Our interior renovations are starting next Monday. They're trying to say how not awful it's going to be, but everyone knows it is going to be awful.
Every time that Lois talks about getting new carpet in the office I cringe. We would have to shutdown for at least 3 days. Plus, being in the French Quarter there is no parking anywhere so they would end up blocking the street downstairs also. I hope that I don't work here anymore if they ever get around to that clusterfuck idea.

Ours is a total revamp of the cubicle spaces as we leased less of the building when we renewed it. They are building an interior wall to create a second leased space in the building and building in several new offices. They are repainting everything except the file storage. They are disassembling all the cubicles and reassembling them smaller and replacing carpet. As of this week, we are losing our conference rooms for a month and a half. After that, everyone on one side of the building will move to the other. Then, everyone moves back to the finished side then half of the office goes to their permanent spot in the second finished half. As you might imagine, we don't technically have the room to fit the entire office in half the building, so several people are going to be working remotely either for long stretches or a few weeks here and there. All told, they are supposed to finish in March which basically no one thinks will be a mark they'll hit.

That sounds miserable and very similar to what would have to happen here to get the carpet replaced. Lots of breaking down, moving and rebuilding cubicles. We are in a renovated apartment technically (the hotel next door used it as a spa for a hot minute) and the carpet is white and fucking disgusting. As nice as it would be to have new dark carpet, the people that redo the carpets do not rearrange, so we the employees would have to do that bullshit.
I am sure that they will not hit deadline. You have construction happening, they never hit deadlines.

Working only 4hr days sounds great in theory and my wrist mostly appreciates it, since everything is so much harder (hey-ho) to do left-handed; but you never finish anything. I am so fucking far behind and freaking out since the Silver Plume award ceremony is in 3 weeks. There are several publications going to print and I am scared that everything is going to fall apart. At work I am stressed trying to get everything done, and at home I can just think about what needs to be done. FUCK.

My friend/co-worker's birthday is Saturday, and our other co-worker who does birthday things is on vacation, so I'm tasked with the annoying job of over-decorating the office tonight after she leaves... She's been gone for over two hours at an event, so I'm just waiting for her to come back and leave so I can do this. I just want to go hooooome.
