Some CNA is sitting in the break room blasting some bullshit remix of that annoying "Cash Me Outside" girl and I want to scream.
I just want to eat my yogurt in peace.
There is a girl from my graduating high school class who turned into an Instagram star, mainly by getting popular on musical.ly. She put up a video tonight dancing and lip-singing to that popular remix.

It's casual Friday, and Coworker 1 is wearing her RBG t-shirt. Coworker 2 asked her, "Who is that on your shirt?" So Coworker 1 said, "Ruth Bader Ginsburg." To which Coworker 2 replied, "I don't know who that is." We work in the court system.

My girlfriend asked her Friend if she was afraid of Zika breaking out, her friend didn't know what Zika was.
Said friend is a nurse in the NICU at a large hospital in South Louisiana.

That does not make me feel safe as a person that lives in South Louisiana.
Everything that I was worried about happening to my position has slowly been happening and today is the final nail in the coffin. They have hired someone at headquarters to take over the production side of my job and want me to start doing circulation only now. We have a conference call at 3 so she can tell everyone how she is going to do all my job duties for production from Augusta.
The thing that sucks is that she is taking away the whole reason that I took this job. I am a graphic designer, not a circulation person. If they hired someone to do the circulation and allowed me to stay doing the job that is my actual field I wouldn't be forced to leave. My boss has not had my back from the beginning and she is going to be in for a rude awakening very soon, when she has to do her job instead of me doing it moving forward. So now I have to start job hunting and hope to find something in my field that will pay me enough money. But at this point, even if I have to take a small pay cut I will be leaving my job.

My supervisor has been back from vacation for a week and a half. So far, he has left early on at least three days, come in an hour later than normal on one day, and called in sick today.

Peculiar! Maybe he's got one foot out the door?
It's not really a new thing, the vacation just gave me a clear point to measure from. I'd say it's been like this for at least a year now.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Anybody else work with anyone that just decides not to show up frequently? And charges a 40 hour work week for about 30 hours of actually being here (I wouldn't qualify the time that they are here as actual work)

My boss does this all the time. She has been out since last Wednesday, she was supposed to be back today, but isn't back. She is leaving again tomorrow and won't be back until next Thursday. It doesn't really bother me, except I am the one that ends up doing her job.

This is part of what bothers me about my supervisor being out. Also, he's just really bad about not getting his shit done (like, if something's complicated, he'll hold on to it for months, when it should be turned around in no more than a week), so it's frustrating to see him bailing out of work when we know he has things that need to get done.

When I was hired, my boss' husband just had a stroke so I was trained to do a bunch of her stuff. I guess that is why it doesn't bother me. Corporate will ask me about stuff that is her responsibility, but when they ask for a list of my job duties my boss edits it so her stuff isn't in it and makes it seem like I do less than I do. It has fucked me over because now they are changing my responsibilities and moving me away from my actual field. I am in the process of job hunting because of it and that really sucks.

I guess what I am saying is I feel you.
Yeah, we had a pretty big change in working conditions a couple of years ago, and with my supervisor's shenanigans added to that, I'm really starting to get burned out on this job. I don't think I would mind it quite as much if I wasn't also 3000 miles away from most of my family and friends, living in a city I don't really like living in. So I am job hunting too, and it does really suck, especially because I don't really want any of the jobs that I'm most qualified for.
but when they ask for a list of my job duties my boss edits it so her stuff isn't in it
I would have a freaking melt down.
You have no idea... The fact that everyone already knows makes it even more heart-wrenching. The first time they asked, she was out of town (surprise). I had my editor check it before I sent it and I made sure that it wasn't overly showing that I do her work. She sent me an email afterwards stating that she was upset I sent it in when she was out of town. I had waited until the last possible moment before it was due. She was gone for over a week...what am I supposed to do? She told me she would have taken even more out.
When shit that is technically her responsibility comes down through emails 90% of the time I am copied on it. I also approve the rep audits which I am not supposed to do but if I don't do it they won't get paid because she doesn't do it. And if she does, I usually have to go behind her and correct it.

It is fucking annoying.
Its more than fucking annoying, it's downright wrong. They'll figure it out though when you're out the door!
The company I work for does something similar where you take on all the responsibilities of the job title ahead of you for a long time before actually being promoted. But they do at least promote you. Keep your head up and keep the job search strong!
I have to get a new fucking job! UGH. This place I fucking swear. They called my boss to inform her that I worked 15 minutes overtime. FIFTEEN MINUTES! Are you fucking kidding me? That will not even show up on my check, that is not any money at fucking all, it is literally $4.50.. FOUR DOLLARS AND FIFTY FUCKING CENTS. That is ridiculous. Your long distance phone call to tell us that I got overtime cost more than that.
I got an idea...You don't want me to get $4.50 in fucking overtime, then put me back on fucking salary. You know like the way it was before the Federal government changed it and then the judge ruled against it making it possible for me to be fucking salary again. You know like you can fucking do if you don't want people getting even a second over their 40 hours a week. I fucking am livid right now.
EDIT: Oh I forget to add the time and half of that overtime... $6.75 my bad. That makes it totes legit.

Last week my main corporate boss told me that his close associate at corporate wants to talk to me about another location. He said something like, "I don't know if it's for GM or what, but that spot just came open." As intriguing as that is I hate the games, because I know these guys work together very closely and one certainly knows what the other wants with me. And then they didn't meet with me and pushed any discussion back a week. Yes, I absolutely want the marginal promotion and change of scenery, if it's on the table, and this uncertainty is killing me right now. If this doesn't happen it's time to start circulating resumes again.
My supervisor has been back from vacation for a week and a half. So far, he has left early on at least three days, come in an hour later than normal on one day, and called in sick today.
And in the three weeks since then, he's been out sick another day, "worked from home" three more days, come in "super late" (i.e., at like 11:00) on one day.
Meanwhile, I asked to leave two hours early one day, and he said that was fine, but I had to make sure and make up those two hours.

Either way that's crap, but are you an exempt employee?

Yes, and I'm salaried, so I wouldn't really even be bothered about the whole "make up your hours" thing if it wasn't that it was completely inconsistent with the way he's treated similar situations in the past and with the way he runs his own schedule.

Yeah that's total crap then. So basically he's asking you to be an exempt employee when it benefits him (yay free OT), but not when it benefits you. Our workplace only makes exempt employees record time off if you're not working AT ALL in a given day, and there's no such thing as makeup time. It's not like you earn comp time when you're working above and beyond your schedule, so.... I'd just smile and be like "sure" and never do it lol.

That was my original plan, but instead, I somehow actually ended up coming in early more days than I needed to last week to make up the time. And he never even asked me about it again, so I suspect he did not really believe I was going to make up the time (or care) anyway, and that he was just trying to cover himself so that he could say he told me to make it up if it ever came up.
