I'm not sure if they're moving towards a headliner or not but Thursday isn't just stacked, it's running later. All they really need is one more act that kills it from 2-4 and it's a full 4 days of chaos.
ALO is going to run really late more than likely, I am thinking Brock Butler will be with them.
Coachella sold out in 2 hrs Lolla sold out in 5 min
Why is roo taking so long to sell out???????
Has roo become irrelevant ?????
i don't equate popularity with relevence. maybe the cost is high. i'm paying for airfare, shuttle, tickets, spending money, plus the stuff i have to buy to try to keep dry and comfy. it's not like you can hit the hotel, get a private nap, shower and show up for the show, but it costs about the same (at least for me, so far.) it takes certain types of people who can afford it yet will sacrifice comfort and amenities that you usually associate with cost in order to have a really neat experience.
maybe it's because paul mccartney sucks? lol. sorry all you fans. just hatin a little.

I think I am just cheap I hate the whole concept of VIP. Select a Seat, pit passes, golden circle seats, vip, then stubhub where you can usually buy any ticket at a price. Wanna suck up any ticket for any price just because you have a fat bank account. Grrrrrrr .... I hated it when the Eagles charged $66 for their comeback (?) tour. If I only went to a few shows a year, it would be different. I just figure it is never going to be less than 1k for any fest I go to unless it is in Denver ... So I disagree: NO to SUPER VIP, where you get to give the lead singer a back massage, or whatever. I do have to admit we payed a little bucks to have dinner with STS9 but it was for conscience alliance ... Rant. I bought my Roo tics the day they went on sale. I don't care who is going to enjoy the days on the Farm. Those that go, packed or not, ...cr****
It sells out when they have decided it's sold out. Which is always at the end of May. I wonder how many people will actually be there this year. 2011 was crowded as fuck, last year was decent.
Perhaps I'm a total idiot....but what's the big deal about there being poor ticket sales if there is? I think they make their $$ a gazillion times over...I wouldn't mind a few less people.
Because it's a business. And when you don't make money you cut things out or charge more.
In my opinion they should (and they're making steps in this direction) add a headliner on Thursdays.
Why isn't there a headliner on Thursday? I've never understood the reasoning behind a four day festival with three headliners.

I do think that there is a number that once they pass , lets for argument sake say 75,000 GA, they announce a sell out at the end of May. There have been years though where they have not hit that magic number and tickets were on sale in Manchester Thursday morning.

Because it wasn't always a four day festival, and because there are still tons of people arriving on Thursday. It's less than it used to be, but the Thursday evening acts were always just kind of an "extra." If you open up the entire grounds for that fourth day, that's more expense to run the stages, etc., and you still run the risk of having a lot of people not able to get there in time.
I have always felt that the "bonus" of Thursday music, especially when it was not a listed festival day, was that it gives first timers a chance to learn the layout while checking out some new music. It is a chance to get antiquated with the experience you are about to jump into. I personally like the more laid back take on Thursday and not having a headliner.

I can see that. Thursday was definitely my favorite day last year. No fighting for shade, just chilling in the grass.
I dunno. My first Roo but my Thursday is PACKED full of must see shows. Literally as pumped for Thursday as every other day!
This year really is stacked. Alot of up & coming acts have been playing on Thursday, kind of making it a neat experience for those who aren't quite as familiar with the lineup.

Thursday always has been one of my favorite days, music wise. It also seems like Centeroo has gotten more and more crowded each year on Thursday. As far as ticket sales go, I've given up trying to determine what will drive sales. I thought last year would be through the roof with Phish and Radiohead, and it wasn't. Even Paul didn't lead to an early sell out. What others on here have said about the location, as compared to Coachella and other urban festivals, likely plays a big role.
Has it ever gotten this late without them "selling out" on tickets? Will it be less crowded this year?
They don't usually "sell out". Most years people can still get a ticket on the day of the fest. I believe it will be just as crowded as it has been the past few years. I'd love less of a crowd though.
