Speaking of young, will Lorde be a flash in the pan or have a long career? Im actually thinking she does okay in the long run. She seems unnaturally sensible for 17. 17!
I think Lorde is here to stay. I'll be a lifelong fan ever since she called David Guetta gross when he reached out to her wanting to collaborate.
Huh, I didn't know that. But yeah, unnaturally sensible. Props to her.
Plus she covered Hold My Liquor and not some dumb Hendrix song like Red House or Machine Gun.

No, but Janelle Monae does. BAM!
(there is a much better version from the Jimmy Fallon show that NBC inexplicably took off the internet. Because they, like most corporations, have mind-numbingly stupid media policies, I assume)

Gonna let the facade drop a little and admit that hearing Janelle Monae cover Hendrix at Bonnaroo would be incredible.

I see Lorde having a career like Fiona Apple.. Her star power will diminish and she'll just show up every now and then with decent material that only her true fans will appreciate while never really drawing in a new batch.. Thats my prediction anyway, who's to really say for sure?

I can definitely see the Fiona Apple comparison. I can see her having a cult status for well into the future.
And I like Hendrix! I still like Kanye better, but Hendrix has tons of good songs. I kicked myself pretty hard when Backdoor Slam busted out Red House in 2008 and I was way in the back. I was raised on Clapton so I came to Hendrix late, hence his non-diety status in my eyes. Still appreciate his music though.
Edit: Actually, Hendrix Sux. I hope Bonnaroo never invites him back.

Hey, everyone is heavy petting themselves over potential guests for this set, but does Kanye really DO that? He'll show up for others, but other than Justin Vernon doing some backing vocals at Coachella, is it really something he does all that often?

Yea, I think there's a lot of artists that could guest for this set and for Jack White but both acts seem less likely to collaborate on stage when compared to previous headliners.
I'd love for Kanye to bring some people out but I guess it depends on the kind of show they are going for. To make a truly epic, unforgettable performance it'd be great to bring out some guests but it could also be a case where Kanye wants the stage all to himself to really blow people away. That was one of my favorite things about the Yeezus show....it wasn't a regular hip hop show with one DJ and five other hype guys. It was Kanye all alone with some DJs and musicians doing their thing off the stage.

Well I know Drake showed up with him on stage at the Yeezus tour and Push a T also at Coachella, John legend back in the day. I don't expect it at all, just thinking out loud really.
I could see Frank making an appearance like Justin did at Coachella and Pusha T also since they will already be there.
Every year there are at least a dozen "expected" collaborations because acts are on the farm together and they don't always work out. I really think it depends on what Kanye wants to do with the show.

I will be happy no matter what he does. Hell he can bring it Paul Wall and do "Drive Slow"!

Read this as Paul Walker for something, and it actually fit.... Paul Walker Hologram confirmed......

Id like to see Pusha for runaway but thats the only one that seems semi-likely to me.
On a related note, I have a sneaking suspicion that all the damon albarn collaboration talk wont pan out. Trying not to get my hopes up for more than 1 or 2 gorillaz songs at his set.

A) drive slow would be incredible.
B) paul wall is probably working at a burger king near manchester anyway, so he shouldnt be too hard to get.
With all due respect, am I the only one offended by this comparison between Kanye and Ali? Ali seems to me to have been a true force of nature. He was a boxing icon, a icon for social justice and the civil rights movement, and an advocate for political change. He received the presidential medal of freedom.
Kanye has a long, long way to go before he can be honestly compared with Muhammed Ali.

Only halfway relevant but I remember the first time I heard So Appalled (good fridays) I had the worst case of scrunch face the whole way through. The stretch from Jay through Pusha is so yeeeuuck. There was a point in time when I could have never imagined those two being on the same track. For some reason I don't go back to that song often.
So, AC saying in the AMA yesterday that they had a Kanye West surprise set in the works made me start considering outlandish shit, since I never would have thought they'd bring out a headliner-tier act for a surprise appearance.
I was listening to "Diamonds of Sierra Leone" and got to pondering...what if he's performing that song, when all of a sudden
I GOT IT FROM HERE YE, DAMN
Jay emmer-effing Z comes out to perform his verse, along with some other songs they've collaborated on. Lord knows there's enough of them. That would be an insanecrazylistic dramatic entrance, and Bonnaroo would collectively lose its shit. Even in just imagining it, my brain can't handle the awesomeness. But if it actually were to happen...WOAH.

Don't get your hopes up.
You have to remember this is Manchester, TN. BFE, middle of nowhere, farm. This isn't Coachella where it's common for someone to be in LA and can make a quick stop by for a surprise appearance. JayZ would likely have to be traveling with Kanye for this to even remotely possibly happen.
