I interview for team leader tomorrow, and I’m hella stressed right now! I’m really struggling to create a swot analysis for my department, and my interview tomorrow will be with a panel of 7 or 8 people!
Which acronym is swot? I can't remember. General interview advice is to keep it simple and answer the questions they ask. Drives people crazy when you don't tangent and address something else. Also, be yourself.
That's a big panel. Try to acknowledge everyone but keep focus on whoever asked the question.
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats.
Thankfully the panel is all people I work with on a daily basis, but a 7 person zoom interview isn't the easiest way to get my personality across.

Yeah. I know that one. There's so damn many.
That many people on Zoom sounds awful. Remember to check your mic and camera first. Nothing more embarrassing than one of them suddenly deciding not to work.
This is oft-trodden territory but sometimes I am completely astounded by how some people got into the positions they're in. Our company's social media specialist was flown in from Chicago today to get video of our store and interview my boss, and I brought in a $40 iPhone mic on a bendy tabletop tripod I got in the checkout lane in HomeGoods, and this lady was impressed. Then when making the promo video she kept having me do things better suited for a still shot, such as giving a thumbs-up and pointing at things. Being on camera in general is not my strong suit and without decent guidance on what to do, I'm pretty sure this video's going to be awful.
Then in the press release she claimed we were the first dispensary in east Philadelphia, and "east Philadelphia" isn't even a thing. Literally no one says that...and we're not even on the eastern side of Philly, we're in center city. Not to mention that there are already two other dispensaries within five blocks. And there's a typo on our Facebook post.
On the plus side, it should hopefully be very easy to demonstrate my value and move up in the company.

Just got done with a meeting that has made me irrationally angry. Like I know I’ll calm down and be like “oh yeah this new thing they’re making us do is total bullshit but whatever gotta do it.” While also having my hatred of my department being solidified even harder.
Also my work computer doesn’t have the program I need to do the new thing and I’m pretty sure it’s just going to explode if IT tries to install it.

My work is having an employee appreciation lunch today. It’s a two hour “come as your schedule permits” kind of thing. I feel like I should go, but the idea of getting dressed in work appropriate clothes, driving downtown, and making small talk is really stressing me out.

I'd make a quick cameo and then race back home lol. Good luck! Also, maybe your schedule doesn't permit an employee appreciation lunch today

I survived. It wasn't fun, but I did get to meet a coworker I had not had a chance to meet yet, so that was good.

I got offered and accepted a job today, for the direct competitor of the company I've been working with for 7 years. It's in stage production for college parties. Better pay and a much more professional group, plus I actually have opportunities to advance in the heirarchy. I've gotta figure out how to break the news to my old boss, right before the busy season. Driving home from the interview I had to pull over to dry heave; the boss came to my wedding (he wrote the gift on a company check lmao) and has always been cool to me. He just never gave me a real pay raise, I made the exact same amount per show in 2015 as I did in 2021. Should I call, email, or text?

Call for sure. And sucks about them paying you the same for several years; the “disloyalty bonus” is very real.

When I got offered a new job and had to tell my current job, I gave them the opportunity to price match to keep me on. I would definitely, if that's an option for you, keep that in mind when you do talk to your boss. Maybe they'll be willing to pay as much as the competitor to keep you.

Absolutely call. And do like Vieux says and give them them opportunity to match. He probably can't do it, but that way you leave with a clear conscience knowing you did all you could.
Eh, there's a lot of reasons I'm ready to leave the other company, a simple match in pay wouldn't be enough
I knew my job at the time wouldn't match my new pay but it cleared my conscious and made me feel better leaving 3 days before one of the books were supposed to go to print (and with only a 3 day notice).
I went in to the office today to make a call and send a fax. Took over an hour because I could not remember how to send a fax. Several calls to my manager later, she was able to send the fax for me,,..l from her house
I work in the shipping department of the company. Sent an electral panel to Connecticut earlier this week. I offered to drive it to the buyer, but the higher ups said no.
It ended up destroyed when it arrived in Connecticut.
That's disappointing. Looks like it got ran over by a forklift at the truck terminal. I knew not to trust an LTL on this one...
