I honestly think we could bank on Pretty Lights being one of the Chevy stage closers this year like Bassnectar was last year. He hasn't been back since 2011 and has only gotten bigger. Just makes too much sense.
Also think one of the jam band types gets in (Phish as always rumored, Trey loves the beach with his band, Ratdog touring, Phil and Friends Touring, Widespread Panic is due to be back soon)
Agreed on Pretty Lights possibly returning. I feel like this year is probably going to be pretty jamband free with Huka off the case and Red Mountain supposedly curating the fest.
And I think the top 6 is going to look something like this: Bruce Springsteen | Arcade Fire | Jack Johnson Pretty Lights | QOTSA or VW | Flaming Lips
Wouldn't you say Vampire Weekend based on their festival history and the fact that they have dates open has potential too?
Yes, I would, I didn't add that quite yet cause it's a bit more far fetched than the others. Along those same lines, Local Natives seem attainable as well with their tour dates.

I would be completely okay with that and have a blast. Not a huge Jack Johnson or Arcade Fire fan but JJ fits the mold of the fest and Arcade Fire would just be a cool show to see. Give me those 3 over last years' 100%. Honestly, Umphrey's headlining a night would make my weekend but I know they're not on that level yet.

I could dance to this!
I would like to personally see Pearl Jam instead of Arcade Fire(seeing them MAy 1st in Nashville)

And I agree with the Jamband decrease of HMF.
100%. But I don't know if they could get Bruce and PJ. Not sure what that would mean cost wise.

How much more is Bruce/PJ/JJ v Petty/Wonder/KoL? I hate the $ debate, but if that economics professor was right, what is the difference 3 million and 5 million for headliners if you sell 8 to 10 thousand more tickets and make up the difference. IF HMF wants to sell this thing out they obviously have to do better than last year. Why not PJ and Bruce? It's the 5th anniversary and (no renewal yet with the city for 2015? not sure if this is correct), go all out and lets party!

Boss and PJ may be a little too similar. Maybe not, but Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters together didn't sell very well a few miles down the road in Pensacola. Hangout has a much better reputation that Deluna did with more marketing dollars and more presence in the scene, so that would ensure a sell out, probably. It just seems like festivals like these try to spread it out a bit with their headliners. I've been convinced to go just because I want to see what is going to be different. Condo is already booked.
And these headliners don't cost as much as you'd think. Most big ones are around a mill, and the others are under that, from what I've been told over the years. Last I heard, the most expensive ones were those that wanted a percentage deal as well, which seems wild, but hey, you do what you gotta do for the biggest names I guess.

It did great in Atlanta! Foos and PJ killed at Midtown (Sold out- 55,000 both days). I would have gone to Deluna but Midtown was closer. I think that hurt a lot. I think to get Bruce and PJ would be great for the 5 year, but I agree it maybe too big. Thanks for the info on $, it always seems like heresay with that conversation.
I will put Schlong's speculation in the bank though! I feel like a Press your luck contestant waiting for this line-up. No whammies, no whammies! STOP!

Ya I personally have no idea what the costs are, but I feel like compared to past lineups having those 2 would be pretty huge. However, they did also up the prices this year so who knows. Just don't want to get my hopes up for anything too crazy especially after last year. I had a ton of fun but the headliners last year were not well received after all the anticipation and delay.
i'm out for hangout, going to disney with the family instead. got an extra presale ticket if anyone is interested.
Let me check on this. I'm in a group of 10. If someone bites before I get back with you, go ahead. Did they do physical tickets or a voucher for that or what?

awesome, just shoot me a PM if you're interested.
Last year they just mailed the wristband, I'm sure they'll do the same this year. Presale price was $217.50 all in.

Why Jamband free? Red Mountain has booked/promoted lots of jam friendly bands including WSP numerous times.

eh, I just meant it won't be like f'n 25%+ of the lineup like it has been in the past. I'm sure they'll get a couple, but I'm not expecting a return of WSP this soon or anyone big enough to close either of the beach stages. And really who else is left that hasn't played that could do that? Phish or Phil Lesh & Friends?

Given HO history, I would say it will be more surprising if one of phish/wsp/sci/abb is not there. We've already had repeat TAB and several others, so that is not a factor.

I'd be really, really surprised if Arcade Fire is there.
Well he said one more festival that he couldn't say in addition to Coachella and counterpoint. Could be Hangout, could be Roo or Lolla idk. Just throwin' it out there.
