Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I used to go to the wolf's den a couple times a year. They can draw some solid acts. I used to drink as much free beer as possible but i heard they stopped that so i haven't been back since the violent femmes gig in '07
I don't go down very often. I don't gamble and it's a little over an hour away.. and the really good acts you need to be there well in advance because the immediate area fills up quickly. While looking at the schedule, I also noticed that Hoobastank and Vertical Horizon are going to be there. I didn't even realize that they were still a thing? (not that I have ANY inclination to go mind you)
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Friday: Heartworn Highways Revisited: "Work in Progress" screening (seems to be a documentary about Newport Folk Fest) Saturday: The Ballad of Shovels & Rope
Last Edit: Jul 3, 2014 12:31:00 GMT -5 by k2b - Back to Top
Two years ago July, we set out to shoot this little film at this little festival in Rhode Island. Two years later, we’re beyond excited to screen the film this summer at the greatest folk fest on the planet, Newport Folk. newportFILM is presenting a work in progress screening in collaboration with the Newport Folk Festival on Friday, July 25th at 8:15 in the Casino Theater in Newport, RI. Tickets are limited, so get yours quickly. It will be a special opportunity to actually affect the outcome of the film. Q&A post film will be a real dialogue, which will most certainly spill over to Newport Blues Cafe, where Deer Tick kicks off night 1 of their 3-night epic run.
And BETTER yet:
newportFILM in partnership with Newport Folk Presents.
John McCauley of Deer Tick, Langhorne Slim, Andrew Combs, and director Wayne Price will be in attendance for a post-film Q&A.
7:00-8:15 - Cocktail hour, provided by SpikedSeltzer & Grey Sail Brewing 8:15 - Film begins
So Langhorne will be in Newport during the weekend! Late lineup addition? I am sure he'll be playing at least 1 of the after shows!
Milky Chance. Getting play on Spotify. Totally not my thing but it catches my ear every time. WTF? Flash in the pan or a creeper upper? They remind me of something throwback. Have not put my finger on it yet.
I am very much enjoying a slow and steady win (I hope) with The Lone Bellow. They continue to eek up their place on festie line ups this summer. Kodaline reemerged then seems to have faded again. Boo.
Hozier... wow just wowing me more and more and more. ALL OF YOU'S ( you's.. a horrible RI saying like nails on a chalk board.) DO NOT let me consume alcohol before Hozier. Have a thing about dark haired Irish Lads. Technically I'm still kinda sorta betrothed to an Irish fishing captain. He gave me his Titelist? golf hat and stole a kiss before my brother-in-law sent him on home. In Castletowne Bears that's engaged. NO booze before Hosier!
Edit: Quacker is THE love of my life and my one and only, but no booze before the Irish boy.
Milky Chance is added to my playlist. I'll let you know what I think!
Have you seen Kodaline's play count in Spotify? It's not shabby. I didn't realize they were that popular. They remind me of Snow Patrol.
I'm still surprised that Lone Bellow has not exploded into the scene. They're constantly billed pretty low on festival line ups. Their sound is great.
I'm still on a Jamestown Revival push. I actually caught them in concert about a week ago. Did any of you who trekked to the farm catch them there? I think they have some potential to get popular.

I caught one song ("Fur Coat Blues") from Jamestown Revival at Bonnaroo before I got in line for the pit for Jack White. But I saw their show in Boston the other week and they were awesome live. Definitely some potential to get big with another album. The Lone Bellow are the same way. They've been slowly on the rise but I think once their second album comes out they'll see a big increase in their fanbase.

Hey everyone, I'm selling one single day ticket for Friday. $68, exactly how much I paid for Ticketmaster. I posted it up on Stubhub, but I'd rather not sell it through them (I'm kind of desperate to get rid of it).

From your lips....
cgs how local are you? Boston based?
North Shore of MA. Just south of the New Hampshire border.
So is conor now going to get a poor reception with rape allegations coming down or possibly dropped from the lineup?
I doubt it. The rape allegations aren't new and he filed his lawsuit back in February. I saw him a couple of months ago and there wasn't any problems. I can't see why he'd be dropped from the lineup for an accusation from someone that supposedly has a history of that sort of thing.
That's good to hear i just saw the headline on cos who seem to be slipping lately. That just would have been a big loss for sunday's lineup i'm sure.
The headline is because Conor is asking that the judge declare him the winner in the defamation lawsuit considering the accuser has been silent since she accused him and has never shown up to any of the court hearings on the case. CoS's story does make it seem like it's a new piece of news but the accusation was back in December and the lawsuit filed in February so it's just something that they've been dealing with for a little while and want to be done with.
I'm pretty excited to see Conor Oberst. I've read that Jezebel piece that pretty much clears his name which makes me feel better about enjoying his music. And I am a BIG fan of his new album (I didn't like it at first, but it quickly grew on me). Dawes as his backing band is icing on the cake.

Yea, I enjoyed his new album a lot, too. I've seen the Dawes and Conor show and while I prefer the Felice Brothers as a backing band the Dawes shows rocked pretty well too so it should be great.

That's why i should read the article instead of cruising the headlines at work. I just remembered being mad that down dropped off the roo lineup a few years back and thinking i would have a similar reaction if i was going sunday and conor was dropped.
Did I mention that I WANT THE SCHEDULE NOW???? There's like two weekends to get the crying over with! Lets see if I can say this .. I LOVE MUSIC.. it's right up there with air and water. But i can balance it with all the other things in life and will see/hear less on NFF weekend to try to make the experience better for the QCers. This year, this line up.... "Ya'll" might starve at QC. Schedule NOW please!
I'm really surprised there's no schedule either. The organizers are usually fan-friendly and super responsive, so it's strange that we've heard nothing, not even answers to "when's the schedule coming" questions. Most importantly, the NFF seems to always try to be artist-friendly, and I think it does the bands a disservice to put the schedule out so late. I know I always do a flurry of new band explorations once my daily plan is a little more in place.
I was just thinking about this yesterday as well. I'm at the point that I have heard at least one album of everyone at least once, but I have started to delve a little deeper into some catalogs and relistening to albums that I enjoyed the first few times around... so really at this point I am just setting myself up for more disappointment by getting more into some artists that I might not be able to catch much of. If I had a schedule, I could try to stop teasing myself and focusing in on the artists that I feel more confident that I will see.
Also, all fingers and toes crossed that none of my must sees are on the Quad stage.

I actually like when everyone plays in the quad that i want to see. However i'm smashing my head against the wall because puss n boots is on the harbor stage. I totally could have offered my kingdom to norah.

Screenshots? I don't want to download an app....I hate that festivals force this stuff now lol. I like physical things....not draining my already weak battery.

Whaaatt??! You cray cray. I can NEVER get a vantage point at Quad. Harbor is usually not the crowded and you can either get up on the sides or there are a few spots of high elevation where you can see a direct view of the stage.

I would except there is no grid view, and it would take a 20-30 screen shots... it's only that horrible view by time/stage which are impossible to visualize conflicts and partial set possibilities on...
EDIT: I can actually get it in 10 or so, if you really want it, I can probably finagle it, but I assume they'll put online soon enough??
