Oh no. When do you find out if you're getting offered or not?
Monday, April 16. On my 5 year work anniversary. Maybe my present will be I still have a job.
Wow. So basically you come in Monday and find out if you are getting to work or heading directly back home to put in resumes? What a shitty way to do things.

I just found out that the sales team got severance packages sent to them. So I might be safe for now, but with a different outsourced team, this magazine is going down. One of my friends is a lawyer and they just so happen to need a graphic designer, so fingers crossed they can give me the same that I make here and I won't miss any work.

That would be nice especially as I feel like that has a good likelihood of being a less stressful job.

And my girl would be my boss, so I wouldn't get yelled at or cursed at. Just found out that 4 of my rollerboos are all working at the law firm I applied to. Please god, let the money be right.

I would take it if the money is close. Worth it not to be yelled at. Good luck.

Well, I wouldn't be yelled at anymore. All publishers have been terminated company wide. My boss' last day is Friday, supposedly she will not be offered a position with the new company. The other two sales associates are terminated as of now, but might get offered jobs with the new company. Nobody knows what will happen honestly. They could not offer jobs to any of the sales team, come in Monday and closedown the whole office. Or come in Monday and let me go, change my job, or have me train a replacement.
I really need to make what I am making now, if it is less I can't take the job. I am barely making ends meet now.
EDIT: Just got this email:
Good Afternoon Circulation Managers,
I know the news this morning came as a surprise to you and you are wondering how it affects you and your job. More details will be disclosed during an upcoming call I will have with you (time/date TBD). What I can tell you is that, instead of reporting to your publisher, you will now report directly to me.
Please bear with us during this transition.
As always, thank for your understanding.
EDIT: The publisher, who is now no longer my boss, did get offered a position making more money, so she is now not retiring. The two sales members got offers also.
They’re transferring one of my coworkers instead of firing her, after she said she hoped a customer choked on their food... to the customer.
Wtf
Does she know someone? That's the only reason I can see this happening.
No! That's the strangest part. One of our owners wants her fired, but our regional manager (a close friend of mine) fought to give her a second chance. We maintain our friendship by not talking about work, so I don't want to delve too deep into her reasons, but jeeeebus

Huh. Maybe the girl has something going on that your friend knows about. At least I hope that's the case and I hope it's real good because damn, it'd have be something real major for me to do that after something like that is said.
Hope she learned that we wish bad things on customers behind their backs and out of earshot. Like in the walk-in. The walk-in knows all.

The woman wrote a long scathing review on our facebook page, as well.
Our walk-in isn't nearly as soundproof as most I've encountered. My guy who puts away the truck order always raps really loud to himself when he's in the walk-in, and doesn't realize that we can hear him.

Damn. Where do you guys go to scream into the abyss?
My supervisor, who constantly flips out on everyone and everything, is retiring at the end of the month.
I can't wait for her to go, so sick of her bullshit, the micromanaging and nitpicking, all the unnecessary stress.
My (used to be but isn't anymore) boss is the same way. She will go off and yell at you for other shit and then, not apologize, explain that she is not yelling at you but at the situation. Before the sales team was acquired by an outsourcing company she was going to retire in August. Since my company refused to allow her to retire until August, her new company is completely unaware that was her plan and offered her a position. The last few weeks have been MISERABLE. How do you draw a line with someone that used to be your boss, uses you as a grunt and is a complete bitch to you? Everyday I hope this is the day they realize she is crazy and fire her, or she can't take it anymore and quits. Everyday i hope that she is not crazy and yells at me or tells me to do something and I have to stand up to her just to get yelled at again.
I have been slowly making progress with drawing the line and hope for an eventual non-flip out, stress-free environment.
TL;DR: I am jealous your flip-out queen of a supervisor is retiring and wish that mine would as well.

Hopefully things get better for you soon. That's a weird situation.
My supervisor started at the company in 1969. I'm sorry for everyone that's had to deal with her for decades. People feel sorry for me as I've been getting the brunt of her wrath for the last 10 months.

Work should not be a place where you feel the brunt of someone's wrath. Luckily you have one month left. I am happy (and jealous) for you.
It the second Friday of JazzFest. The city is super packed but only the tourism/hospitality industry is working. The book goes to print next week. I have nothing pressing to do. I don't want to be here.

Good news: my supervisor is still retiring at the end of the month.
Bad news: It doesn't matter anyway because I got traded into another department. Doing something way different than what I was before. And I'm not sure if I can go back, or if this is a temporary move.
They say it's temporary, but I have a hard time believing it.
After what I can describe as a very tiring process, I've received a transfer. I will finally get to leave the store that has made me feel SO unhappy for two years, in less than two weeks. It was topped off with my manager screaming at me, "I don't want you here." I smiled, said "Thank You," and walked away. It's the best thing to happen to me this month (yet). Feeling free... Is wonderful.

Apparently, someone in the office came in over the weekend. They also brought their dog. We know this because there is a pile of dog shit in the floor. This ought to be a fun email that goes out later.
there's no way I was this dumb when I was a new hire, there's no way I was this dumb when I was a new hire, there's no way......I was probably dumberer
I hate this place. I hate the changes. I hate that my used-to-be-but-is-not-my-boss-now refuses to remember that she is not my boss and refers to me as her assistant to her clients and others and still bosses me around and gives me orders. I hate that she treats me like shit and when I tell her new procedures or that stuff no longer fall under my umbrella, she yells at me like I am a wrong-doing child. I hate that she doesn't know how to do her job and calls me in her office or just yells my name across the office to teach her how to do her job at least 5 times a day (today it was 15 times in the span of an hour). I hate when she complains about procedures and how she never had to do this before, which is all because she always made me do her job for her. I hate the most, that she will never change and until I find a new job and quit she will treat me like shit and like her assistant and will never fucking respect me regardless of all the shit I do.

I have hit a wall energy wise because I stayed up too late last night. One of my coworkers is really getting on my nerves. Time to put on headphones and keep to myself until time to leave.

You know what really helps me focus and get shit done? The people in the office next to mine having a super loud conversation for 40 minutes at nine in the morning! Really starts my day off on the best possible foot!

My office is in the middle of an exterior renovation project. They've been working on the windows on my part of the building for weeks now. This morning, they have literally been banging on my window for the last twenty minutes (and other windows nearby for like two hours).

Renovations suck. We've been doing interior renovations for a while, of which consisted of replacing all the carpet. One night we had to pack up all our office into a box and put it on wheels so they could replace our carpet. The guys doing the work didnt get around to it that night.
It wouldnt have pissed me off if the office manager (who's one of the biggest a holes I've ever met) was laughing at us and saying "guess you'll just have to pack your office up again tonight".
