Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Saturday main stage act according to the profile. Also, they're planning something special for this show.
"We are delighted to announce that we will make our Newport Festival Main Stage debut in 2014. We can’t wait. We have a special show planned for you. We’ll see you there, amigos!"

This was fantastic news. I must admit, while I love the lineup, outside of Nickel Creek it had yet to wow me. Maybe I'm just being picky because I'd easily pay to see 11 out of the 13 bands listed on Saturday, but most of the bands are bands that I've seen before and/or constantly tour. Maybe that's just the reality of folk music (kind of like jam music, these bands make their living on touring). However, The Lonesome Trio was a great unique addition for me; as I said earlier, I've been really hoping to catch Ed Helms live since I first saw him announced for Bonnaroo last year. Outside of the fact that I still don't have any plans to see Outkast this summer, and I really hope to be able to change that somehow, I'm really happy with my decision to return to Newport (not to mention the amazing atmosphere and all of you guys!)
So with that comment, I might as well take the time to list my first top 10: 1. Nickel Creek 2. Band of Horses 3. The Lonesome Trio 4. Puss N Boots 5. The Oh Hellos 6. Willie Watson 7. Dawes 8. Gregory Alan Isakov 9. Reignwolf 10. Shakey Graves Honorable Mention: Trampled by Turtles (would be higher if I didn't have plans to see them at a free gig this summer already; but no complaints here!)

OH HELL YEA! IT'S HAPPENING
Please help us welcome Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco) to our 2014 lineup; be sure to check out the special message from our friend Mavis Staples, who is very excited to have Jeff join in on her birthday celebration!

Jeff Tweedy is not only a vital figure in our ever evolving music scene, he’s also a keeper of it’s history. His multigenerational and multi-genre work is perhaps most evident in his collaborations with Mavis Staples, so it’s no wonder why the two have become fast friends. It goes without saying that we’re thrilled to welcome Jeff to our 2014 lineup, and based on what Mavis has to say, she is too:
“Hey everybody, this is Mavis. Have you heard the news? My dear friend, Jeff Tweedy, is coming to Newport to help me celebrate my 25th birthday. Ohhh, did I make a mistake? Ah yes, it’s the 75th, isn’t it? Well listen, it feels like the 25th to me. Now listen: I’ll only be 75 once (I think) so I want all of my friends to come out and dance with me. I’ve got some new steps- because I’ve got these new knees! Uh-huh…and Tweedy’s going to cut a step too. Ok! I’m looking for your face in the place- everyone come on out…Happy Birthday to me!”
I'm thinking Conor will close the stage in the fort. Seems equivalent to Andrew Bird and Colin Meloy.
Have other acts gone from the main stage to the smaller stage in previous years? I was expecting Conor to be the main stage since he pre-headlined the last time and I'll be disappointed if he and Tweedy conflict.
I'd guess about 15. That way there'll be 10 on Friday, 20 on Saturday, and 20 on Sunday. Is that what we had last year? Right now we have 9 on Fri, 13 on Sat, and 13 on Sun.
They also like to announce kids acts and buskers. Not sure if they factor into the total or not.
If you aren't factoring in the kids acts and buskers, it's a little less than 20. At least if you're going off last year. It was 12 on Friday, 17 on Saturday and 17 on Saturday. So 11 more?
I hate to be that guy, but not only does Jack White's tour leave him available for Friday and/or Saturday night of Newport (albeit, it's a little out of his way), but Benjamin Booker will be his opening act on his tour and is already announced for Saturday at Newport (so I guess it's not too far out of his way!)
I can't think of a much better day in my life than one that includes Nickel Creek -> Jack White. Maybe Chris Thile getting invited out for Dead Leaves?

Damn you beat me to it. But yeah I proposed it earlier, and now I'm almost certain he's headlining. It just makes so much sense. My hope is that he might do a slightly more acoustic oriented show for the Folk audience which would be an awesome change-up after seeing him at 'Roo. The fact that there's no New England date and that he's available and kind of nearby (Playing Philly the 27th) just points so much to a Newport headlining spot. Please festival gods. Do this for me.
