Today, this horrible woman I work with went up to one of the newer kids and asked him what he'd like to do today since they're working together. He said he didn't care, she could pick and he'd do whatever. She then says, "No. you pick. Blacks had the right to vote before women."

FOR FUCKS SAKE WHO SAYS THAT.
Holy shit. Is this woman 8 million years old?
She's a real piece of work. She is supposed to be retiring in June (thank god), so i would put her around 60. She is a lesbian. She wears a rainbow flower in her very short hair and one earring. She meows at us sometimes. She gives off a very ignorant vibe, maybe even flat out racist we're not completely sure. It's a blurry line for her.
We have a girl that started a few months ago that's from Grenada. This woman walks up to her and says "I'm really surprised to hear that your name is ______, because of where you're from." It was genuinely one of those moments where you watch it happen, know it's wrong and should say something but you're in shock because who says that?
She also asked the girls mother if they lived in mud huts when they went back to visit Grenada. Like for real. I wish I was making this up.
So I work at a warehouse. Our territory was all of New England, but corporate also just gave us the Albany region from a facility in Pennsylvania.
We're hiring people, yet corporate also announced layoffs at the same time. So nobody knows what the hell is going on.
Ahh looks like the ole shake up and combine.
The layoffs are the old expensive folks...the new hires are the cheap replacements, and there will be fewer greenhorns to replace the "pricey" layoffs. But in the chaos no one will really be able to tell for sure.
The consolidation itself gets everyone in a tizzy. Layoffs keep folks working scared while hiring gives a glimmer of hope...chaos.
In the end it will be more work for your location but done overall by less folks more poorly compensated. So the company looks good in town and the workers are branded difficult if they complain about that great place "growing" more jobs.
So the dude that got hired in October is still grating my nerves. I am here first, due to the hour-not salary thing. He will come into the nice, quiet office and HAS to start talking. I usually am casual polite, nodding, saying yes or whatever but don't really talk because I am working and I don't like talking/people first thing in the morning. He is very nosy, will walk to the printer and look over to see what I am doing on my computer. He constantly interrupts and knows how to do everything and he drives me bat shit crazy, but I can handle it, until today. Today he decides he doesn't want to sit at his desk and sits at the conference desk that is basically in front of my desk. It was me, him and another employee that was in his office and he decided that in front of my desk it was cool to make a phone call. A very loud phone call. He hasn't sat at his desk at all today. He has talked all day to others that will listen to him. All the sales staff left and he was then standing in the doorway, once again trying to engage conversation with me while I am working.
I am trying not to be a bitch. I get it he is one of those people that needs to have constant attention and interrupt to tell his point of view or story in the middle of yours. But I can NOT take him today. He is making me fucking crazy. Stop being needy. Go sit at your fucking desk, and do some fucking work. UGH.
I work in a cubicle. Someone keeps walking through the main hall farting as loud as they can. I always poke my head up as quick as I can to see who it is, but they've always made the corner by the time I get my head above my wall.
I'm not complaining, I think it's great. Just thought you should all know we've got a phantom crop duster around here.

So my loud coworker stops by my cubicle as he happens to be walking by. At that moment, I have headphones on, nothing obviously open on my desk and my hand on my phone. He makes a comment expressing surprise that I have down time. I reply that everyone has moments of down time. He responds that he has not been caught up with his work in months then immediately corrects himself to say he was caught up for one day recently. I state that I am not caught up. I am taking a couple minutes in between tasks. He responds that he never gets to take moments because he is so busy all the time. This is total bullshit. I have frequently walked by his desk and seen him either playing with his phone or doing research/ordering for the Boy Scout troop at his church. Dude drives me crazy.
So I was off on NYD. I was paid for it and didn't think anything of it. Like oh okay they decided to give us holiday pay, that was nice. Today they send out an email saying that it was a mistake and they're going to take the money back out of this week's check. Not only that, he admonished for not notifying him of the mistake. Such bullshit.

Co-worker: So I finally talked my wife into going to the adult movie theater. Other co-worker and I: Uhhhhhhhhh Co-worker: You know. The one that serves beer and shows movies that are actually good. Other co-worker and I: Dude, you probably wanna rephrase that when you talk about it again. Co-worker: Why?... oh crap.

There's a whooooooole lot of slut shaming going on at my job right now and it's fucking infuriating. It's not towards me, but one of my like 3 friends there and now we all just want to quit because HOLY FUCK THESE PEOPLE ARE GODDAMN IDIOTS.
I've been trying really hard to not wish ill upon people lately, but man oh man, do I wish some serious bad karma on those motherfuckers.
I was supposed to go back up to Idaho to work for the BLM again this summer. But with the federal hiring freeze, not sure where that stands at this point. Emailed my supervisor and he's out of the office for the next 2 weeks.

Fucking Trump.
I hear there are some openings for wall builders...
Seriously though that sucks. The majority of the research at my workplace is sponsored by federal agencies, so I am nervous about my job security as well. Especially since this idiot administration seems to have it out for science.
it's been so hard for me to get motivated with school this semester. which completely goes against the nature of my whole life - I've always loved school/learning and have never lacked motivation for almost anything academic. (I mean, an assignment here and there, sure. but not just completely unmotivated all around.)
I think it's a perfect storm of mental exhaustion from the political landscape, "senioritis" of it being my last semester, and working on projects that I'm not all that excited about.
this is just very weird for me and I can't figure out why my brain won't cooperate. ugh.
What is the most work appropriate way to say "I am not talking to you, about you or in regards to anything concerning any project you are a part of. Also, at last check you are neither my supervisor nor my mother so kindly f*ck off and stop trying to throw your two cents in on everything I speak about coworkers with."?
