Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
It's going to be tough for me to decide between this and Roo, because if I go to Roo this year I'm probably going to be going solo. I did that a couple years ago, and though it was fun, I've never been to a big fest with a group of friends before, and I feel like that would be enough to keep me local at Firefly. I'm superstoked for Chance the Rapper, twenty one pilots, and to a lesser extent, City and Colour (missed them in 2012), but honestly I'm not crazed by much of this lineup. I'm sure I'd still enjoy going, but if Roo gets Chance as well, plus NMH and maybe a couple other bands I wouldn't see otherwise...well, it's going to be tough decision.
Its funny how people are having polar opposite reactions to the lineup. Firefly is a new festival, and its gonna take a few years before it becomes a Coach/Lolla/Roo caliber festival. For Firefly standards this is a really good lineup. I think im sold on skipping bonnaroo this year to make this easier trip. We'll find out in a few weeks time, but something tells me this is one of the few (if not only) US festival Foo Fighters will do this year. The only complaint I have so far is that for a 4 day festival, that lineup looks kinda short.
It's not that surprising. Those of us who have been attending festivals and reading music blogs/messageboards for a while now find this lineup boring because these are the same acts that appear at festival after festival as well as the acts that are pushed down our throats by mainstream radio. A lot of us like seeing some deeper, more unique, less radio friendly acts on the lineup (the Nick Caves, Replacements, etc. type of acts)
On the other hand, this lineup is great for a festival first-timer and/or someone whose extent of alternative music is what they hear on the radio.
Now that's not to say that one of these two groups are better than the other. It's just why there's such a variance in opinions. In fact, I bet those of you in the second group will fall into the first group in a few years if you continue to visit this message board and travel to music festivals.
As for the defense that this is because it's a new festival, I don't buy it. Firefly actively chose to pick fluffy radio-friendly rock bands for the lineup. Mountain Oasis, Osheaga, Outside Lands, and Governor's Ball are all newer festivals that have had less-safe, slightly more creative lineups.

Welcome to the world of curfews. Its the thing that will make you go to Bonnaroo in 2015.
Ive been to Lollapalooza and Governors Ball, which had a 10pm and 11pm curfew, respectively. Whats the curfew at Firefly? I thought I read that it was like 2am, which if true is fine by me.
The "late night" music goes until 1am so 2am on Friday & Saturday.(Guessing Thursday will be a 11pm shutdown like Sunday)
On those figures, Bonnaroo has about 10-12 hours more music then firefly does, as well as the freedom to roam the full grounds and not be confided to camp/a hotel.

Looking for VOLUNTEER INFO...I'm really thinking of volunteering, if anyone has any info on how it is compared to other fests than feel free to personal message me! I've volunteered at other music fests btw...also I've read the volunteer info on the website.
Oh, for the casual "not going to travel more than 2 hours from where I live" festival fan? It's perfect. Lots of faux-indie radio stuff that kids in neon sunglasses go wild for. It's just boring as hell. Aside from Outkast (and, weirdly and randomly, Son Lux) there's nothing even remotely interesting on here, and no bands that haven't been everywhere over the past 12 months.
Courtney Barnett and James Blake tho. They seem so random on this linep
I keep reading people say James Blake, but I cannot find him on the lineup.

Much disorganization lol
I love that comment considering the doge picture haha
I've read that Firefly volunteers work three 5-7 hour shifts during the fest...is this par for the course for volunteering at festivals? I'd be happy to help, but I feel like I'd miss a decent amount - especially if there's no pre- or post-fest option. However, I also read a blog in which someone only worked one 4-hour shift. Is there any flexibility in what shift you get? Can you request to switch or work with a friend?

The general rule of thumb for volunteering is that you're taking the spot of someone they'd have to pay $10 an hour for. So if the price of a ticket is $240 you'll probably end up working four 6 hour shifts or three 8 hour shifts. You usually don't have a say for which shifts with most fests, but I'm not sure about firefly.

Working firefly (as in getting paid) was either two 12 hour shifts or one 20 hour shift. I dont think you have a choice in the matter also. But yes, usually once majority of the attendees are in they hand it over to volunteers and the paid companies usually are out and on to the next festival to prep.

They seem like the curveball addition, but I am absolutely stoked that Third Eye Blind is going to be there. I just put their album 'Blue' on for the first time in like 6 years. I forgot how much I loved it.
Anyone know how long it took to sell out last year? Thinking hard about going this year, but I don't want to commit until I see what Roo had to offer. I doubt it will sell out by feb 19, but who knows

If I remember right it didn't sell out till April last year. And whats more their were tons of scalpers on site selling 3 day passes as low as $70.
Anyone know how the weather compares to Bonnaroo. Is there more or less shade. I don't think I will be able to convince the wife to do Bonnaroo this year but Firefly should be doable since she has never been to the area before and likes traveling to new areas.
If you're not camping, are you allowed in the camping area during the day? And is the main festival area (equivalent to Centeroo) open all the time? Because I only live a little over an hour away...I could see myself hoppin' over to a buddy's camp for food during the day and then either go home to sleep or just sleep on the ground somewhere if I'm too zonked to drive.

Im pretty sure wristbands dictate if you can enter camping and the "centeroo" of firefly has music till I believe 11pm weekdays and sunday and 1am on sat. & sun. After music stops you have an hour to clear out and A)Leave B) Go to camp grounds

Crap I didn't realize you have to pay for camping here. For people who have gone and camped in the past, how big is the campsite? If we have a group of 5, is the campsite big enough for two tents? Also do you need to buy the camping pass with your ticket, or can I buy it at a later date?

I have no idea why but it won't let me edit the above post. The campsite is a decent size. You camp in front of your car and we had enough room for a 4 person tent and a popup. I believe the people next to us had 2 smaller tents set up with some extra space. The camping was well organized with marked areas too. Keep in mind I was also in "front row camping" which is known as "premier camping this year". It's only $20 or so more and it's well worth it if you can arrive on Wednesday- you avoid all the traffic issues, are significantly closer to the main gates, and get an extra night of camping/partying.
