"top of your game" means you act like a professional. Do you get pissed when an actor mails in a performance that you paid money to see at the theater? A professional never takes a night off. A professional reads his audience and plays for them, not to his own over inflated ego. Him comparing himself to hendrix, hughes, or disney is insulting to those men's careers. They changed the status quo in their fields, all he did was play to the stereotypes of what the general public thinks rappers are. No class with this guy, and very disconnected from reality
Do you actually know anything about Howard Hughes or Walt Disney, or do you just traffic in uninformed drivel
It pains me when the next generation watches one movie on Disney or Hughes and thinks they know their story. This is the point to learn about them not from a source called wikapedia. Pick up a book and read about them. Rather than arguing over opinion on taste, I'll just ask simply...what has Kanye done comparable to those he named last night? Defend his setlist, music choice, rant about media all you want..but if you think he is going to be remembered with the names he mentioned, your mistaken.
...and cokes..your profile shows you were born in 1988, which means when you get a job, an education, and a stable view on how the world actual works give me a call.

More smug condescension? You don't need a Ph.D. to realize that that Kanye will never have even a fraction of the effect on the events of human history that any of these individuals did. No one will be talking about Kanye in 40 years, let alone 400.
I'm sorry but if you didn't like that performance then something is wrong with you. We were the pit and everyone was going crazy. Never heard one fuck kanye chant so all those people in the back that thought they were going to yell at him lost because I can say for certain that he couldn't hear it. He went on with one of his normal rants like he always does. This is nothing new and everyone knew he was going to do that. The music was great, he sounded great, and he put a ton of energy on stage. He definitely was on a "anyone who doubted me in 2008 can fuck off because I'm playing in front of 90,000 people and I'm the biggest rock in the world" kick last night. I think it's funny some of you hate kanye and still went to his show to try and banter him and complain about the show afterwards. He had no idea you scrubs were even there. All he saw was everyone going crazy. So keep hating because he is different you small minded rookies. He will continue to put out some of the best music out and put on amazing shows while you sit in field and eat corn dogs dreaming of a 4 hour Futhur set. Also, I think it's crazy John Lennon said The Beatles were more important than Jesus and most of you probably responded to like "I understand what he is saying" but Kanye says that he is the biggest rock star in the world (which he could be, it is debatable) or that he is a god and y'all lose your shit. Millions of records sold, some of the most memorable tours of the past decade, 21 Grammys, and all his albums were critically acclaimed. Shut up and stick to Wakarusa hippies

Yeah, love him or hate him, it's too bad a lot of these inforoo-related FB posts I'm seeing are so hypocrisy-filled with their talk of Kanye not radiating positivity while they curse and spew venom about him and are appalled that he's having children and other real "positively radiating" comments.

He mentioned Disney and Hendrix and Hughes among others as people he emulates and wants to be like. I thought that was understood. He has higher goals than having a top song on the radio as he's already done that. He wants to do bigger things like many big artists do when they reach a certain level (jay-z is similar with his clothing line, purchase of the nets, opening bars and night clubs). Of course Kanye saying that seeing all the people who came to his show was humbling and that he came here to give us an amazing show that we deserve is ignored. The focus is on the negative sounding things.
I had a great time. I was hoping for something a bit more epic but overall it was a good set.

The pit crowd was golden. There was so much energy in there I think my feet were off the ground for half the show. It was really everything I hoped it would be. I had no idea anyone was unhappy with the show until the next day. Yeezy killed it and anyone who cared enough was blown away...Jesus wept.

