Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Well the show I was supposed to attend friday in Columbus got canceled and will not be rescheduled. Major let down. Now it is imperative that Kanye be at Bonnaroo! It will be my only chance to see him!! And was someone really arguing that Kanye wouldn't be a headliner? Yeezus Christ what is the world coming to. Dude is huge whether you like him or not. I would challenge anyone to watch his full set at Coachella when he headlined and try to tell me that dude isn't a headliner.
Yeezee is canceling shows left and right on this tour, at least away from the coasts. A bunch of Midwestern shows were postponed, postponed then cancelled, or just cancelled. Ok, a bunch is only like four or five - but I checked the Saint Paul show and there was all kinds of seats left.
Could the somewhat lackluster tour sales affect his headliner status? Dunno. I think I'd like to see a Kanye live show; Yeezus (some of the tracks, anyway) changed me from, " eh, Kanye West, who cares about that jerk (never give it a chance)", to a listener. Maybe a live show like the ones that are raved about here will turn me into a fan.
Edit: 500th post and I finally talked about Kanye on Inforoo. (Sign of the Apocalypse #19: Inforoo is offered as a spelling prompt on Swipe after inputting 'info')

He is in a bit of legal trouble with that Paparazzi fight. Maybe uncertainty about how that is gonna go down is leading to the cancellations.I'd love to see him at Bonnaroo, but it may not be a safe bet for them to book him.

I Would Go See Him Myself If He Were Closer. I Think It's The 4 And A Half Hour Drive That I'd Be Dreading By Myself But I'm Still Considering It Lol also Ignore The Capital Letters I'm Not Sure Why My Phone Does That Automatically.

I recently made a five hour drive for a show by myself and I don't regret it one bit, you seem to like Kanye a lot, it'll be worth it.

I'm with these guys, going to a show by yourself is actually freeing. I also am more likely to make friends if I show up by myself. At two different festivals I've gone before my friend could make it (a day and a few hours respectively) and by the time he got there I had a group of friends.
So, I've never listened to Kanye. I've heard about the drama and read all sorts of things on how arrogant he is. I have a tendency to avoid music from people with those kinds of reputations if I hear about the reputation before the music. Seems like he's pretty polarizing. I don't think it would bother me to have him there, though I'm not a rap fan, so I usually avoid those
If he puts on a good show (which, by the looks of the pictures I've seen, he does), I'll probably stop by as long as there's not another conflict. Though if he doesn't show up on time, I'll go find another place to party.

Can I interest you in possibly listening to his music? I'm not trying to come off as a jerk, but I think it's never wise for people to just ignore a complete catalog of music because they think the artist is kind of a d*ck (or a complete d*ck, which is the case with Kanye a lot of times). If you like hip-hop, you're doing yourself a disservice not listening to his music. It's also fascinating to go through the whole thing now and remember that he was constantly criticized for not fitting into the pre-determined hip-hop mold. Each record is a step away from the last, and a step towards the next (without knowing it).

You really should give him a listen, people are always so caught up in "oh Kanye is an arrogant d*ck," but they don't focus on the fact that he is one of the most creative artists of our generation who has changed popular music on three separate occasions.

I'm not against listening to his music, I suppose. Rap/hip-hop isn't at the top of my genre list anyway, so it's been pretty easy to just not seek out his music. I'm willing to give it a try, as long as I can still think he's a jerkstore

Ugh. Lots of musicians are arrogant d'cks, they just manage to stay out of the press. Paul Simon by all accounts eats live children before he performs.

krissyjo - I'd recommend starting from the beginning. Listen to College Dropout and pay attention to his lyrics. Look up his story from around that time.....being the popular producer who wanted to rap and was told he couldn't. That album has so much greatness in it and has a good amount of humor too. I'm not a fan of most of his public antics but am a big fan of his music. It's worth a shot, at least.
Now I need to go home and listen to college dropout.

I agree - Like I said, if I hear the music before the stories, I tend to listen to them. If I hear the stories before the music, it's harder for me to want to pull it up. Not saying that makes sense, but little about me makes sense usually lol

I also recommend you watch his interview with the BBC, I think it'll help you get a better feel of who he is as a person so it can reduce your biases.
College dropout is and will always be my favorite rap album, after that its probably my beautiful dark twisted fantasy. The rest of his albums I probably couldn't decide the order because I love them all.

Yeah - if you can't separate person from music honestly, you'll never be able to listen to anything except John Denver for the rest of your life. I mean, people fuc*king worship John Lennon and he admits to beating women. Yes, Mr. Give Peace A Chance admitted multiple times that he hit women. Kanye is much less offensive to me than many musicians who are idolized by the masses. He just happens to be an outspoken, egotistical black man.

This might help put it into perspective. A generally beloved (late) musician vs Kanye. Their quotes/"arrogance" are almost identical!

I'm with ya, I'm a massive Kanye fan. I always go back to Late Registration, for me the whole album is solid and I love how much instrumentation there is, layers on layers. I also think that his rapping the most impressive on that album. MBDTF is no doubt a masterpiece but I think what makes it so good is all of the contributions from other artists on not only their guest spots but also what they contributed to the beats. Dropout is of course what knocked me on my ass first though. Like you said it's all gold haha

If I had to I would probably rank them: 1. College Dropout 2. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 3. Late Registration 4. 808's and Heartbreaks 5. Yeezus 6. Graduation
But like I said I love every one of them. And honestly 808's and Heartbreaks and Yeezus are probably tied for me.

Wow, our rankings are really different 1. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2. Late Registration 3. Yeezus 4. College Dropout 5. 808's and Heartbreak 6. Graduation At least we can both agree that Graduation is his weakest album.
