nmd. While I think that would be hysterical, other people in the GL household decided it would not. Remember guys, after you are married, decision making becomes muuuuch easier.
Alright, thanks to a awesome inforoorer we just secured lodging at DTI. We are about to buy tickets for this and it will be the 1st time to this area as we never did Moog in the past even though we wanted to. Anything we should know as a 1st timer to this one? Is the VIP for this worth the extra money?
1. Gaebryl and Squirrel 2. We are going
If you answered going to #2, continue on: 3. Are you staying at the Downtown Inn (DTI) or somewhere else? Staying at DTI 4. Do you have a room booked at the DTI, or are you rooming with someone that has a room booked? Have a room booked and have 2 more non-inforoorer's staying with us.
Yay!!! MOAAARRRRR Inforooers/moogers/moemers! There are a small handful of people going VIP- Mayo, CKS and Phi. Perhaps Druid and her hubs? It's all in the thread somewhere... It doesn't seem worth it to me. Let me see if I can copy some posts from earlier on about it...
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Are there some shows that you can't see because of capacity? Like where you got there late and couldn't get in?
Absolutely.
Missed Fout Tet because the venue was already full and there was a line around the block.
This is why I'm strongly considering VIP, just to avoid the capacity/line hassles. It does kind of suck when you're the only one in your group, though. Feels a bit weenieish to be like "Peace out guys, I'm goin in!" But I think I just may do it anyway... The payment plan makes it very tempting.
Im actually debating the VIP payment plan..it doesnt say anything about free drinks though (not that its a dealbreaker for me) - Exclusive entrance to U.S. Cellular Center
- Exclusive viewing areas in ExploreAsheville.com Arena and Thomas Wolfe Auditorium
crazykittensmile so was there free booze last year in the VIP lounge? Do you know, or does anybody know? Only reason the booze might be a make or break for me is because beers get expensive at the main venue as they pile up, so if I could grab a free beer between switching venues, then it makes more sense for me to get VIP anyway.
Yes. Phi covered my VIP ticket, so I was in the lounge and saw free drinks happenin (people still tip, obviously). They had all the beers that were for sale outside, and also those delicious mixed moonshine drinks (Dolly Partonnnnns, wut wutttttt @ mayonaise).
The only catch to this is, you can't take the drinks outside of the lounge (for obvious reasons). The lounge was to the left of the regular bar/snacks area downstairs, so you have no view/sound of what's going on. But if you head in before/after a show, you're all set to throw back a few for free.
You may want to call MOEMS folks just to be SURE they are offering this again if it's a big selling point for you.
Also, I hate that the VIP party is Saturday night. Ain't nobody got time fo that!
Based solely on the fact that there is a sweet payment plan deal, I'm thinking of going VIP. I can take down some free alcohols, and a poster/tshirt saves me 70 like cks said. That right there makes it worth it to me.

Based on the above info and the super handy payment plan we decided to go with the VIP. Thanks for the help!

I'm in, GA, but will likely not stay at the DTI. I really liked the cabin we rented in 11, and it was way cheaper- provided we can get the same amount of people to go in on the weekend rental.
I'm not going to make it to Moems this year after all. LD, you can take me off the list. I'm really bummed about it and I had made up my mind that I just wasn't going to think about it until after Roo, but then I read in here that some nice inforoosters needed a room at the DTI and it was totally booked. So I went ahead and gave up my reservation.
I hate to miss this wonderful time with you guys, but the fest falls on my busiest week of the year at work, and they won't let me take the time off.
I'll be alright. First world problems, right? I still plan to make it to bear creek!

Sad days. Your presence will be missed.
That's an awesome awesome awesome thing you did though, linana. Kudos for that.

Boooooo to you not being able to go. Like GL said, it's awesome that you were able to help someone else out with the reservation transfer.

There are a few people out there interested, right now I just can't remember who.

Bummer you won't be able to make it. There's always next year though.
For those of you who are flying in from kinda far away, Charlotte is two hours from Asheville and has a big US Airways hub there. I just got plane tickets for 235 or so round trip non-stop from Providence - so apparently it's really cheap right now. Southwest also has operations there now, but you may need to switch at Baltimore or Chicago first.
Um, let's just say, hypothetically, if for some wacky reason I was able to come to this solo, would I have to stay in BFE since I haven't bought any tickets or hotel room yet?

Please! You'd be able to find space. You can sleep on my floor if need be!
But I am sure out of all those reserved rooms someone has a bed with your name on it.

Not at all, you'd have no problem at all finding space even without a DTI reservation. Air mattresses are great, and everyone going is a GREAT bunch. Seriously, at the DTI it's just one happy Inforoo party! All are welcome.
EDIT: Except Bobble-head Richard, he's not invited.

southwest was having a sale and i found a flight OUT of greenville on monday for 103$ but flying IN to greenville on thursday is like 250$. i found cheaper flights on thursday into charlotte and raleigh. what is everyone thinking on thursday? will they have someone like justice since the fest is three days? for now i just bought my return flight but am waiting on everyone to get back to buy my flight there.
Ah just found this thread... This will be my guy and my first MOEMS. Due to life responsibilities (BOO), we only got a Saturday pass (which I expect we'll be very sad about when we have to leave). I know nothing about the area and have nowhere to sleep as of right now. We'd be happy to room with people if that's an option. Even floor space somewhere is good with us.
Any other lodging option ideas would be appreciated
Soooo there's no way I'm missing this. I had a plan to go in with a few people on a cabin, but the availability for 4 bedroom cabins is dwindling.
Do y'all think pods will be available at Sweet Pea's Hostel in the first week of july?
I'd give them a call, pronto. If the Downtown Inn is full, I'd expect Sweet Pea's to be booked up or right at it.
I gave them a call a second ago and awesomely enough they're not even allowing reservations for late October until July. So if I can't find the right cabin in the next two weeks it works out perfectly.
