It was just ok. He sounded good and seemed to be enjoying himself. Everyone seeme to be having fun as well, but he did not do anything amazing. The stage set up, light show, and visuals looked like they were put to together by 6th year ITT Tech student. The show wasn't bad, but it sure wasn't anything special and that sucks bc I was really looking forward to it
Strongly disagree with everything said.
Was my first time in the Bonnaroo pit after 6 years and it was magical.
Loved seeing Elton, highlight of my weekend and one of my favorite shows this year. Bringing out Ben Folds was awesome. Sad that Elton had to deliver the news about Shaggy dieing. The crowd singalong to Crocodile Rock at the end seemed like such an appropriate end to the festival.

I was way in the back and pretty tired. I'm sure the energy was much better in the pit. From my point of view it was just missing something. Again, I'm not saying it was a bad show. At points I was really enjoying it. Just not a great show. Also we were joking while watch the graphics in your pic and all agreed it looked like something from a political campaign or convention. The video on the back screen just looked so amateur the entire show.

I had fun at this set. I was hoping for hand waving and just laid back atmosphere but what I found was 19 year old still raving their asses off. So everyone around me thought they were still at the skrillex superjam and it was awkward.
I did enjoy singing tiny dancer and rocket man with 80k of my closest friends, including Elton himself.
He looked pretty good. The last few times I've seen him on something, he looked a little old but last night he was looking good.
Also, the young folks behind me didn't get the rocket man reference on the back of his jacket until the song came on and I heard 'Ohhhh rocket man is a song!'
Were they like getting in the way and bumping into you and stuff? I'm trying to picture the skrillex/elton overlap in my head that would ruin your experience.

I think my favorite part of his set actually had nothing to do with Elton John. I had watched Sir Buzz Lightyear flying around the festival for a couple days, impressed by his floating bravura. I saw him floating again at Elton's show, and while Elton was playing 'Rocket Man' I witnessed Buzz finally cut loose and float off into the atmosphere like the true Rocket Man he was born to be. Bonnaroo magic.

I was right where it was released. Before that the great fun was hitting the balloon with glow sticks.
Eltons show was good, but not my best of the weekend. I like aging rock and pop stars, but Eltons set wasn't what I expected. Maybe I was wanting to much energy, idk. Maybe I was just shit ass tired
^i say tired. Of all the sets I watched on the live stream, this was by far the best set. It sounded great, Elton was spot on and with the graphics in the background, I was highly impressed. Flying over earth during rocket man and the sun flares. WOW!! Maybe the vibe there was different, but I thought he killed it.
I can only think of one blemish. Last song, Crocodile Rock, towards the end of the song, hands waving, people singing, Elton gets off the piano to work the crowd and seems to be enjoying only the crowd singing, and then out of queue it sounded like the drummer started early, then abruptly stopped, there was an awkward pause, the large LED screen went black. Elton jumped back on the piano, sang the last verse and finished the set. I would not have noticed it, but after Elton got back on the piano, the evil eye he was giving told the story, someone quacked up. Anybody notice this?

This was a really great set. Not top 5 and maybe not even top 10, but there's something special about getting to see him. Not much energy from where my group was at in the field, but what you can say?
Near the back, in the grass a little bit to the right of the exit gate, there was a group of people who joined hands together and ran/danced around in a circle, and then brought it in and high fived one another that I managed to get in on. It was going on during the encore, not sure if anyone noticed it. One of my favorite moments of the weekend for sure.

You should have went right behind the camera stand (or whatever that structure is) where its empty. I'm fearful that I was a part of the "raging skrillex group" mentioned at the top of this page, but we were swaying, singing, and especially dancing like fucking idiots through the entire thing. People were walking out to leave and when they passed they'd either smile, laugh or join in. A few people even told us we completed their weekend for them after they danced with us. By the end of Saturday nights alright it was a big time dance party including a guy on a trash can and maybe 25-30 others going nuts to finish off the fest. I do feel bad if we made it awkward for others. In the grand scheme of things we may have inhibited a small part of a few peoples lives, but we were having one of the best times of ours. I will never forget how funky and emotional we got at that show. Every single person in my group bravely admitted that this year's Roo was the greatest experiences of our lives and hugs, high fives and I love you's were all around during Tiny Dancer. It wasn't the best show I've ever seen by a long shot. I wasn't even anticipating it that much for some reason even though I'm very familiar with his music and absolutely love much of it. However, this was the most fun I've ever had at a show and it solidified that this was the greatest time I've ever had. It just all happened for me this year... and I'm saying this even after I blacked out and forgot much of my #1 act.

This was so perfect
Top 5 moment of this years fest for me. That brought so much joy to me for some reason. Kudos to whoever planned it.
Watching the live feed of Elton's performance, I could of sworn I heard him say "That's why they call it, Kanye, that's why they call it the blues". Still not sure if that is really what he said?
