Yeah, I get it. It's funny to tell others the right side of the stage is easier to access when it isn't. I've made that joke too.
Again, just wanting to get a general idea of how far back the field gets packed during the hour before a big headliner. In the past few years I've went, I've either tried for the pit line a few sets before or haven't bothered with the What stage at all.

You can get a good spot on the What if your posted up between the preHL and HL. It doesn't seem to get crowded until about 15-20 minutes before the HL.

candidate for: reason there are 4 acts conflicting before the HL on Friday night and literally nothing but lumineers on Saturday night.

You're forgetting "funny noises with the dude from Police Academy."
You're also forgetting that the fresh, hip sounds of the Revivalists will be happening during the Lumineers.
Not sure if joking, but the Revivalists are outstanding live. Just watched them destroy the Gentilly stage at jazzfest. They are way more raw and loud then their studio material suggests. I am stoked for their cafe set.
Well maybe because the Divine Fits have played 90+ min shows since they started touring. That might have something to do with it. I heard a rumor that bands are allowed to play songs longer than they appear on albums and with special permission they are even allowed to play new songs that have yet to appear on an album or songs that appeared on other artists albums (such as Frank Ocean or Tom Petty).

i heard you're a fucking moron. considering i already posted about set list length, you can probably extrapolate i've seen an actual setlist.
i actually asked if divine fits ever played 90 minute shows, and then you respond to that question in an idiotic way. thanks for your contributions.

Your contributions are way better. Please, keep doing what you're doing.
i think the best time to go check out a comedy show for me this year will be David Cross on Sunday. skip out on Macklemore, and still get out in time to catch all of noam pikelny. otherwise there is a band I'd rather see playing at all other times.
So after much deliberation, I am going to see Glen Hansard over Of Monsters and Men. Even though I'm pratically in love with Nanna I am seeing them in Columbus in a couple weeks. I know their sound falls into the pop-indie-folk that so many people are bitching about lately but I still like it and them especially. That being said, Glen Hansard is going to kill it and will be a show worthy of not missing. Check out his live stuff here... watched this vid last night and bumped him up into my top 10 must sees of the weekend.

So I am really late to the party considering I wasn't planning on going to Roo until tonight. I decided I didn't want to even get into the schedule if I wasn't going. Anyways, here are a few thoughts I have:
1. Thursday is stacked, but fortunately I have seen several bands already which will help with conflicts. Walk the Moon, Milo Greene, and Twenty One Pilots are all fun shows, especially for that early in the day, but I'm going elsewhere most likely. I've already decided I'm skipping Father John Misty in order to insure a great spot for Alt J. They are a high priority for the whole festival plus Japandroids look like a heck of a good time. Django Django and Purity Ring might both get a look-see since I'm not a huge fan of either, but like some of both.
Right now I'm looking at Johnnyswim > Nicki Bluhm > twenty one pilots > Futurebirds > Houndmouth > Django/Purity > Japandroids > Alt J > Vaccines
2. The Jim James / Wilco conflict would have killed me except for the fact that I caught Jim James at Skaky Knees this past weekend. All in on Wilco and not even looking twice. Also Calexico can possibly sneak in and steal the weekend for me. I've had them on my need to see list for a while and Algiers is a masterpiece. Missing Local Natives is going to suck, but I prefer a good spot for Nanna and the rest of OMaM. If you are at the back of the Where crowd before Macca goes on, catch On an On at Cafe Where. You won't be disappointed. Also if you skip Macca for some reason, go see Matrimony. They are a lot of fun too.
Right now Bernhoft > Calexico > Of Monsters and Men > Wilco > Sir Paul > ZZ Top > Animal Collective til I get bored
3. Saturday is by far the biggest snoozer in a long time. There isn't a single band on the Which or What that I want to see except for Mumford, which I've been wanting to see since I first heard "Serve God, love me and mend". Staying in the tents all day might be a blessing in disguise, but seeing so many high profile spots go to bands I don't care about sort of blows. Also having seen the Lumineers at Shaky Knees makes getting a good spot for Mumford a very easy decision.
Matthew E. White > Lord Huron > Tallest Man On Earth > Drew Holcomb > Bjork > Mumford > Superjam > Bustle in your Hedgerow
4. I'm not sure why Kacey Musgraves is still listed as a Club act on the Bonnaroo website when she is slotted for Which. I am a vocal hater of popular country music, but her album is the one of my favorites of the year from a songwriting perspective. Don't overlook her just because she is getting all kinds of play time on pop country radio. Regardless, Sunday is going to be the chillest of days for me. Definitely going to not plan much and see what happens.
Kacey Musgraves > John Fulbright > Edward Sharpe partial > The National > Tom Petty
The fact that I'm going to knock Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, ZZ Top, Mumford and Sons, Wilco, Calexico and the National off of my bucket list is pretty spectacular. Everything else is just gravy.
