That's actually very tempting! If I can find a break in my extensive drinking and eating schedule, then I might try for that! I love that sort of thing. I recently did the Mark Twain House again (it's only 5 minutes away from me).
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Hey LD, just letting ya know that my possble +1-3 is now a definite +3. I'm looking forward to finally meeting all you people this year. It seems like Inforoo basically rented out the entire DTI.

If this runs afoul of some board policy, sorry.
I live in Asheville but will be staying at Aloft this year like I did last year. I do this because I enjoy the staycation and I'm sort of a drinker. My house will be empty and I'm considering renting it out for the festival. It's not within walking distance of downtown but is only about a 12 minute drive in good traffic. Before you dismiss this entirely, read some bullets.
-approx. 2000 square feet - 2 queen beds and 2 cots with couch and floor space for many more -1.1 acres of wooded, hilly land. The neighbors all have this much land too so you really feel 'out there'. - Hot tub. - Fire pit. - Several working pinball machines set to free play. -Cat. -Stereo. You can get as loud as you want and no one will care. -Wifi -5.5 miles from downtown Asheville -2.5 bathrooms -Decks and porches -Propane grill -Kitchen and laundry. -6 or 7 car parking limit or you will find yourself stuck on the hill.
I've never rented this place out before. I've considered it but feel as I'm sacrificing some of my privacy in doing so. At this point it is just a thought and am gauging interest. Any interest?

We rented a cabin about 15 minutes away our first year at Moog. I loved it. What is your rate for this? We're thinking of going to MOEMS.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Looks like DTI is out of rooms for the weekend? Just attempted to make reservations and there was no availability for the 25-28th
Ouch. If it sells out and you want cheap, I'd say try Tunnel Rd hotels. I know another board member found one with a shuttle to and from the festival. I honestly don't remember which, but I wanna say The Candlewood Suites. The other option is to pony up and pay the cash for a downtown. I'm never in the room enough to enjoy them. I just need a roof for me at night (and my old man naps) and coffee. Everything else is a luxury.
Two years ago I stayed at the Days Inn, exit 55 off I-40. It's around 100 a night and is pretty decent, but you're on your own for parking downtown - about 10 minutes to the west.

I know tronik had one with a shuttle in '11, but I cannot remember the name of it.
The hostel RDK is talking about it probably the Sweet Peas Hostel. If I remember right, it filled up pretty early last year as well.
As far as other downtown hotels, you are not kidding about ponying up. I looked last week at the official ones listed on the Mtn Oasis website. They are at least $80-$100 more per night.
Thanks guys, looks like I'm a little late to the party!
Just seriously began to consider going yesterday and currently in the process of checking what's around for lodging and seeing what the trip will cost us. My hubs and I have never been to Moog, or Asheville for that matter, so there a lot for us to figure out, (any tips/pointers welcome)! We thought it would be fun to join the inforoo crew, but we are really looking to get a room for ourselves. Not super restricted on budget, we'd rather spend a little more if required so we can walk to the venues, but also don't want to pay something ridiculous. The shuttle option is definitely something worth investigating - thanks for the idea .
Getting really excited... this will actually be our first festival other than Bonnaroo!
It defiantly wasn't Candlewood. Apparently, there isn't one in Asheville.
EDIT: The other option may be to book a cheap room at Days Inn or Motel 6 (or something) and wait and see if someone wants to give up their reservations. It happened a few times last year, I know.
