For those of you worrying about his setlist, I'd bet a ton of money that we'll get all of his hits at Roo. It's definitely a special venue and I can see a 30+ setlist for sure. So if you do t see "Daniel" on his previous setlists, I wouldn't be worried.
some that I'll assume we get Your Song Tiny Dancer Daniel Levon Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters Candle in the Wind Can You Feel the Love Tonight Don't Go Breaking My Heart Crocodile Rock Benny and the Jets I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me Honky Cat Im still Standing Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Rocket Man Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting Border Song The Bitch is Back Philadelphia Freedom Someone Saved My Love Tonight Sad Songs(say so much) I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That Circle of Life Sacrifice Believe Blesses Something About the Way You Look
probably get these covers Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds Pinball Wizard
I think a lot of folks will be walking away from this set praising it. I know a lot of the younger crowd is currently writing it off but this set has a decent shot at rivaling Maccas from last year. It depends on how Elton connects with the crowd, I think it'll be great.
He played Daniel when I saw him. I personally hope he plays Levon, Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters, Don't let the Sun go down on me, Can you feel the love tonight, I guess that's why they call it the blues, Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, The bitch is back, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, Your song, Candle in the Wind, Someone Saved my Life Tonight, Crocodile Rock, Saturdays Alright for Fighting, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Daniel. Those are the songs I am looking forward to the most. I wouldn't be totally upset to hear "Something about the way you look tonight" either.

I can't wait for this. He is the #1 artist for me and the main reason I'm taking a detour to go to 'Roo. I travel a lot for work, to Vegas at least twice a year (I live in the SF Bay Area), and somehow my trips have never synced up with his residency there. Super psyched for him and Damon Albarn.
My wife is not the extended camping type so she probably won't ever get to Bonnaroo unless i get an RV someday. With that being said, she is more jealous of me going this year because of Elton John than she has ever been in past years. Since we heard the news, I've had her pull out the Elton John sheet music and we have been having singalongs with our piano
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Just a friendly fun reminder than Elton does indeed provide backing vocals on Kanye's "All of the Lights." Though perhaps insignificant to some, maybe this could mean a collaboration of epic proportions, even if its only a couple of measures

It's my sincere hope that whoever brought the giant Jeff Goldblum head in the pit at Tom Petty last year brings a Tony Danza head this year. Please and thank you.
Another reason to love Sir Elton, I couldn't agree with him more. This is exactly why I don't care to see a lot of the pop stars that have been mentioned on Inforoo.

I'm trying to get over my disappointment with Elton as the headliner, besides the Lion King soundtrack, I see his music as a bunch of sappy, self indulgent love songs without much ubstance. Is there anything out there that would change my mind?

Madman Across the Water and Honky Chateau are good as well and neither is sappy. He's done a couple of concept albums as well that didn't really have hit so to speak but are great albums. I haven't seen elton for over a decade but based on my last few exposures back then I can't believe he's slowed down much and they were all amazing shows.

Awesome show and my truly only disappointment is that he didn't play for 6 hours. Glad he did Alice (my personal request that he obviously noticed) and focused on YBR but I was surprised he didn't dip into Tumbleweed Connection with the TN influence. I hope he continues to tour and do more fests. He's only 6 years older than me and seems to be holding up pretty well.
It was just ok. He sounded good and seemed to be enjoying himself. Everyone seeme to be having fun as well, but he did not do anything amazing. The stage set up, light show, and visuals looked like they were put to together by 6th year ITT Tech student. The show wasn't bad, but it sure wasn't anything special and that sucks bc I was really looking forward to it

He opened with motherfucking Funeral for a Friend.
I thought he was great and sounded good. I wasn't expecting him to put on the most amazing performance by any means so I enjoyed myself very much. Great way to end the festival.

But, Friday's headliner setup was incredible, right?

I had fun at this set. I was hoping for hand waving and just laid back atmosphere but what I found was 19 year old still raving their asses off. So everyone around me thought they were still at the skrillex superjam and it was awkward.
I did enjoy singing tiny dancer and rocket man with 80k of my closest friends, including Elton himself.
He looked pretty good. The last few times I've seen him on something, he looked a little old but last night he was looking good.
Also, the young folks behind me didn't get the rocket man reference on the back of his jacket until the song came on and I heard 'Ohhhh rocket man is a song!'