Ok first let me start out by saying that I'm a big Kanye fan and have been every since 2004. He's been number one for quite awhile on my list of artists that I haven't seen perform so I was really excited about his Bonnaroo set. Being the perfectionist and showman that he is, I felt like he was going to absolutely kill it,but I was kinda let down.
It was really cool finally getting to see him live and I'd definitely go again. I really thought he was going to do something special to win back Bonnaroo, but it was nothing. Basically the same set as the X-Games. No Pusha T, no Big Sean,No Frank Ocean either. I was hoping he'd do something big like bring out Jay-Z so it'd get everyone taking about how he came back to Bonnaroo and absolutely destroyed it (in a good way).
I didn't mind the rant, but I wish he had thrown in some other songs. Through The Wire, Crack Music, Champion, The Glory, Coldest Winter and Devil In A New Dress. He came out ten minutes late and ended twenty minutes early. He also forgot several of his lyrics or just didn't feel like rapping them. I had a good spot near the rail behind pit so I had a fairly good vantage point, but maybe my hopes were too high.
I'd for sure see him again because his arena show will likely be 30 times better. Beforehand, I thought it may dethrone my the best show I've ever seen, but Fleet Foxes at the Ryman still hold that spot!

Also, did anyone get a Yeezus shirt who'd like to trade with me? I bought a large of the grim reaper, but it's kinda small so I'd like to have an XL if anyone would be willing to swap? It hasn't been worn yet...only tried on.

This is exactly how I felt. The pit had so much energy and was a ton of fun. I expected to leave the pit and hear everyone raving about it and I was surprised when I heard the opposite.
I don't know if this happens every time, but it was like the running of the bulls when they let the line for the pit in finally. The security/maintenance guys were frantically trying to repair and tighten zip ties and metal wire around the barricades so the inevitable mad rush of people at the start of the set wouldn't kill us. My friend & I were on the rail, left side of the stage, almost directly beside the first few people in line for the pit. Seeing two or three girls get into it with the rest of that massive line for cutting, the chants of "KICK THEM OUT!" and almost seeing a fist fight before the show even officially started was pretty entertaining. Felt bad for the guys and gals that won the contest that got them into the pit (or something like that, I don't know), as security was questioning them at first I believe.
Oh yeah, and Mr. Naked Man getting into a fight with security immediately after the show ended was a spectacle, too. We also saw Kim leaving through the VIP pit entrance before "Blood on the Leaves".
Show was awesome, as I expected it would be, but the pre and post show happenings were more entertaining in hindsight because of how absurd it was.
I was stage right, right in front of the sound booth and Phoenix came after their set and stood behind me. Also Vampire Weekend, Danny Brown, Damian Marley were on the other side. It was like everyone and their mother wanted to see this show.
It's cool that the pit had a blast. I had high expectations and was really looking forward to this show. From where I was it sounded like shit and I couldn't see a damn thing. Figured the screens would have been utilized differently. Too bad, I'll have to catch him again some other time. I left after a few songs because I didn't want to hate it anymore than already I did. Got a good spot for SJ.

I was just referencing that Kanye still brought up PJ after six years, when they had nothing to do with his late arrival. I guess it depends on what you think by rock star. Rock stars playing for an extended amount of time and changing their set lists night after night to cater to fans, or rock stars with 20 minutes of ranting. Both are rock stars.
So this was easily the best set of the weekend, right?
Not even close, that would be Grouplove.
Grouplove literally turned into an insane rave party. There were four people crowd surfing at a time for an hour straight. These two short, naked gay guys formed a human pyramid to see the stage. The crowd surged forward four times to get closer to the stage. People were jumping up and down and going nuts. My brother got kicked in the head. Some huge rolling guy hugged me five times.
Grouplove was full 45 minutes before they went on, and still people kept coming, trying to get into the tent. Their set was insane! They were bouncing around the stage for an hour straight. They sounded great, they looked great, they put on the best show at Roo, no question.

"Grouplove is for boring people who think having sex with the lights on is kinky"-Vice
Hey now. I was deep in grouplove. They are my favorite band. Imagine that.
Kanye was killer. The mud was horrible and once the crowd pushed forwards you got sucked in and couldn't move. Everyone around me was going hard and having a good time. I did get bored during that whole 15 minutes he talked about the press. Wished he would have used the screens bc we aren't all 6 feet or taller.
For the few people who were yelling Fuck you kayne, they sure knew the lyrics to all his songs..................
