I want the people complaining about the rants to really look at this transcript of one of the rant videos.
This awesome video paints a different picture of the rants. I really don't get how people can hear this and hear the emotion in his voice and just boo/hate on this. I put in bold some of the comments that people are completely ignoring. It was extremely postivie but the focus is on his couple of "angry" sounding parts. Listen to the cheers from this audience.
Kanye West said:
"If you're having a good time make some motherfucking noise! How many people traveled from out of town to get to this motherfucker? How many of ya'll don't give a fuck what the press say?
It's 2014. College Dropout came out 2004. I want y'all to know anytime I go to the studio....anytime I do an interview....anytime I make a motherfucking t-shirt.....everything I do. I give it everything I got. And when I talk that shit, it's so YOU can talk that shit. If you a fan of me you a fan of your motherfucking self. You can do something. You can do something that change the world.
Look at how they try to make me look. They try to make me look crazy. And the people that write that....I don't see them performing for 90,000 motherfuckers. They couldn't even perform for their child.
I know you see movies and shit. Jimi Hendrix. John Lennon. Jim Morrison. I know you seen movies and shit but y'all living the movie RIGHT FUCKING NOW. Because I am the #1 fucking rock star on the planet! And we at Bonnaroo! Last time I got here, before I even arrived they had "Fuck Kanye" on the motherfucking porta potties. But this year, we gonna piss on them. On them motherfucking porta-potties.
Man....drop that shit".
Yea....I really don't see how this is him being an egotistical asshole. This was really pretty positive but people completely ignore that because it's Kanye. He basically let the crowd know that he puts in all his effort and here's here to kick ass for the fans.
How were the Kanye and Jack White rants similar? They seemed very different to me...
Also, I left after an hour because the people around me kept chanting fuck Kanye and booing. Those people should choke to death on a dick for ruining the show for others. The set list was good up through the time i was there (IMO). Only the ranting was bad...but still worth sitting through.
I had fun once I got in though. I found his rants to be hilarious myself. What I enjoyed most was being surrounded by positive people and just having fun. I'm not even a big Kanye fan but I enjoyed the show.
So glad me and CPK went through the huge hassle it took to get into the pit for this show. BY FAR the best of the weekend. Not even close.
I'd imagine hearing boos/heckling would've killed my vibe a bit. Who even does that? I've probably been to thousands of shows in my life and have honestly never boo'd a live act. If you don't like something, just leave... How hard is that?
And the love for Jack White's rants and hate for Kanye's rants is pretty crazy. Hearing people recount and completely misinterpret his rants all weekend long was annoying. This man just can't win with some of you.
I've never seen CKS jump so much at a show until this one. It was awesome sauce. So glad I got to see him with you <3

that pit line was crazy, i was literally off the ground once we were in the barricade. i ran over to the line about halfway through NMH so i was really happy to get in.. i don't know how people were waiting for hours and still weren't able to. it seemed like there was a decent amount of room once we were in.

Can we really just take a moment to appreciate that Kanye called out the media for manipulating him, before them saying he was "boo'd off stage" when it was him that incited the booing? Everyone in the pit boo'd whenever he was talking about Pearl Jam, out of support for him...

Yeah there were definitely a few legitimate "this may just be how I die" moments in that line. Times where my feet were not touching the ground at all and my body was being contorted into new crooked shapes and my lungs were struggling to fill with air because of the compression .
They really need to sort that shit out, it is not safe at all.
Where was that one security guy who usually whips the lines into shape? He's worth his weight in good and we need him back. Badly.
Honestly I may just not be critical enough of a person. Or maybe I just have too much fun for my own good, but, for instance, just being in the pit with my friends rapping and dancing along while he smashed Can't Tell me Nothing would have made my year by itself. Not even close to my favorite Kanye song or anything. Its hard for me to be rational when its fucking Kanye West like 50 feet from me and what not. I remember the rants being too long, but, whatever. He ended up playing more songs that I love than any other act anyways. I guess my standards aren't as high as some of you guys.
Nice meeting you in the pit by the way Lol if you can remember that.
haha I was "awake" at that point. Twas awesome. But then Monie told me we met Cokes , Jaz , and maybe someone else. I was stunned to hear it. No recollection and I probably made an ass of myself. Pretty awfu but the rest of the weekend made up for it.

Token was in the pit too, and caught up with us after. He and I and CKS and a bunch of other people were in line together, but got separated during the thrust. I got the better of it, as I made it almost onto the rail.
lol. I tried talking some sense into the facebook commenters on the Inforoo facebook page but I should just give up.
"I radiated positivity all weekend long. Kanye is a piece of shit, there's no place for him at the farm."
lol
and then this forced me to respond since he clearly doesn't say he's BETTER than these guys but people hear what they want to hear.
When he said he was the true rockstar better then Hendrix, Morrison, and Lennon I walked off. What a big joke and embarrassment lol
Twisting his words just like the press
I saw the posts and I guess 'facepalm' is the best way to put it. I did not like the set, so I left. I didn't boo, I didn't chant, I just made my own way out and realized this wasn't my time for me to see Kanye yet, and that time will come.
Can we just mark these people off as horrible, racist, ignorant, assholes and move on with it and talk about how great the lord and savior was on Friday?

Can we please stop making comments like this? We're talking about music, attitude and delivery of a performance. The vast majority of people on inforoo (including me) and across America actually, could give two shiz's about the color of a performers skin. Would you say the same of a black guy who openly voiced his criticism of Jack White's performance and/or music, a racist, ignorant asshole? No. All people, on all sides of any issue need to move beyond using skin color as a reason to ridicule, judge, demean.

I heard full on legitimate Kanye fans complain about some of the ranting. The ones in my camp complained about his stopping and restarting songs.
I wouldn't say that everyone who complains about the rants as ignorant racists.
All and all, everyone thought the music was good, the show, not so much was the feeling I got. I do know that his rants are common and actually a part of his show. I would think that we shouldn't hate on people just for disliking that aspect.
Better question, do Y'all think he'll ever come back to the farm?

can we talk about how badass the shirts were? I wanted to buy all four immediately but calmed myself down and just got the one with the blue flame thing on it. I love that it looks like a 1980's metal band tour shirt.
