Woah. What is that beer? Narragansett? I think I remember trying their basic brew at QC. But I've recently come to the conclusion that milk stout is my favorite type of brew, so that looks amazing.
Speaking of which, a few breweries around me just started canning. My first thoughts? "I can't wait to take a case of these to a festival this summer and share with everyone!"
One of the local delicacies in RI is coffee milk (like chocolate milk but substituted coffee syrup) and the hands down favorite local coffee syrup is Autocrat. People here ship bottles of it to their retired relatives in Florida so they can get their coffee milk fix. So what LD is drinking is about as RI as you can get - an Autocrat infused Narragansett milk stout. If you drink one you start pissing Del's frozen lemonade.

Mmm... Is it sold all year round? I'll have to try some on my next trip to RI.
Any other folkies here going to see Pete Seeger accept the Woody Guthrie Prize celebration and concert in NYC? it's on 2/22, and very good tickets are still available!

I love our 'private' little thread.
Quacker and I went to NYC between xmas and new years to meet up with THE elusive California spotted owl aka BillyPilgrim and his lovely family. I came home with the flu/cold after showing my gratitude for a fantastic day/night by puking repeatedly in their rental bathroom sunday morning. finally starting to rally now, Quacker hit flu/cold rock bottom yesterday so hopefully he will start to rally soon too.
We have tentative plans to go back to NYC early February to see a taping of the Colbert Report.. That will be more than enough NYC for us for a bit.
Quacker and I assess and make decisions on QC usually feb/march... Even if we opt out of "Quack Club" there is always room here for friends to stay. The difference being would be "Taco Hell is up the street, here's a map to get to Newport, there's the washer/dryer, etc". I'm fairly comfortable saying there will be some form of QC this year however it will probably not involve quite the level of 'customer service' as years past due to some other $$ things on the to-do list this year.
Considering that last year this was arguably the the best week of my life, I will be back this year if yall decide to it again . . . . . except this time I may not leave

Glad to see I'm not the only one that considers that the best weekend of the year for sure, and one of the best of my life! QC/NFF is something special - I think about it quite regularly and just smile to myself.

The beer? It just got released less than a month ago, and is presumably a limited time only deal. Not sure if it'll become a seasonal release in the future. I may have to go look for some more, and stash it until the summer for QC.
I am buying a presale ticket this year. Even if I can't go I know some inforooster will be happy to take it off my hands.
Same here. It's just easier that way. Last year was painful when I saw the lineup and had to try and find a ticket.
Yea. I fully expect the festival to sell out earlier this year (the fear of a sell out should cause it to sell out even earlier). I will be grabbing a ticket right away and waiting to see if I can indeed make it happen again.
Do you guys think they'll do the band a day roll-out again? It seemed to catch a lot of flak last year, but I would think if they're going to start selling tickets in January it's their plan to do so again.

WHEN WILL THE SCHEDULE BE POSTED? The 2014 schedule will not be posted until this summer.

Hopefully that is just the schedule and not the lineup, but with Newport who knows?
Yea, if it is going to sell out with or without the lineup, then I guess they can hold it back (and may use that as a way to attract bigger artists). Although, I'm sure they'd hear from a lot of restless people; I can't be the only one who justifies a music festival ticket cost by what tour stops I can skip (although that's what they'd be trying to prevent).
Outside of Jack White, I'm REALLY hoping Tallest Man on Earth finds his way back to the fort. I still don't know how I have yet to see him.
The Middle Brother album has soundtracked quite a few of my runs (I know, not really an album that one would associate with exercising, but I think it adds to the fact that most of my runs are through a secluded, wooded park); I would love to see them.
Let's see if I can create a top 10 wishlist (the top 3 are all pretty interchangeable with respect to rank):
1) Tallest Man on Earth 2) Jack White 3) Neutral Milk Hotel (I slept on a ticket to their show and it not surprisingly sold out ) 4) Middle Brother 5) First Aid Kit 6) Ryan Adams (he would be higher it he wasn't so unlikely) 7) Fleet Foxes (do they have any tour plans for next summer?) 8) Kacey Musgraves (maybe a little too country for NFF, but I love her) 9) Beirut 10) Damien Rice (although someone asked about him on NFF's Facebook and they responded that they don't think he knows they exist)

Does anyone know if this has been debunked? Could make for the perfect headliner at Newport.
In 2012 Watkins was there solo and Thile was there with Punch Brothers. I know Thile loves Newport so I cannot conceive of them reuniting and not being there. What better venue for them to play than Newport? But I'm pretty sure LD is right in that they wouldn't close on the Fort stage. If they show I will be at whatever stage they play on.
Headliner might be a stretch. The closer for the stage inside the fort? Pre-headliner? Certainly in the realm of possibility.
I'd go check it out, depending on what else was playing at the time.
Hasn't John Prine headlined? I would argue that they're more popular than John Prine. Would be one of the few artists to play Newport with a platinum album (although I guess the Lumineers did it and didn't headline). Not to mention they'd get a strong reunion bump and the familiarity bump (their side projects have played Newport a few times).
But, you are right, I guess they could be relegated to a pre-headliner position as well. I can't really judge their legacy, but they were starting to be featured EVERYWHERE while they were a band before they decided to temporarily call it quits.
itm: What's your take on Simone Felice? I really like this song and am looking forward to the new album. I'm kind of hoping he's this year's Father John Misty. I would also think he'd be a welcome addition to the NFF lineup this year.
EDIT: Is he channeling a Dylan song (or two) in this? I swear I keep hearing Dylan-esque refrains (or maybe it's just because he sings "baby blue" in the first line).
