Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Just got back from Vermont. Quacker's son got married this weekend.
Now we can turn our focus to see if there is still interest in Nonnaroo for those of us that cant go this year and start to get a handle on QC.
To bring Bacon up to speed we improved the transportation a bit since last you came. Folks going to after shows are on their own getting to and from day and night. The car pooling worked well last year for everyone but Katy Mae who went over the bridge three times. (seriously she did) Assumption is the numbers will work and we will have one 16 passenger van for the strictly NFF day folks. We try to arrange for one different responsible driver each of the three days, and the van WILL leave on time to get there with time to get to the first set. If you are not on the van, you're on your own.
We will be doing airport runs to get and return our out of staters as usual. Please let me know as you get flights booked. Early birds can borrow one of our cars to go sight seeing if they want before or after NFF.
Kerri from FLA/Wannee might be going to the heartbreak B. She mentioned an interest. I'll check. Some of you met her last year when she visited QC. She's the crazy fun nurse (not the uptight cousin) that's good friends with Scrog.
Will post the same over on FB. Please post or PM and let me know if you are coming to QC, what day you thing you might arrive/leave, just you or plus one, and if plus one will plus one be sharing your sleep space. We might have more couples this year.. someone's might be sleeping in the new shed.
Really hope we will get to meet everyone on this thread before the weekend is over!
Does anyone else feel like these announcements are so unorganized this year?

I'm actually happy with this year's announcements. Last year they made band announcements on random days. This year everything was fairly routine up until the last week of announcements (my only complaint is that the last week of announcements was sporadic). Ideally I'd like more info on when to expect the last announcements, but Newport keeps us way more in the know than a lot of other fests.
I was just annoyed with the fact that they are taking so long to finish the announcements off.
Anyways, I just saw that David Gray released dates today and he is playing Boston August 1.
Could you see him at Newport?
I wouldn't necessarily call that unorganized though. They specifically told us that they weren't able to announce the remaining acts at this time. I'm sure as soon as they get the go ahead, they'll let us know. They ran a poll a few years back asking if people would be okay with not knowing a headliner or two until closer to the festival if it allowed them to book bigger acts and most responses were positive. The festival sells out partially blind anyways, so it's not like holding up a few acts has much bearing. Other small festivals do this all of the time. Governor's Ball didn't release Guns N Roses with its initial lineup last year. Boston Calling had to hold up the announcement of the Decemberists. 80/35 still hasn't announced its second headliner and the festival is July 4-5.
But I'm with you in the fact that I'm getting pretty anxious. I do load up Newport's Facebook page a couple times per day to see if there have been any updates. Part of my total festival experience comes in the months leading up to the festival as I listen to artists' albums and get myself psyched. I can't wait until I have a few more artists to add to the repertoire. I feel like I've played my Newport Folk playlist over 1,000 times already (I still love it, just am excited for a few fresh songs).

After listening to Jack White's new album, if there was any doubt in my mind that he's not the last headliner, it has been erased. It's drenched in folk music. So many fiddles.
Still confused as to why his announcement is being held up. It must be Gov Ball. If Lollapalooza's radius clause can expand from Chicago to Detroit, Madison, and Indianapolis, then Gov Ball's must be able to expand to Newport. I'm guessing Gov Ball also needs to have some tough radius clause rules because of the difficulty of running a festival in NYC.
Shovels & Rope just released two songs from their upcoming album, one of which can be heard here. And the whole album is available for preorder. Loving the sound of both of these songs.
Woo! Been waiting for them to release a track from the upcoming album. This will keep me excited while we wait for the last act or two to be announced.
there is one ticket available for the Saturday Deer Tick aftershow on the ticketpledge website. Strange since that was the night that sold out instantly, but it seems to have re-appeared.
Those of us Not going to Bonnaroo could really use a pick me up announcement on this rainy day.
PS K2B.. on spectrum there is a song thats started getting air play a lot. The female vocals are really ear catching! They call themselves FirstAidKit. We need to check out more. I think they fell off of our radar after NFF 2 yrs ago or was it roo?

Sorry I missed this, I will be there. I am on my own and can sleep anywhere. I'm not sure what my travel plan is and I probably won't solidify until after Roo. I will have a car and probably be coming in Thursday and leaving Monday. If the timing works out I can pick people up at airports Thursday too.
Just got my email saying my tickets have been printed and are on their way!
On that note, I will be arriving either Thursday night or Friday morning, and leaving sometime Monday. I will be bringing clam chowder and cookies again, if everyone if okay with that
What do I need to do to get Newport to add Lily & Madeleine to the schedule? They were added as an opener for Jeff Tweedy tonight about 3 days ago. I only found out about this after I arrived just in time for Tweedy. Their album has been on repeat for me lately and now I get to kick myself for finding out about a show of theirs in Pittsburgh hours after it takes place 2 times in the past month.

Yes! Do so! One of the acts that keeps eluding me. What I would give for FAK and Tallest Man on Earth to do a coheadlining tour and stop in Pittsburgh.

I saw Lily & Madeleine back in April and while the music was fantastic, they seemed a little awkward and quiet on stage, which I'm guessing is largely due to the fact that neither of them are older than 20. I would love for them to play Newport but there are other acts that I'd choose over them that put on a slightly higher energy or otherwise intense performance. But that L&M album is gorgeous and it blows my mind that people that young can write songs that good and perform them that well
LD, where do you guys do Trivia? I go on Thursdays to Enfield.
Mostly at a little seafood place right near the CT/RI line. Not very big, but we still have fun and like the people there. A couple times a year we play in a church basement in Brimfield, with our former teammates back when we played at Sturbridge Coffee House.
In hindsight, I'm kinda surprised I brought up the trivia thing. I might be thinking too much about it, but seemed odd to ask. I guess I'm just excited to see everyone up here again.
