Muse will rock the f*cking house, Tom. When my dad and I were walking back to the tent that night he said they were a top 10 show for him and I know he's seen some bucket list bands.
But that does suck for those that go a lot because they were just there. Really quick turnaround for Coach.
It also sucks for those that have never been and were really excited about going this year and think that Muse might be the most overrated "rock" band around. Not saying that's me, my friend, speaking purely hypothetically here.

Good thing there will be four other stages of awesome music during the headliners.
As the only Muse fan on this board I'm pretty happy about this.
You're not alone, I assure you. Origin of Symmetry and Black Holes and Revelations are still two of my favorite albums. But as Zapp said, it is a very quick turnaround for Coachella. Even as an exclusive North American festival gig - which it seems like it might be - four years removed from a headlining performance seems rushed. They'll undoubtedly slay the main stage, but I am glad to have seen them before. Give me Underworld in the Mojave Paul, please.
As someone from LA: I can confirm there is no way they were alluding to LA Rising with that reference. Nobody here has even heard of LA Rising.
Also, what the hell is with the bands leaking all this info? Not complaining, but it's taking the mystery out of the lineup drop. Don't they have like contracts and stuff that prevent this sort of thing? Non disclosure agreements or something?

There was always going to be one "KROQ" headliner. Muse is among the least objectionable, I suppose.
And last year, instead of watching Phoenix, I was getting melted by Sigur Ros. Instead of wasting time with RHCP, I was watching the best Wu-Tang show of possibly their career. So you can easily avoid Muse by going wild with the Knife or something.
Ok that would work. Mrs Lucien likes Muse though so we'd definitely have to split up for that one.
Monklish is back. A few changes from last time but I like this list more. The inclusion of Sleater Kinney would be awesome.

As someone still on the fence, this list puts me a little closer.
So how much would it cost in total for someone from, say, Tennessee to make this trip? Is it way better to camp that get a hotel? It seems like it will cost a small fortune.

I did it last year and it was more affordable to camp. Camping is $85.

For a group of four, an official Coachella travel pack gets you 3 nights hotel, ticket, and shuttle passes for around $700 per person.
I would expect to spend around $1000 (admission, traveling, personal expenses).
Oh OK, well Daft Punk, David Bowie, Prince, The Roger Gilmour Band then. But with a crappy undercard cause those headliners will be sooo expensive. I'm in!
Even though it was pretty widley known that Chvrches was playing, the tour dates kinda cement it:
04/21 – Tempe, AZ @ Marquee Theater 04/22 – Salt Lake City, UT @ The Depot 04/24 – Denver, CO @ Ogden Theatre 04/28 – Carrboro, NC @ Cat’s Cradle 04/29 – Washington, DC @ 9:30 Club 05/02 – New York, NY @ Terminal 5

I did it cheaply from Knoxville in 2012. It was $300 round trip TYS - LAX on Frontier plus like $300 for the festival ticket. My friend from SF picked me up on his way, and I rode/camped with him. Throw in a little food/booze/etc. money, and it's really not bad at all. That requires you having a ride from LAX, though. My plan this year is to do the same thing again.

A lot of it comes from the perfectly valid speculation on the Coachella board, and then she lumps in some bullsh*t she made up on top. Just read the message board.

Got it. Thanks. I should head back over there. I haven't been on there since I actually made the trek in 2012.

This. She/he has never been 100%. It's just fun to look at the list and provide conversation. While I'm sure a lot of those names will end up on the lineup, a lot won't.
