The Boss on the beach would be epic! I love the idea of vampire weekend into arcade fire on Friday. Not sure about AF with Memphis and NO fests being likely. Springsteen for 3 hours minimum Saturday night. Not sold on Phish, but would work. I could see Sunday night being Billy Joel since he is prepping for MSG shows and Jan. shows in Fla. Lionel Richie isn't out of the question as well. Good comparison to Stevie and his set that I saw in Nashville was great. And by most accounts his set at ACL was great. That being said I have no idea- pure speculation. Like everyone else I am antsy as can be. Can some local go shake someone down and get us some answers!

Honestly, I hope you're right about the pull Hangout has. I have no idea personally but I feel like that would be such a huge draw for this festival that I don't wanna get my hopes up. I'm not a huge Springsteen fan by any means but I respect the great show he puts on and it would be a ton of fun. A lot more fun than Petty or Stevie were last year. I really want Pearl Jam though. I could care less about the other 2 headliners if Pearl Jam got to play one of the nights. Again, they seem like a good match too. :fingers crossed:
They're radically different from the majority of what Hangout books. They're headlining Austin Psych Fest and reportedly playing Beale Street (which is booked by the same company as Hangout this year) so it makes sense.
Well I'm all for them mixing up the genre's and thinking outside the box for the undercard for sure. Still surprised there aren't more solid rumors as of now compared to other years.
Just from browsing some other festivals, looks like Vampire Weekend is going to be in the area close to Hangout. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I could see them in the Yeah, Yeah, Yeah's spot from last year.

Either spot works. They are big enough to close Chevy for sure. Their show is ideal for the beach. Caught them at Lolla and in the Ryman; the crowd had a great energy both times. Along with Phoenix, QotSA , one of the best live bands I saw last year!

Bored at work, taking a shot at a semi-realistic hope for the top few lines this year...
ARCADE FIRE - OUTKAST - PEARL JAM VAMPIRE WEEKEND - PRIMAL SCREAM - QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE THE FLAMING LIPS - AVICII - OF MONSTERS AND MEN - PRETTY LIGHTS UMPHREY'S MCGEE - LANA DEL RAY - JULIAN CASABLANCAS - ARCTIC MONKEYS BONE THUGS 'N HARMONY - DAVE MATTHEWS & TIM REYNOLDS - GORILLAZ - TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB PORTUGAL. THE MAN - THE NEIGHBORHOOD - AFI - THE HEAD AND THE HEART - DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS
This is by no means who I'd want necessarily but just looking at some rumors for other festivals as well as some bands I'd personally want mixed in that I think Hangout can get...

How much overflow has HMF had with BUKU in years past? Some big DJ acts- Zedd, Kaskade, and David Guetta. Could one of those names play the Chevy spot that bass nectar did last year?

This would please me. Gorillaz are a headliner everywhere at this point due to the cool nature of the live show. It would take an arm and a leg to book them. I like the speculation though. Everything else could be very plausible to some extent.

Queens of the stone age in Oklahoma May 14th. Nothing else until may 29 through early June overseas. Looks favorable- Hangout stage sub headlining spot for sure!

Alright now we're gettin' somewhere... Reasonable matchups for Vampire Weekend, Primal Scream, and Queens plus it seems like it's a lock for Flaming Lips and Portugal. The Man. If we're on to anything, this would be a nice start so far.

Passion Pit, Kendrick Lamar, Best Coast, and Public Enemy crossed over last year, and Big Gigantic played the Hangout pre-party and BUKU, so yes, there could be a lot of potential crossover here.
Ya I definitely underestimated the type of pull they would be. I mean I like them, never seen 'em live, but I wouldn't be all up in arms about seeing them. Sounds like that's not really possible.
I mean, Gorillaz isn't active right now, what with Albarn concentrating on Blur, his solo album, and a billion other things. So that's one strike against such a booking. They're also a pretty rare touring act, and an even rarer festival act. That's two strikes. They also wouldn't be on the 6th line of a lineup behind sh*t like Lana Del Ray, so that's three. But yeah, Gorillaz isn't happening anywhere anytime soon.

I have to ask a question that my brother asked me a couple of days ago. He feels like if outkast is their that they will be the Saturday Chevy closer instead of a DJ and not main stage HLer. What do u guys think? I think outkast into pearl jam would be an epic trip back through high school, but outkast is plenty of headliner for me. Outkast - headliner or Chevy closer?

I think it's gotta be a headliner. I would also guess Pearl Jam would close out the fest on Sunday, unless they could pull Bruce.
Probably more like the Public Enemy slot in the Boom Boom Tent last year.
I was walking over to the Hangout to get some lunch while they were playing. I was laughin my ass off, looked like an awesome time. Just caught a few minutes of it.
I may be naive but is Primal Scream really a Chevy Stage closer at Hangout? It seems like they have had larger acts in the past for that slot. I honestly did not know a whole lot about Primal Scream before they originally came up in this thread and dig them after listening to a bunch of their stuff but I do not know if they have the American following to be a Chevy closer. I asked around and most of my friends who are all musically inclined knew them but didn't think they'd be a big draw. Maybe just not thta big in NY???
