out on these tours and plays the same songs in the same order nearly every night (normally after three or four shows he will change up a song or two). I will say last year, looking at his setlists, was the most varied in years with a few songs changed up. For most of you, if you're casual Petty fans, you will have an OUTSTANDING time at the Sunday closer performance. I just want to warn people that get excited at the "changing it up, don't want to be a jukebox, don't want to play just the greatest hits.." quotes- it has yet to equate to truly unique setlists, that's all. Below are two random back-to-back shows from last year just as an example.

This'll be my second time catchin' Petty and I'm pretty stoked! Last time he played a great set and even threw in "Handle With Care" from the Traveling Wilburys! It was back in 2005 with The Black Crowes openin'.

Realistic choice, I'd really like to hear "Southern Accents" live.
Less realistically, I'm hoping for this one. It's an unreleased track, was supposed to be the B-side to "Wildflowers" until the label balked. He played it live the one time I saw him in the mid-90s and it seems pretty appropriate for Bonnaroo.

Pretty hard to believe he won't play "You Don't Know How It Feels". I'd like to hear "Rebels" or "The Last DJ" too but fat chance on those being played.
I am not really familiar w Petty's newer stuff. I do love the older stuff I sure hope his bonnaroo setlist is heavy with the classics and not like the ones listed earlier in this thread with only like nine songs i know.

I can say, for a fact, he only has played, "you don't know how it feels" but one out if the three times I've seen him. The last dj, never, and never rebel.
Most of his sets mirror the others pretty well. He will throw in some stuff for the encore, or encores that you don't normally see. I'm hoping since he is closing out roo, it'll be a long set.

I super stoked for this set! Sunday is going to be a full blast party now. Since its Roo, I bet theres 3 or 4 twists and turns in his set that his other shows wont get all in one night. Never seen him, perfect closer!
Oh baby! Killer setlist last night to kick off the tour! Great mix of hits, covers and deep cuts. Give me "Here Comes My Girl" on the farm and I will leave Manchester a very, very happy man.

You don't know how it feels for sure.. I'd love love love to hear this on the farm. Just saw Zac Brown Band do a cover of it last week and gave me chills thinking about Petty on the farm.

Tweeter and the Monkey Man is a great Traveling Wilbury's Song with the lead vocals by Bob Dylan. Yes I know it's a long shot but just Maybe Bob will make a surprise appearance on the Farm. We all know that Stevie Nicks joined Tom Petty the last time he played Bonnaroo so I wouldnt be surprised if he has a special guest this time as well.
