Gross indeed man, what are they trying to do to us? This festival is expensive so shouldnt we get to see everyone we want? PL vs Porter is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, what were they thinken?

No I think he just says those people so he looks good, you can tell by PL's music there is nothing classic/hippie rock about it..he is pioneering his own sound!

Not hating but his name is a pink floyd reference. and he does some of their songs. should be a good show just trying to bridge a gap.

i will be at pretty lights. i'm bemoaning the fact that anyone enjoys porter robinson.
i hardly think that warrants a thread.
not to mention the fact that i wasn't replying to you.

"So how was Bonnaroo man?" "Awww it was awesome I saw Araabmuzik, Paper Diamond and he was all like 'WOB WOBBLE'. Friday didn't have many good bands but I was on the rail for Pretty Lights Real bummed I missed Porter Robinson though. Saturday I saw Clockwork, who was awesome, then I saw Four Tet who was too chill for me so I left. Then I camped at the Other Tent after A-Trak and got up front for Boys Noize! Then Sunday I left after Macklemore." "Oh nice man did you catch Grizzly Bear?" "Who?"
These are the people I think of when I read this thread. And before you get mad from that realization, I actually like Pretty Lights and I'm kinda bummed that I'm missing him for Animal Collective. But Pretty Light's songs will sound exactly the same as they do on your iPod.
I'm going to try my best to catch all 3 acts on LN Fri. I'll probably start off at Pretty Lights then goto Porter Robinson and end it at AnCo. I'm not a huge AnCo fan, mainly because I'm not too familiar with them, but I'd like to check them out and see what the hype is about.
at first i was confused as to why they would have them "conflict". but then i realized! just switch between them! whats gonna be more awesome than going back and forth between the two acts? last year i was bouncing to and fro from das racist and bad brains. and i loved the contrasts. and i was running around during like all of skrillex. got to see it from all angles, feels more like a party than a concert when ya mosey. idk. i'm gonna be bouncin between them. maybe even w some good golly and its gonna be sweeeeet. granted most of my time will be during pretty lights. and i hope i dont miss hot like sauce

This is what I'm doing too. I haven't been too impressed with what I've heard of AnCo, but I just have this itching feeling that the live experience is not something that I want to miss completely.
do we know if pretty lights has updated his stage setup since 2012? was going to catch porter robinson instead since i just saw PL this past Fall, but caught porter at hangout and it was just alright. not an anco fan so thats not an option.
am digging the new tunes. its pretty insane that he recorded samples with live musicians, pressed those samples to vinyl, then sampled the vinyl. i like to reward that kind of over the top dedication to ones craft with fandom.

I always love the double standards around here
You could say the same thing for the people who only like jam bands, only go see indie rock, love that old-timey folk-vibe, only see main stage acts, stick to the obscure tents/stages, etc etc etc
Personal preference is just that, personal preference. If someone wants to come and see a bunch of electronic acts all weekend, good for them. Just because they don't align with YOUR idea of what's good that doesn't mean that they're not having their personal best time at Bonnaroo. God forbid they don't know a band on the lineup.
Everyone comes to Bonnaroo with different expectations, interests, and ideas for how they want to spend their time. You certainly can't begrudge someone for wanting to see PL over AnCo or R. Kelly over Billy Idol. It's all just personal preference.

porter robinson, specifically, is not of the same level of respected musician as those other acts. not remotely.
