Working while pregnant is a whole new type of hell. My brain seriously just does not give a FFFFF about work anymore. 3 more months (to the day!) until maternity leave.
This meeting is killing me. Someone come shoot me.
Wanna trade? My Food Service Manager keeps coming in and annoying me about the weekend and it being my first shifts as supervisor. I've worked here 14 years. I know what these little asshats are supposed to do and I know what they're going to try to pull.

Mine is just a function of people not being able to take responsibility for their part in things. If everyone else can keep pace with the process as is and you cannot, you really have to look at what you are doing that causes you to not be able to keep up rather than constantly complaining about the process. The end result of that portion of the meeting was a tweak happening to work flow which on the surface looks like a time saver for us but in the end will be a time loss and a huge pain in the ass for us.

This sentiment seems to be doubling each week. UGH.

1. Yousa strong woman, CKS. 2. I know this is probably old news since I've been MIA but your avatar gives me life.
Also, for the sake of thread relevancy, I'm currently feeling like I could benefit from being my own boss. Since I do their job anyway. Jus' sayin'.

I have planned all week to talk to my boss after lunch today about me working a day a week from home. The vast majority of my work can be done from my laptop, and it's a 30-mile commute one way.
During my lunch, I was told I need to cover for the guy who manages our consignment store (I work at the main furniture store next door). Can't leave until closing time because I am the only one around, and it's unlikely the guy that I need to talk to will be around at that time. It's not the end of the world if it waits until Monday, but I really didn't want have to think about it over the weekend. Just been a long day all around...was asked to sit in on a meeting first thing this morning that last 90 mins, in which there was no need for me to be present.

Followed through with that this morning, did not hear what I was hoping for. More or less, it was "let's wait and see" in a nice way. Going to avoid the nasty rant, but...you shouldn't bring that kind of thing up before you hire somebody and not be able to make it happen.

This type of message prob don't belong in this thread, but since I have been talking about it here...
Boss randomly emailed me today and said I could work from home on Fridays starting next week. Not sure what caused the change of heart, but I am pretty damn happy about it.

Congratulations. Working from home is awesome.
About 4 years ago my wife and I moved away for her job, but somehow I convinced my boss that I could work from home a couple days a week and commute 2.5 hours to the office and spend then night with my parents for a couple days. It started as me having to come in every week; I'm now going in once a month if I'm not traveling elsewhere for work and has worked out well. I do have to force myself to go to the gym 3 days a week just to get out of the house, but otherwise it's great. I also get to spend all day catching up on a lot of music, so it's a win-win right now.

I love how someone who left me a voicemail message on Friday calls again today to say he's been trying to get a hold of me "for weeks" because I hadn't called him back due to submitting TWO grants last minute today.
Professors are obnoxious sometimes. And apparently they are also bad with time.
At least one of my students got word today that he was funded for his pre-doctoral fellowship we worked on recently

Well, I found my rock bottom for professionalism today.
Had three good weeks as supervisor and then my Food Service Manager reminded me how much I can't stand him. Got called out by my director for being disrespectful towards FSM.
So... yeah feel great. Gonna look for a new job because I don't think I'm going to be able to work this out. My dislike for him has been growing for 14 years. I don't see a way around it/don't really want to see a way around it.

If I have to hear one more time about how my co-worker can't keep up with his assigned work (which is less than me) because of how thorough (read: awesome/better than us) he is, I am gonna lose my shit.

On another note, what do you all feel like is an acceptable dress/skirt length for a standard office worker? I'm currently jealous because an admin was rocking a mid thigh dress today, but I can't wear shorts when I'm doing field work in July.
Getting back into fly season at work, and this year we got a cockroach problem too. Apparently it's bad enough with the cockroaches that they need to do spraying on Saturday night.

Do you still work for the company that begins with an A and ends with a zon?

I almost don't want to say anything to anyone because I'm superstitious and afraid I'll jinx it, but I'm also really excited, so I kind of want to tell everyone I know. I've got an interview with a court in Macon, GA next week.
