Overall, I'm pretty happy with this. The R Kelly/Superjam/Billy/Weird Al conflict is heartbreaking, as I was stoked to see all of them. I'm gonna try to catch Billy in ATL on the way to Roo. Keep in mind that R Kelly starts 30 minutes before the rest, and the Superjam goes on for 30 after the rest, so I'll get to see at least some of those. Weird Al was a top 5, but he comes to town every year, so I might skip him if necessary. Super pleased that Wu Tang>AC is conflict free though, and I wasn't expecting to see EOTS either.
I did some planning ahead for potential conflicts. There were so any bands I wanted to see, that I tried to see how many I could catch at venues outside of Roo. It turns out that my plan worked marvelously, as I got to see The xx, Lord Huron, Porter Robinson, Boys Noize, Futurebirds, and Dwight Yoakam this year, and now they are easier to eliminate during their conflicts (though I'm bummed about missing The xx again to get a good spot for McCartney). By the time I go to Hangout, I'll also have seen Twenty-one pilots (again, granted), Nicki Bluhm, Reptar, Jim James, Conspirator, Grizzly Bear, Wolfgang Gartner, Dirty Projectors, Mowglis, Drew Holcomb, Delta Rae, Macklemore, Kendrick, and The Sheepdogs ALL beforehand. So that helps with conflicts a lot.
I might try to catch Killer Mike (with Big Boi), Charli XCX and TTMOE at other various shows before I go too.
bjork 7-830?! followed by quacking lumineers with only exclusive set besides 3 major headliners?! wtf? superjam conflicts? stacks and stacks of 50-60 min slots? (barely enough time for many bands to get going...) late night gaps with absolutely nothing?! no gov't mule late night! no bjork after dark!! you like djs? all at once. you like older shiz? all at once. weirdness abounds, clumsy heavy hands at work. p.s. at least byrne into petty closes up whole weekend w/o conflict. thr & sun looking like best days!
Any chance AC wises up and realizes that Bjork vs Beach House is terrible and the schedule gets amended? Do these types of changes ever happen?
i don't get why that is a terrible conflict.
Well based on different people's musical tastes they have different ideas of which conflicts they deem to be terrible.
Bjork and Beach House are my #1&2 shows, so it sucks for me. And when you add Cat Power to the conflict, it seems to me like there is a lot of cross appeal there.

i just mean genre wise. i get that people like bands and sometimes those bands play at the same time and thos people have a sad time but what about bjork's version of trip hop conflicts with beach house's beach wave?

Specific genre's no. But all 3 are generically indie alt artists.
And its not like R Kelly, Weird Al, and Billy Idol are the same genre, but people seems to really dislike that one.
I was upset at the Wilco vs Jim James conflict, like many. So I did what everyone does when they have an issue these days. I made a petition on Change.org. Please sign and share, if anyone is going to listen to public demand, its the folks at Bonnaroo: www.change.org/petitions/bonnaroo-fix-the-jim-james-vs-wilco-schedule-conflict

I just want to rehash the absurdity of the following scheduling
Friday: Wilco pre-headling Macca has 4 conflicts: The xx, Jim James, John McLaughlin, and Conspirator
Saturday: The Lumineers are pre-headling M&S unopposed.
..So Friday has 5 high-moderate profile artists who span multiple genres conflicting, and Saturday has 3 hours with only 2 artists who are the exact same genre. I guess I'll finally get to knock the ferris wheel and silent disco off the checklist.

this is not accurate one act is playing what with an hour break between their set and the corresponding headliner, the other is closing the day time on which, recently a slot that has been unopposed. foster the people comes to mind immediately. those two shitty bands are very comparable in my opinion in terms of draw and douchey crowds.

