I've started asking the new part-timers a very simple, yet telling question: "Do you do your own laundry?" If they say yes, they will more than likely be a good employee. If they say no, I give up on them almost immediately.
There are a startling amount of 18 year olds that do not even know how to do their own laundry.

my first roommate in college didnt know how to wash dishes. He once put half a pan of lasagana in the dishwasher.

I made Kyle start doing his laundry at 4 yrs old after the second time he ruined all my clothes with pens/markers in his pockets. It started with me supervising him emptying pockets and making piles, and then turned into me starting the wash and him loading it, to him doing his own laundry completely by 6.

Once again, Kyle was doing the dishes as his chore starting at 11 yrs old. He fucking hates doing dishes but damn he does a great job.
Moral of the story... Teach your kids to do fucking chores.
Dishes are my chore of choice, I absolutely hate doing laundry, especially ironing. I've got to look somewhat presentable at work so I bring my clothes to the dry cleaner to be laundered and pressed about once a month. It's 40 bucks, but well well worth it IMHO.
Dishes I always let soak over night, and scrub then put in the dishwasher. The GF hates my process of sinks full of water, but you could literally eat of the dishes I clean.

With Kyle gone to college, I am now in charge of the dishes. I had forgotten how much I hate doing them. thejeremy has done dishes twice since Kyle has been gone. TWICE. But I don't complain because he cuts the grass and does a WAY better job than Kyle ever did.
I refuse to pay for dry cleaning unless it is a ball gown or something like that, but I also don't buy dry clean only clothing and even though I dress "nice" for work, I am still pretty casual.
Right after I started my first “real job,” they went to dual monitors in my office. At the time, I was kind of thinking that I couldn’t imagine why I would ever need two monitors. I pretty much immediately realized much better two monitors are than one, and at this point (11 years and 2 jobs later), I would probably get fired if they tried to make me work with one monitor because I wouldn’t be able to get anything done.
Also, I think I started doing my own laundry in college, but I’m really not sure how I learned. I think I just figured it out. I definitely don’t remember my mom teaching me anything like that.

Walked out on our Food Service Manager and straight to the assistant administrator’s office to file a harassment complaint.
I’ll be glad if I still have a job tomorrow but if I don’t I’ll also be ok. Enough people saw me walk out and have since told me they have my back to make me feel okay but I know how big I just made the target on my back. This man will retaliate. He will try to get me to blow up. He will continue to do things when no one else is around.

I filed a formal harassment complaint. A few people have said they would write statements without me asking.
Showed up today and the guy was trying to play nice with me.
We don't have a lobby, you walk up stairs and SURPRISE, you are at my desk. My boss is super Jewish, and she buys a christmas tree EVERY YEAR. Guess who gets to decorate it and take down the decorations? I will give you a hint, not my boss. It is getting delivered tomorrow...I am thrilled, can you tell?
I have a full size Christmas tree in my (personal) office! I absolutely love it.
At home, I always do my tree in silver and blue because my roommate is Jewish. She doesn't even really care, but I try my best to focus my decorations in blue, silver, snowflakes, etc. to make it as neutral as possible. I hate the blue and silver though. Having this red and gold tree in front of my makes me SO happy.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Follow up: I didn't decorate the beautifully smelling Christmas tree that now lives across from my desk. My awesome editor, Doug did the honors. There is a snap on snapchat for those interested (VieuxCareen).
Did I mention that the company I work for paid to fly everyone from dallas to Chicago for our Christmas party then had Stevie Wonder and The Chainsmokers perform hour and a half plus sets.
Got to work this morning and the fire department was out front. A pipe burst in one area of the building, causing a little flood in one spot of the building.
