are we gonna panda one night? Do I need to put panda hoods on my list of things to prep for the newbs? or are we going completely different? Do I need to come up with another Prototype?
Random, I was TOTALLY thinking about this over the weekend- whether we want to panda or switch it up. It would be fun to find something new, BUT there is something to be said about tradition. And we were so well known last year, I bet people will recognize our panda gear. Aaaaaand we did some panda-ing at Roo...
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
My boyfriend and I are looking for a room too. Happy to be roomies with whoever. Don't have a room reserved, so if anyone has one that could possibly be transferred, that'd be awesome. itrainmonkeys - If we find a room, you are more than welcome with us.
I know this won't help you much, but maybe? If I can't get anyone for the weekend, then you can stay for the Saturday. If I do get someone for the weekend, would you have an air mattress and don't mind floor space?
ITM - I might be a little late on the game - but I got a double. No air mattress required.
That would be awesome. We have camp mats and are just fine with floor space. Let me know if anything changes, but thank you very much!
Sorry if this has been covered ad nauseum, but I never really paid attention in the past - does everyone discuss DTI as the place to stay because it's the cheapest, has the most available rooms, or is closest to all the venues, or some combination of these?
In other words, are there other hotels just as close and good but maybe not as inexpensive as DTI or other hotels that are further away but less expensive?

It's a combo of all of both. It's a downtown hotel, so it's close, and it is the cheapest hotel downtown. There are several other hotels downtown, but you will pay a significant more for these (~$50/night at least). On the other hand, these hotels are probably nicer. You can get some cheaper rooms off Tunnel Rd as krstphr and tronik have done in the past. I know tronik's offered a shuttle that he used to get downtown at the start of the day. In addition to that, there are several cabins that are around Asheville. LoveLuckLaughter got one in 2011 that we stayed at that worked out decently cheap split 6 or 7 ways. You have to drive yourself to and from downtown every day.

Gotcha - thanks. So looking at a map, if I had points for a good deal at say, the Renaissance (plus the 15% off from MOEMS) in downtown Asheville, there's no downside to staying there (other than a lot of you will be at the sold out DTI), it seems.

If the reviews are good for it, there is no downside. Is it just you coming because there are probably people who would let you have some floor space? I understand if you want some private time though.
I am going! I only just now registered on here, but I have been lurking for some time. I will be working full time and will also be in engineering graduate school either full-time or nearly full-time in the fall, so I have no idea how it's going to work out at this point. I may only be able to catch the shows I *really* want to see and spend most of the day doing school work.
It would be super awesome to split a room with someone and get to meet some of you guys!

Yeah, I stayed on Tunnel Rd. last year. It wasn't terrible, but I'm glad to not have to do it again. It was a 2 mile walk or you could use the hotel shuttle up until a certain time (don't remember what it was). We would have to cab it back in the evenings. Only did the walk once.
I woke up this morning to a text from my bff. He's making the drive in with his girlfriend for the fest. This really has no bearing on the logistics but I'm just so happy.
I haven't had a chance to read the entire thread yet but does anyone still need a roommate? I fit well into small corners and when it's dark you won't even know I'm there.
They are holding off on reservations for october until July 1st. The only thing is that there are only 42 beds available of different quality, and the person that I spoke with earlier said that for the weekend of Moog all of the beds will be sold out by the time the day is over.
So once 9 AM July 1st rolls around I'm going to call and reserve 4 pods. They're only $35 a night. And you don't have to pay anything up front to reserve them, just give a credit card number.
The only thing though is that it is located directly above a bar with live music so unless you plan on going to bed after 2AM you might have trouble with the noise.
This actually doesn't seem like a bad choice! It'll be different and cheap, which is a good thing, and if fellow Inforoosters are there then it can't be a bad thing! I'll be at work at 9 on Monday though. I'm sure my boss will let me step out and make a reservation though. I'll reserve 2 pods if I can. One for me and one for Tejas if he's interested.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

I cannot freaking wait til MOEMS. I'm pretty sure I'm head over heals in love with every one of you. Except @ntellier85. Because of the whole unfriending thing. You know how it is
