Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Look at it this way: I have 90 Katy Perry t-shirts (ie Coachella tickets). I have 115 WSP t-shirts (ie Bonnaroo tickets). If I sell all 90 of my Katy Perry t-shirts, but I only sell 105 of my WSP t-shirts it doesn't mean that the Katy Perry shirts are more popular (as people are using Coachella and other venues selling out to suggest Bonnaroo is less popular or suffering in ticket sales this year). It means I have a larger supply of WSP t-shirts (ie Bonnaroo has thousands more tickets available than other festivals).
Oh man screw bonnaroo, next year I'm going to coachella. I want my katy perry shirt. Mmmmmm katy perry...
They are only doing the day passes in conjunction with their shuttle service from Nashville, right? That can't have enough of an impact to really do more than nudge their total sales. Their shuttles probably carry fifty or so, right? It's not like they are going to be running hundreds of them...

People are making way too big of a deal out of the shuttle/single day pass combo.

A lot of people who live in Nashville are pretty excited about it.
I would enjoy a less crowded Bonnaroo. I don't think it will happen though.
If I was a business man I would look to expand the VIP area and perks. Go with what makes the most money. It also stands to reason those in VIP would spend more.
In the months leading up to the festival in 2010, everyone claimed that ticket sales had to be slow, but Bonnaroo was super crowded that year. I think it is clear that we know nothing.

2010 also is the only time they had a trailer selling tickets on the way in as well.
Couldn't they just have them at will call? I dunno. Just a theory.
Since when do they have a will call that is not at the radio station?
I don't know. Was just a theory. Like I said in another post they should expand VIP because apparently those sell out and those people MAY just bring more money to spend.

I don't get why them offering fancorps tickets indicates poor ticket sales. Haven't they done that every year for quite a few years? I know several people who have been working since last year on street team stuff in anticipation of them being released.

The only issue with expanding VIP is that so many of the perks in VIP are based off a smaller number of patrons. It's harder to guarantee close parking the more people you let in VIP. Also, perks like the bathrooms and the viewing areas would seem much less attractive if they involve a wait or are crowded. I know from reading about it last year that one of the current knocks on VIP is the Hill at What is already pretty crowded during headliners.

Perhaps I'm a total idiot....but what's the big deal about there being poor ticket sales if there is? I think they make their $$ a gazillion times over...I wouldn't mind a few less people.

Because it's a business. And when you don't make money you cut things out or charge more.
In my opinion they should (and they're making steps in this direction) add a headliner on Thursdays.
maybe it's not poor ticket sales. pretty sure bonnaroo had over 100,000 one year. they have a huuge if capacity and can choose if they want to sell out or not. in the past caps was saying "we're gonna sell it out this year" from the beginning (2011) when the lineup wasn't THAT spectacular for the time so they could've done it for a publicity-type reason. this year he hasn't said anything like that. perhaps they want as many people there as possible this year so they can make more mulah and pay for the secret rolling stones set in that tent on friday

Yeah, 2011 was super packed. That was a really mainstream card of currently popular acts with several Grammy winners from that year. I'm sure they went over their listed capacity. I think I've seen a listed capacity before. I know fire Marshall's were all over the cinema tent, but that could be a regular thing. That was my first time in it. I had to see the Mavs win it all during the first part of WSP.

I'm not sure if they're moving towards a headliner or not but Thursday isn't just stacked, it's running later. All they really need is one more act that kills it from 2-4 and it's a full 4 days of chaos.
How many times have you not heard or read this year is THE MOST stacked Thursday?
I've heard it here and there, and as awesome as Thursday is going to be this year, that doesn't mean we are eventually going to get a Thursday headliner. I also don't take some people's personal tastes who have nothing to do with the planning of Bonnaroo as steps in the direction of a Thursday headliner.

Which is why I led with "in my opinion". Listen, as a "fest" they compete with all others but Coachella and Bonnaroo are two serious contenders. I don't think Bonnaroo is made or built for two weekends like the other. It's already different in the fact there IS a Thursday so how much of a stretch would it be to get another headliner there.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from, I just like to manage my expectations. There are a lot of things I've assumed Bonnaroo would do and they haven't.
