I really like the description of the set up for the stages. Neil never does Heart Of Gold with Crazy Horse though. I'd probably lose my shit if he played it during his solo acoustic portion of the set.
Can't remember if it was this board or another where someone speculated that this was a "one time thing." Well, I have good news for everyone, it sure isn't! From an interview with Peter Shapiro, the man running the fest, in Rolling Stone:
The festival is still a month away, but Shapiro is already thinking about next year. "I don't want to jinx it, though," he says. "But the way things are looking now, we're looking at the weekend after Labor Day in 2014."
Yep. That was me. Someone told me that, but it was obviously just speculation.

From the website's FAQ's.
Will there be assistance available to help getting gear from the Tent-Only parking area to the Tent-Only camping area? Yes, assistance will be available.

The schedule has changed. Pegi Young & the Survivors were moved from Saturday to Friday. If the bands are supposed to be getting similar set times each day then I feel like this just opened two more slots on Saturday.

That also makes me think Neil will be rolling in to the fest on Friday morning. Could see him join in a set or two.
I'm still surprised/disappointed that they are not selling day tickets. As long as they would have been under $90 I would have been in for a Saturday ticket.
I saw a dude wearing an Interlocken Fest t-shirt a couple weeks ago. I thought that was a pretty jamband-hipster-esque thing to do, bro was rocking the shirt of a fest that hasn't even occurred yet.
I've already got the DVD. Watched it the other night.

ive been kind of wondering... they seem pretty adamant about not allowing recording at the shows. do you think this might imply that they are going to be making/selling a dvd? *shut up and take my money* for a dvd of one of NYCH's last performances
Just got an email about "forest camping" - $249 a campsite. Ouch. Seems like the only luxury is shade from the trees and it being a little bit closer than car camping. I'll just stick with my EZ-Up for shade!

Don't be confused. You got the email because you already have tickets. If you're like me and you bought your ticket at the tier 1 price of $249, you only have to pay the difference of... carry the zero... oh, NOTHING. The email said that you only pay the difference in price. So if you already paid 249, then the upgrade is free. As much as I've found it insanely convenient in my past festival experience to have my car next to my tent for storing valuables and charging my phone, camping in the woods, as apposed to in a field, is really damn appealing for no extra cost.

Are you sure? Yeah I paid $2-something for an event ticket, but my camping pass was only like $20. I read it as the difference between camping passes - $249-$20=$229. Too much.
It seems ridiculous, but that's how I'm reading it too.
Sure? No, I'm not sure. I do, however, find it very hard to believe that they would expect anyone to pay an extra $230 just to camp under some trees. I could be wrong, however. I'm sort of in between on car camping and forest camping. I'm sure I'll give in by tomorrow and shoot the email over to them for a spot at forest camping. As soon as I hear back, if I decide to go that way, I'll report back what I find out.
So I called the number in the email, and the guy at Music Today said they know Interlocken sent out this email, but they don't even have the details yet. They're working on figuring out what's going on and will hopefully send out another email with more details on what to actually do to upgrade. Otherwise, he said to check in again tomorrow.
So to summarize. No one knows what the fuck is up.
Pulled this out of the email - ".. and would like to purchase the Forest Camping upgrade for the difference in price. Forest camping is $249 per site"
Reading that it makes me think that since I paid $20 for car camping, I'd pay the difference which would be $229. I really am baffled that they think anyone would pay more for that if the only luxury is a closer spot and shade. Seriously, the only way I'd dish out $250 for camping (which is more than I paid for my ticket!) is if it was VIP - tons of perks included.

I think these guys just have a tough time explaining the details in their initial announcements. No way is a spot under a tree with no additional perks worth $220.
That email about tree camping was very confusing. I think that the logistics of this Festival are questionable, but everything else about it will more than make up for that.
On a separate note, is anyone going to the festival past Charlottesville? I could use a ride from the airport in Charlottesville on Thursday. PM me if you're able to help.
Due to an accident involving Crazy Horse, the remaining dates on the Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour of Europe and the British isles have been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the Festivals where we were scheduled to appear. As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events.
-- Neil Young and Crazy Horse
Young and his band were expected to play a mix of headlining dates and festival appearances between tonight and August 19. Hopefully the group's North American dates aren't in jeopardy.
UPDATE: According to Rolling Stone, guitarist Frank "Poncho" Sampedro broke his hand leading to the cancellations.
i imagine a broken hand isn't exactly something that can heal up in less than a month. fingers crossed that bob weir steps up and fills in for him. how amazing would that be?
edit: that's what I get for being overanxious and posting before i read the rolling stone article. a quote from said article:
"It's a mild fracture," a source close to the Young camp tells Rolling Stone. "He's expected to make a complete recovery in time for the North American tour."

I'm sorry, but what the hell are you talking about?
The Interlocken site clearly states that taping will be allowed (in fact, they encourage it).
