Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Speculation: Sorry if this has been brought up before. Any chance Lionel Richie headlines Sunday? He's off that day sandwiched between Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and Montreal the following day.
Interesting. Folk enough? (I see his latest duets album is entirely with country singers). It's worth noting that he does not have a stretch on his entire tour where he plays 4 nights in a row; if he played Sunday, it would make 4 nights in a row for him.
I wouldn't bet on it, unless it was a last minute surprise. Mohegan and Mansfield are too close, and the booking fee is probably far too high for Newport's budget.

I really love that Forecastle line up. But I am afraid it's going to look very similar to Newport when all is said and done (or at least the acts that I really want to see aside from Outkast, Jack White (maybe at Newport?), tune-yards (maybe at Newport?), and Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks).

To be honest, I'm considering going to Forecastle instead of Bonnaroo and NFF. I'm seeing a lot of overlap as well, but I want to make sure I see Outkast sometime this summer, which wouldn't happen if I went to Shaky Knees, Bonnaroo, and NFF. If I could swing it, I'd do SK, Forecastle, and NFF, but I can't do back-to-back weekends. Decisions, decisions.....
Some guy/gal: "are the headliners Band of Horses, Mavis Staples and Nickel Creek or have they not been announced yet?"
Newport Folk Festival: "we don't really subscribe to the term headliner… We can say the MAVIS & FRIENDS 75th B-day celebration will close the festival."
I guess we can expect something pretty big from the Mavis & Friends set. Still hoping for Tweedy. Bobby D would be nice! Although, Mavis is a step down from Beck
It's also interesting that they didn't make mention of Band of Horses closing out Friday.

Less excited for Mavis than I was for Beck but I agree that it should probably be a big set with lots of friends. Now I'm really expecting Tweedy and if he gets added I'll be so happy.
I would of been very excited for Beck had I gone last year, but a Mavis & Friends Birthday set has the possibility to be a very unique and fun set. No chance for Dylan, but there are a million other friends that could show up.
Also I'm pretty sure that means Band of Horses and Nickle Creek are not closing their respective days.
I must say I have never really been into Mavis (outside of Christmas Vacation being my favorite Christmas song). But I've been demo'ing her latest album with Tweedy, and it's REALLY good. I would like it a lot more if I could just get the notion out of my mind that I was never a big fan of her music.
Has anyone listened to Spanish Gold? I'm starting to think that they'll be on the lineup given that it's an MMJ sideproject (Patrick Hallahan). Not sure how folky they are, but they've been announced for Pickathon and Forecastle.
