I feel better today but I still have a little bit of chest congestion. My son's albuterol inhaler helped and working out a little broke it up some too. Hoping not to be sick for the weekend!

Not to minimize those who are sick but I think BonnaFlu is an urban legend so to speak: ie; How many people in a "city" of 90K ? (who coincidentally are not sleeping normally and letting loose a whole lot for a week) get a summer cold or just not feeling well? Me thinks a lot .... cr****
No alcohol for me (honest). Anywho, I know what's going on my shopping list next year; Emergen-C. Lots of it.
My wife and I each downed an Emegen-C every morning. Not saying that's the sole cause, but neither of us have the Bonnaflu.
THIS is my plan for next year. I've had croup-like hacking and nasal congestion for 4.5 days now and cannot breathe if I lay flat. My achiness is gone though. My nephew who was there too, though I didn't see him all weekend, and he has the same symptoms. Neither of us drink/party and sleep was fairly normal. I think it is from the close contact with tens of thousands of others under less than ideal sanitary conditions. I'll def be back, but will be dosing Emergen-C or Airborne next year

Welp, I now have stabbing pains in my right side that just won't quit. I'm guessing I coughed myself into a hernia, or else this is some next-level celiac shizz I've never experienced before. Went to the doc, all labs look good so far and I JUST had an abdominal ultrasound so at least I can be fairly sure its nothing super scary... back for more tests on Monday. I think this is my body's way of talking me into an RV next year...
I get that when I cough too much. Inflamed cartilage in my rib cage. Ibuprofen and ice knocks it right out.
Thought I'd escaped Bonnaflu this year, but last night a sore throat came on, and now I've got the full suite package (sore throat, congestion, headaches). Ah well. Small price to pay for Bonnaroo. I just think of it as my body gently chiding me for my decision making during Roo.

Pleurisy! I thought that was something you have to go to the 1920s to get... Thanks for the tip, it really does feel like something's torn/pulled/bruised in there. Its just been goin on so damn long!

Nope apparently you just have to cough super hard or long. Haha. It sucked really bad, and there's really nothing they can do for it aside from wait it out (and try not to cough so hard).
I didn't get sick at all last year, but just yesterday I had a fever of around 102 all day. Today, I am congested and have a cough, but feel fine other than that. As others have said, still worth it.

This was our first and neither of us are spring chickens.....hubby started feeling poorly on the ride back to Louisville on monday morning. Tuesday it was on full force..He has a head cold and chest cold with a terrible deep cough which unfortunately gets much worse at night! he has had chills off and on. I started with what i thought was and allergy attack right after playing infield in a softball game last night now today i fear i have caught what he as b/c now i have a nagging scratchy throat.....Hubby is wondering how long this will last. I have a Z-pack but he doesn't want to take it just yet....I figure it was a combination of heat, dust, smoke of various origins, lack of sleep, and refugee accommodations....HA....But all in all i would do it all again.....A side note this has been one of the worst seasons i can remember for my respiratory system....my allergies seems to flare only to morph into something way worse.
I felt like I had an ear and throat infection but megadosed vitamin D and now I feel pretty much okay, but I still have a cough. My chest was really starting to hurt.
Another year...another bonnaflu. Been sick since early Tuesday. Just all stuffed up. Coughing has started over the last day or so. It's weird though, I don't feel terrible. I've still been going about daily life. I think my body just wants me to remember another awesome year at Bonnaroo. haha

The Bonnaflu is real. I go to the Derby every year, I go to Indy 500, Bonnaroo, NCAA championship, etc, etc, etc. I go to lots of events where people aren't sleeping, are eating poorly, and are packed in like sardines, but the only time I get sick is after Bonnaroo. And it's always a sinus infection. So... yeah, I have to believe there is something specific about this large group of people that causes sinus infections, most likely something about the environment.

There might be something to it I guess. I look at your examples though and think: A bit older crowd, not as much drugs (maybe more drinking), hotel rooms, air conditioning, hummmmm. The life of luxury haha ... cr****

Still got the Bonnaflu here. Major sinus infection, coughing like mad, sneezing. Wife megadosed on OTC allergy meds this year before we went in and she didn't get it so I'm going to give that a try next year.
I hope you guys start feeling better. I didn't attend Roo this year so no Bonnaflu for me. I attended every year from 2007 until 2011 and I got a bad case of Bonnaflu every year. 2011 was the worst. I was sick for 2 months after Roo that year and ended up getting pneumonia. In 2010 I got bronchitis and it wouldn't go away until I got an inhaler and antibiotics. In 2007, it was the cough that killed me as I kept coughing up dust for 2 weeks after the fest.
I don't do drugs, I don't drink and I bring my own healthy foods. I usually get pretty good sleep, even when I was camped right behind Other Tent. I always use antibacterial wipes when I use the portos. I have no idea why I got sick every single year. Maybe it's something in the water? It sucks to skip Roo this year but I'm so glad that I don't have to deal with Bonnaflu.

Mine started Tuesday evening with a sore throat and mild wheezing. 24 hours later brought on bronchitis, sinusitis, upper respiratory infection, and a sinus infection. GOOD TIMES! I'm not gonna blame Bonnaroo though. I have a pitiful immune system and anytime I rage for more than a day or two without much sleep I pay for it for the next week. I have slept 24 out of the past 48 hours. I have only been awake long enough to work. I finally feel well enough to eat some food and take more than 10 steps without keeling over. I may even be well enough for a vodka shot!

I get it every year. This year I started feeling it while on the farm. In the past i would feel it soon after I got home. It started on Saturday morning and still thinks were friends.
I for sure have it. Last year I had it for weeks. Saturday I had a terrible migraine. May have been the start of something. Monday is when I started feeling the sore throat. Had a sore throat for a couple of days and now it's this god awful cough and sinus thing. I can't smell anything and my ears are plugged up. I'm sneezing non stop. I also flew in so, that may have contributed some to it. Funny I even picked up some emergen-c to drink everyday on the farm and of course I didn't.
Last week was one of the worst weeks of my life. I felt a cold coming before I left for Roo, so I went to the doctor and got some nasal steriods and anti-biotics. I partied through it during the festival, but I had much less energy than usual. Once I got home and the buzz wore off...holy sh*t. I'm doing much better today.

I'm still sick. This sucks.
Me toooooo.
Whatever I have, I passed onto my mom. Whoops. I'm going to use a neti pot for the first time tonight. Hopefully that clears out my sinuses a little bit.

That's crazy. I am wondering if it is just the portapotties that spread the infection, but then why does everyone seem to be getting bronchitis or respiratory ailments? This is really interesting, I wish someone in the health field would look into this.
So I got some advice from a friend of mine who is a physicians assistant. Anyone who feels like they have a sinus infection: she recommended to me taking Claritin in the morning and Benadryl at night. Also, and I think this is important, don't go running to your doctor for an antibiotic unless your symptoms worsen or you get a fever. Basically she said to give it at least 10 days and see how I feel. You're not doing yourself any favors by taking antibiotics for a viral infection!
I bought some nasal spray last night and that also seemed to help me get through the night a bit easier. Today is the first day where I could breathe through my nose when I woke up. Yay!
