Got to work this morning and the fire department was out front. A pipe burst in one area of the building, causing a little flood in one spot of the building.
My office is super dead this week because we get off Monday and Tuesday of this week and next week. If you take leave from Wednesday through Friday this week, you end up with eleven days off total. That's a hard deal for people to pass up, but some people do need to be in the office.

I am taking off next year. This week is so boring. NOBODY is working.

The area I work in was unaffected. We were allowed in at 6:30 or so
They stuck us in the lobby of the office area while waiting, cause it was 9 degrees outside
I work for a small regional restaurant with a handful of locations. My store is closing for the entirety of next week, for a renovation. Management told full time employees that they would be able to pick up hours at one of our other locations that week, so no need to worry about the lack of a paycheck. I personally just took the week off, thankfully I don't rely on this job to pay my bills.
Today, people get their schedules for next week and the people promised hours got around 9-12hrs, when they normally work 40. My entire store is ready to revolt. One of my co-workers is going to not be able to make rent, another won't have enough money to pay his child support this month, they're pissed. I don't know what to do, or what to say. I'm the most senior staff member at the store other than the manager, but I have no control over this and feel it's reallllllllllllly shady. Shouldn't the company be obligated to pay people for the week, as they're the ones forcing their employees to not be able to work? I'm just super frustrated.
Our office switched from the West Region to the East Region at some point last year. Since the change, with not notice or procedures sent to us, we have been noticing small difference (and annoyances). I notice in November that the fax machine was acting weird but we don't have technical support included in our service agreement, so I kept letting it go. Yesterday I noticed that the Pitney Bowes was saying there is no dial tone and today the fax said the same. I called the fax number and it is disconnected.
So now they are trying to figure out why we don't have a dial tone and some of our other offices can't actually reach us on the landlines. What a great place to work!

Last night at my overnight gas station job I was robbed at gun point. So that’s a thing.
Oh shit. I am so sorry. I had a shotgun put to the back of my head once while bartending and I am not the same person. If you need someone to talk to, I am a sympathetic, understand ear to sound off to. Seriously.

God I am so sorry. No one should ever have to go through that. One our stores just got robbed at gunpoint. Waiting for when I get a gun in my back for Oxy. Hope I keep it together.

I have a public/shared workspace now, and my friend and coworker has stayed home since Thursday because she is sick and most likely has the flu. Awesome! Having a little baby at home I definitely appreciate this a lot.
But one of our scientists just came down here coughing and sneezing (all uncovered) in our shared area, used our water cooler and sink, and THEN proclaimed she's going to stay far away from us to not get us sick.

Stabbing her in the neck to MAKE her stop breathing would be too far. I would, sarcastically state, "You could stop breathing and/or go away so you will stop spreading your dirty, filthy, nasty flu germs and giving it to all of us, would be nice." is NOT too far.
Thanks you guys for all your support of me. I’m still not in best place and I have to go back to work tonight. I’ve talked to an investigator and they are working their asses off to find this guy. I’ve also gotten kudos from the police department for handling the situation the best way I could.
