Anyone else see the irony in name dropping 'portlandia' to make this point? .....and the point is to see what other music enthusiasts are into. I got into akron/familyfamily because of a thread just like this.
Not name dropping Portlandia. Literally everyone has heard of it, so the fact that I know about it does not bring my any extra "cred"
Yep, right up there with Seinfeld.....less 21 million viewers.
So just simplifying things, does anyone have any other predictions for headliners other than:
Friday: Jack Johnson Saturday: OutKast Sunday: The Killers/Pearl Jam
I feel like given the rumors and overall likelihood of these acts playing pretty much leaves us with this. I think it's probably the Killers but if the hiatus is real by the standards people think (as in nothing at all in the next 6 months or so), it would seem PJ is a very logical choice. Nothing is for sure but at this point it would seem this seems most likely.
I like where you're going with this, but I think this prediction is missing an old guy headliner. Like older than Pearl Jam (Where Springsteen or NY&CH would come in) - but then again I could be wrong since the Jack White/RHCP/DMB year kind of threw that out the window. The question is, is Pearl Jam's crowd old enough and large enough to sell the VIP and Super VIP tickets...? I don't think The Killers could do it - too "new".
I got scared when someone mentioned Journey, so I checked. They're in LA on the 16th and Phoenix on the 18th so we're probably safe.
Hopefully Bombay Bicycle Club comes to the beach. New album coming out sounds great so far, and their Europe tour dates end in March heading into a U.S. tour schedule
Looks like they're in Nashville on the 14th and nothing scheduled until Dallas on the 17th, so I'd say they could be a Friday possibility for sure.
^^^ Absolutely. Me and my group got a nice spot. Smack dab between Sea and Suds and the fest, like .3 miles away on the east side. It's those San Carlos condos. Anyone stay there before? We got a group of like 11 guys on the 8th floor.
That's where we stayed last year and it was the best place yet. We stayed on the 16th floor in a LARGE 3 br 3 ba unit. Close to 1,800 sq ft and there were eight of us. We probably had room for 2 more. Here's the view from the 16th floor...

Holy shit that's awesome. Yeah I got 11 confirmed now. Well squeeze it wont be an issue.
Dave Matthews announced hsi summer Tour. In Texas on the 16th and 17th and then nothing until Tulsa on the 21st. Could be a Sunday player with The Nauts or somehting based on that schedule. I'm not a Dave fan particularly but could be in for a Nauts show down the undercard.

About how far from the east gate would this be? I'm staying on the west side this year for the first time, about 2 miles out but we have shuttle passes. I couldn't do the "massive group driving from ob" thing again this year, it's just so unsafe and thus stressful to me. Got a nice house on the beach so I'm excited. Any west side advice would be appreciated.

The west gate is a breeze to get in. I've never had to wait over a couple of minutes to get through security... and the one time I had to wait two minutes, it was because the shuttle just unloaded. Easy peasy.
So I was just listening to Rage while working out and I have to ask, is there any validity to that post about Moon Taxi doing a Rage set? I'm assuming no but that wud be a nice little gem for me personally.
Phoenix would just be a great Chevy sunset show, just really ideal. That Outcast drummer is something else, ay Shlongy? Wonder if My Morning Jacket will be back? San Carlos is .4 miles East of hwy 59 and the entrance and you can hear the main stage really well from the balcony. Curious as to the Pearl Jam guesses, are those just wishes? Jan 15 lineup announcements as of now: Shaky Knees (in ATL, but is indie rock/Americana, so no Outkast prolly), Counterpoint, Gov's Ball, Hangout, The Charleston Comedy Festival and the Athena Film Festival and the Tri Cities Watermelon Festival I hope that Outkast isn't playing a bunch of these.

Can't take this seriously with a hashtag in front of it. What's the reasoning? I've never followed them, is this something they've done before? Even if it is basically a cover performance at least it's harder rock than typically has played Hangout.

Yeah man, they've done it before. Should be something new and awesome for hangout. I can't tell you who told me, but It's legit. 1 more week!
Man... I hope so. I love the chill vibe of Hangout and a ton of music that's been booked recently but I'm more of a hard rock guy at heart. So anything that gets me jumpin like Rage (or hopefully Queens of the Stone Age this year) is a huge plus for me and most of my friends too.
