We are just hoping for Bruce! Let us dream, we all friggin know we are getting some form of jack Johnson, vampire weekend, the killers type nonsense, avett brothers, lionel richie and overrated DJ on a beach. But let us hope!
Until bruce and PJ have other dates or the lineup comes out, we are gonna dream. Deal with it! At least it entertains your bored face at work. Don't lie you come here for entertainment. Are you not entertained?!

This is the most puzzling thing about Hangout. Why is it so hard for the people who enjoy it to admit that it's on the second-tier of festivals? It's pretty clear that there is a well-defined "big 4" in the U.S. of Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, ACL. Admitting that Hangout is half the size of those fests and doesn't necessarily book the same caliber lineup isn't some sort of badge of shame. It's being realistic.
Chareth, do you attend the hangout, or just troll this board.
Secondly, if the bands that headline the hangout also headline the 'big 4' then why are they 2nd tier headliners at the hangout? Yes, the hangout is capped at 35k, so it will never have as many attendees or bands, but the band overlap with the big 4 is irrefutable.
Ok then, daily guess with toned down expectations...
Zac Brown Band - Pearl Jam - Sting & Paul Simon
Queens of the Stone Age - Avicii - Vampire Weekend - Umphrey's McGee
I personally think Umphrey's would kill it as a Chevy closer with their full lighting set up and a longer time slot but I doubt they're looked at the same way by this booking company. I get the strong feeling one of the headliners is going to be someone out of nowhere. Like now we know Kings of Leon had the new album and everything so it makes sense. But they were non existent for 2 years basically so that really caught me by surprise when the lineup came out. I figure there will be at least one shared headliner with Roo but the other 2 I don't even have an educated guess other than Pearl Jam.
are there any confirmed acts other than Amos Lee right now? I've heard the 1975 and Aoki might be confirmed too, true?
How likely is it that Outkast does play bcuz that would be amazing for me even if they dont headline.
the one thing i havent really seen mentioned is any smaller rap/hip hop acts, does anyone have a idea who could be playing? Last year I saw the Roots, Chancellor Warhol, Kendrick, and PE and loved all of their sets. Missed Macklemore bcuz Passion Pit was killing it but I heard he was pretty great too.

None that I know of that are 100% confirmed, just some that make sense and are likely- Flaming Lips, Portugal. the Man. I was wondering the same thing about rap/hip hop too though. Haven't heard of any likely candidates to this point.
I love Portugal the Man that would be great seeing them. i did hear they were at the Hangout and did a set or something a few months ago. is there anywhere to read about possible acts or rumors or just educated guesses? I know the lineup is suppose to be annoucned early next year but is there a date set for it?

They are already playing Birmingham & Mobile in the Spring and played last years. I doubt they will be back this year.

F. I guess I've been spoiled with them being at Hangout every year. Make sense though.

I am feeling Pearl Jam- Jack Johnson- Vampire Weekend right now. Before you poo-poo VW, listen. They have two #1 albums, front runner for Grammy and fit the hangout vibe to a T. They were #6 at Lolla last year which is a headliner even though the 7 postal service got the last festival show bump. Not worried about the sloss furnace show in Birmingham affecting them at all- April 28th is far enough away. Plus Birmingham is 3-4 hours. People play Nashville around the first of May all the time before Beale street. Same difference.
Friday- Chevy- queens Main- VW
Saturday- DJ- avicii/David Guetta Main Jack Johnson
Sunday- avetts- 2 hours PJ- 3 hours.
Insert MMJ in for avetts if you want. Sound garden is a possibility somewhere- their popularity is difficult to gauge.

One band that we haven't talked about yet is foster the people. Could they headline? Think about it before you say no. Firefly headliner last year, killed their 2012 set at Roo, new album in 2014, Facebook pictures of them rehearsing. They could be the out of nowhere headliner.

All 3 of those acts will play or have already played major fests this or next year. Only one that I could see being out is Dead Weather, since they may hold off until the full album release is here.

Saw them eariler this year. The Old stuff was great new stuff not so great but maybe they just needed some more pratice. And Mark Foster should not be allow to tell stories. We got a 10min ramble about a fire escape (one of their new songs).
I could definitely roll with those options too. I never really gave VW a chance but I know they put on a good show at Lolla (watched it on the stream after the fact) and at least there's a "rockier" aspect to them. Stevie was puttin me and my group to sleep on Sunday night. 4 days of chaos will do that to ya by the last headliner. He didn't help though.
And to beat it into your head a little further: Bruce drew more people to Jazzfest last year than anyone that I have personally ever seen in my experience of that festival. Many of my friends that NEVER go to festivals went just to see him. And he is probably pretty close to the level of Macca in terms of cost. If Hangout were to pull someone on the level of Macca or Bruce, the rest of the lineup would suffer because he would be more than half of their talent budget. Festivals like Roo, Coachella, ACL, and Lolla probably have twice the talent budget of Hangout because they are not limited to 35K dickets and are able to charge more because they actually bring the talent that draws (and nearly twice as much of it). The major draw of Hangout is the location and beach vacation side package. And they had trouble selling tickets this year. They swapped talent handling agencies. If they actually produce a lineup that sells out quickly, and feel comfortable raising the ticket price to about $300 for 2015, then they might be able to afford something comparable to Bruca and PJ in the top 2. If they get Bruce this year...the rest of the lineup is probably going to suffer. Which isn't a bad thing necessary as long as they book relevant bands. But if they get a bunch of the mouth-breather rock that Red Mountain Ent typically books for Beale Street and Bayfest. The people that want to see that type of sh*t are probably not forking out $220+. I could be wrong though...see previous statement about the major draw of hangout. Salt Life'd
Bruce does have an album coming out shortly which would put him back on tour in the Spring. Even though Bruce has played Bonnaroo in the past, I still think Bruce plays Jazzfest which as this fits his demographics and Superfly has booked him twice before and both shows were considered some of the best ever performed at Jazzfest. If that happens this would definitely eliminate him from Hangout.
I do think Zac Brown is a good bet.
Possibles:
PJ Paul McCartney? need one biggie oldier band for the demographics Nauts (new collaboration with Dave Matthews, Jakob Dylan. Charlie Sexton) if decides to do a mini-tour with this group instead of DMB. Galactic (last year's show was excellent) Alabama Shakes (another return engagement and they are on the road) Lorde and/or Paramore (Last year was the first time they had 2 main stage acts with Female leads and it went over well so I figure they'll try and duplicate that again this yr) J Rodney Watson and the Business (these guys are up and coming and fit the mold- excellent set at LaLa 2 yrs ago)- smaller stage Okkerville River- same Cage the Elephant- on tour again

Other Probability- Police would seem to be a good probability as their current tour ends in March and is suppose to be extended. This would seem to line up for Hangout and fits the one 80's act that Hangout tries to hit on every year.