I didn't mean for pre-headliner to be used literally like we normally do (what stage before headliner). my point is that on Friday there are 5 acts thatoverlap and play immediately before the headliner. On Saturday there is a significant amount of time with only the Lumineers playing before the headliner
Of course.....I make a post yesterday saying please don't put Portugal. The Man on the Which stage early in the day and they have a set at 2pm on the Which on Saturday.....terrible.
Hopefully the schedule changes/additions will include someone playing in That Tent Fri LN - maybe Polyphonic Spree 12-2 to fill in that gap or something....

I'm trying to keep pushing the positive vibes here everyone. How sick is Trombone Shorty opening the Main Stage!!! That's gonna be a perfect way to spend a friday afternoon. Here's my friday schedule - Broo'ers tent for one or two before Shorty... Trombone time... followed by some epic Prater's bbq... then Local Natives on the ol' main stage as well! Pretty sweet deal there if you ask me.
Follow that up with a nap in the RV then Jim James > Paul McCartney > ZZ Top > Pretty Lights (and lots of beer with all of those) and I say you've had yourself a pretty amazing friday.

Way to make our generation look good.
I don't get it? It's just a way to show the people at Bonnaroo that a lot of people feel a different way, instead of having various people complaining all over Twitter and forums.
Complaining about schedule conflicts is petty. Everyone has a conflict or ten, it's part of being at a festival. Suck it up and pick one or the other, or split your time between sets.
I'm seeing Father John Misty in Philly the weekend before Roo because I want to get a good spot for Alt-J. #toughlife
That's not a bad idea. I'm also probably going to do Tame Impala right after. That conflict is a mess. If only I could find Jim James and Conspirator shows...
So here's my two cents for whatever lineup discussion is still going on:
Thursday is amazing! Nicki Bluhm > Twenty One Pilots > Futurebirds/Araabmuzik (idk yet) > Walk the Moon > Deap Vally > Purity Ring > 1st half of Japandroids > Father John Misty > Alt J > ALO with Special Guest. This is going to be the most stacked day of the weekend for me and I'm pretty excited.
Friday hurts a little more. Sea Wolf > (pending) > Local Natives > Glen Hansard since I'll be seeing OMAM this month > Pasison Pit > Foals (or should I do Grizzly Bear? thoughts?) > Clusterfuck of Wilco/Jim James/Conspirator > Macca > ZZ Top/Wolfgang Gartner (haven't decided tho I saw ZZ about 13 years ago). Pretty Lights/Animal Collective (I'm gonna do half of each, maybe).
Saturday I'm mostly okay with mainly because I 'm not a big Bjork/CP/Beach house fan. I plan on starting a bit late with P.tM > Frank Turner > last bit of Gov't Mule > then it's pretty much open to suggestion or whatever I'm feeling until Lumineers/Mumford. I'll gut out to check the first couple of R Kelly songs and then hit superjam until I catch a bit of each of the final late night sets ending with Bustle. Really bummed about not being able to check out Billy Idol though.
Sunday might be a bit lazy for me. Lee Fields > Macklemore > Baroness > Noam Pikelny > Tame Impala > a few National Songs > Last bit of Bluegrass SJ until Tom Petty.
Open to suggestions for what I may be missing that is awesome. I know DB&SV is going to be sick but I'd really like to catch some bluegrass before Petty.

Personally I'm thinking Wilco > Conspirator and skipping JJ solo altogether. I mean its no MMJ and he's leading the superjam which I will NOT be missing.

I think we have at least 3 more additions coming since sunday is missing an opening slot on the Other Tent and LN has 2 missing slots on Friday in That. Last year 'roo filled the slots that were missing on the schedule so I hope that they will fill the LN slots with something.

this is my plan as well, except skipping conspirator (really disappointed about that). looking over JJ's setlists from the past few shows, he has been playing Regions of light and sound straight through, and then as an encore a MMUJ song or two (mostly Wonderful and/or Bermuda Highway) and then 4 to 5 Monsters of Folk songs and a song from his Woody guthrie tribute album. I like Regions ok, not nearly as much as wilco though. and I'm not really big into his MoF stuff.
Plus I'd rather see Wilco, and then post up and relax before macca then have to hike all over.
