Is anyone concerned about the soundbleed from the Which stage during Pretty Lights affecting An Co. I like both but it reminds me of Skrillz vs. the Superjam last year.
Conflicts always suck, but I always wind up changing my schedule once I'm there anyway. You could make a great festival from the bands that I missed at Bonnaroo.
Friday is conflict free for me! I'm so stoked. This not knowing many bands thing worked out in my favor this year.
READY FOR MY FIRST ROOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You don't know many bands on the lineup?
I don't. Honestly when I joined this site all I've heard was Macca. There were bands I've heard of but I never listened to them.
I've discovered so much new music since I joined this site though. @superfurryanimal has been really helpful in expanding my musical knowledge for this fest. So what's awesome is for Thurs, Sat, and Sunday I have ton of music to discover still. Friday is gonna rock my world though. Local Natives, Amadou and Mariam, Wilco, PAUL MCCARTNEY, Wu, and Animal Collective.

We have a gap at 1:00 am on Fri night that is reminiscent of the same gap we had last year for the AvS Magic Fountain secret set. I wonder what it's going to be this year.

Skrillex sound bleed wasnt just the superjam, it was the entire Centeroo to my damn tent. I put earplugs in and could still hear dubstep.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

Pretty Lights did not get $800,000, so they won't be as loud. And AnCo is used to being screwed by Bonnaroo.

yessssssssssss
Welcome, I was the same way in 2007 when I went to my first Bonnaroo. If it wasn't a headliner, I'd never heard of it. I honestly cannot imagine now not discovering My Morning Jacket and so many other bands and crazy late night shit that I still don't really understand. Last year, I had never heard of Big Gigantic, but they were so much fun on Thursday. Every year there are bands like that and I'm thankful to be introduced to them.
just went thru my top 20 that I ranked prior to the schedule coming out.
biggest conflicts:
Swans / Tame Impala / The National - 3 bands in my top 11. Will probably skip Swans as I'm seeing them at Pitchfork and to get a good spot for Tame Impala which will have a huge quacking crowd for The Other tent. Guessing Sleigh Bells size. Will catch the end of the National as I'll see them when they do a full tour. Also White Lung before Petty will be an incredible way to close the fest.
Portugal. The Man / Death Grips - P.TM is one of my favorite bands and I think I've seen them at least 10 times in the past 4 years because of that and the insane Death Grips set at Coachella 2 years ago - I'm going to Death Grips. The Other Tent is the perfect place for this sweaty mess of a show.
What I love:
Thursday Night This - reminds me of Band of Skulls > Deerhunter > The Walkmen on how I'll grab the back rail in front of the sound board and stay there for Japandroids > alt-j > The Vaccines
Foals > Jim James - yeah I'm going to miss Grizzly Bear, but this will set me up for a great spot for my #1 act of the weekend
Also strange is the scheduling of the Lumineers > Mumford
They are really going to try to get me to like this kind of music huh?
No, they're trying keep the crowds moving. They know lots of people will just sit at What for 4 hours of its Lumineers > Mumford on Saturday. It was inevitable. They rarely schedule two larger and very similar acts back to back like that.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Also strange is the scheduling of the Lumineers > Mumford

From a money-making standpoint, they assume that a lot of the people wanting to see the Lumineers will also want to see Mumford, so scheduling them like this is a good way to get foot traffic walking past the food and beer vendors as they make the walk over to the What.

I'm really, really puzzled as to why they did Bjork vs. Beach House and overlapping Cat Power, with Bjork leading into Mumford, while the Lumineers are mostly unopposed on Which. Did they think that the Lumineers are such a big draw that having them vs. Beach House and company would lead to those other stages being empty? Because having the Lumineers -> Mumford & Sons on What, with Bjork closing out the Which, makes a hell of a lot more sense. First, it's reasonable to think that the people who are high on the Lumineers are probably more likely to want to see Mumford, so you keep a greater concentration of people at the What stage. As it is, there will be a fair amount who see the Lumineers and rush over to see Mumford. Second, there are probably plenty of people who don't really care for the Lumineers and Mumford's own style of semi-folky pop music. For those people, after Bjork ends, there's nothing but three hours of boredom.
I kind of get why the Lumineers are getting the special "almost a headliner" treatment - right now, over 10K have added them to their schedule, compared to 384 for Bjork. No, seriously. But it's still a really, really bad decision.
Couple of the bands had their "like" button reset. Same thing happened to Weird Al. It think Bjork was at ~5-6K before the reset. Other than that, there is always the cinema tent.
