I feel that. For the first two hours of this morning, I couldn’t sign on to my virtual desktop, which always freaks me out because I’m sure it’s somehow something I’ve done (it wasn’t). And the maintenance guy had to come replace our garbage disposal. And then I spilled an entire water bottle all over and around my nightstand, which happens to have a bunch of random cords because it’s where I charge my phone and my sleepy time headphones, and my ambient noise machine is also plugged in there.
Oh nooooo. I hope all your electronics are still okay. And that you get to go home soon
Thanks! I think I got them all out of the way in time. And thankfully, I’m still working from home these days, so at least I’ve got that going for me! I hope your Monday has gotten a little less Monday-y. 💜

Also working from home so I took a nap to finish the day strong. Really killing it over here today lol

Does this weird pandemic/end-of-the-world while working-from-home situation mess with anyone else's enthusiasm for work? Some days I'm doing great and get tons done, and then other days I don't even want to open my email and will do everything to avoid it.
Hoping in one week to get a bit of a morale boost...

Very relatable. I feel like the highs and lows of my productivity are hitting new extremes all the time. I either bang out tons of stuff or just enough to avoid being noticed for not doing much. There is no in between.

Exactly! No in between at all. I wonder what that is?

I read an article about how overall, productivity is lower with people working from home. So I think it's common.

Gotta love taking on half of a workload from someone who retired during a pandemic and getting zero grace about it. Really wish I didn't need my job right now, I would tell them right where to kiss it.
Tomorrow is the last day to ask for an accommodation to teach from home next semester. There are so many pros and cons for both, I am still undecided a day before. 😭 There is so little flexibility and so many more expectations this school year, it’s pretty fucking exhausting. If you know a teacher, check on them. 😂😂😂
We’re still two weeks from thanksgiving, and customers are already getting so mean and cranky. I normally really enjoy working the holidays, but holy fuck! I just want to curl up with a blanket and sleep until March.
I doesn’t help that I’m working 6 days a week every week until New Years thanks to covid.

We're hiring a new person right now. The resumes and cover letters of all qualifying applicants came in this afternoon. Some of the formatting choices of these things make my heart hurt.

LOL maybe they've had too much time to go all out with the editing during quarantine.

I was reading through some of my emails from a year ago and I was shocked at how different they are compared to now. I was so professional and enthusiastic about everything! Really struggling to give a crap these days. I have a zoom in 30 minutes that I need to prepare for, but haven't yet. Pandemic-induced work apathy is a real beeotch, especially because I am grateful to still have my job, but it's hard to work up any sort of pep right now.

Another section at work recently hired someone who uses they/them pronouns. It appears there is no official policy or guidance related to this in the organization. Does anyone know any good resources to educate for pronouns in the workplace? My group will interact with the new employee on a regular basis. None of my people are going to be dicks about it regardless of personal opinion, but I can see some of them accidentally putting their foot in their mouth because they have zero previous exposure to this aside from seeing it on TV.

not a super big deal, but i'm finding myself getting a little annoyed of people who use a fake office background during their zoom calls. like if you are going to use a fake background at least do something fun. but preferably just be brave and don't use a fake background.

Or atleast invest in a green screen so it doesnt look all shitty.

I didn't realize people did that.
A lot of people put tropical backgrounds. More common once all of the different apps added it, is the ability to blur your background. My personal favorite, one of my co-workers took a picture from her desk so her background is set to look like she’s at her desk in the office.

We've started using Teams pretty much exclusively. It allows you to upload your own image. It's the only way to fly if you're going to do that. I have a picture from around Knoxville that I use, but for the most part, people just see my bedroom. There's nothing wild that should offend anybody, so I don't see the point in doing a background.

I have a coworker that moved to Chicago and became fully remote before the pandemic. She doesn't use a background often, but she sometimes uses a picture of her old office on campus. It always cracks me up because it has been like 2-3 years since she has been there.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Working my job plus half of another job for the entire pandemic without any recognition of how much that sucks has been a fucking BLAST, y'all. I feel like I'm constantly playing catchup and now I'm getting shitty emails for it from people who I used to have good working relationships with.
Why is everyone acting like life is 100% normal right now? Why is hating your job such a universal experience, yet we have to pretend it's something we don't hate doing? UGH.
Really wishing I was independently wealthy more and more every day.
My manager started a 6 week leave of absence this week - leaving me in charge, and this first week could not have gone worse! 8 absences, multiple crucial products going out of stock, an important regional walk being failed, countless terrible customers, and an insane amount of overtime! And to top it all off, the bf is in one of his mood swings and hasn’t talked to me all weekend! These next 5 weeks better not bring more of this!

Fingers crossed that all of the BS got out of the way early and the next 5 weeks are smoother <3
I am now starting to set up my online business. I spend all my free time to do everything well. Sometimes I feel like I'm losing my mind. Because I don't have enough time to relax. Right now I'm searching for quality sms marketing for my service.
I interview for team leader tomorrow, and I’m hella stressed right now! I’m really struggling to create a swot analysis for my department, and my interview tomorrow will be with a panel of 7 or 8 people!

Which acronym is swot? I can't remember. General interview advice is to keep it simple and answer the questions they ask. Drives people crazy when you don't tangent and address something else. Also, be yourself.
That's a big panel. Try to acknowledge everyone but keep focus on whoever asked the question.
