Funny you mention them. I was going to say jack's abby which is brewed in mass, also by monks, and has recently been gaining some popularity. I was drinking the hoponius union on tap at quarters friday and enjoyed them while playing nba jam.
It's not brewed by monks. It's three guys in Framingham, one of them (Jack) is married to a woman named Abby.

Thought it was weird they mailed the Deer Tick after show tickets this year after being so strict at the door last year (ID check, no ticket). That said , now that I have those tickets I am looking to trade a pair of Saturday night for two to the Heartbreaker Banquet. Just to break things up, plus Shakey and Shovels overlap at the fest and I'm sure both will be at the Banquet. Nine days away!
Surprised there have been no more after show announcements regarding specific guests.
Did they mail tickets for the Jane Pickens shows? I have like 3 possible mail locations if they did and will need to be sure to pick those tickets up before I leave. But I think it's a will call only event.

Poster news for the Deer Tick after shows!
We’re pleased to offer you first dibs on this year’s special designs.
Original artwork designed and hand-drawn by Frank Germano of Man on Fire Design, and silkscreened by Steve Walters of Screwball Press. Three colors on 16? × 20? heavyweight stock.
T-shirt are unisex sizes S-XXL. White art on Dark Heather Grey T.
Note: We will make every attempt to get these created and shipped to the venue for show time pick-up, but if not, shipping will be included in the price.
The T-shirt looks like it's black and white but the same design.

As usual:
NPR Music will offer up a live audio stream of Ryan Adams’ headlining set at Newport Folk Festival on July 25. NPR will also record much of the main-stage lineup online and post them as archival recordings following the festival’s conclusion.
This year on the main stage, Mavis Staples, Ryan Adams, Jack White, Jeff Tweedy, Jenny Lewis, Conor Oberst and many more are scheduled to perform. The sold-out Newport Folk Festival kicks off July 25.
More detail:
The Newport Folk Festival has been around for more than half a century now — this is its 55th year, to be exact — and the event now routinely sells out months before its lineup is even announced. And why shouldn't it? On the main stage alone at this year's festival, which runs from July 25 to 27, Newport Folk will feature performances by Mavis Staples, Ryan Adams, Jack White, Jeff Tweedy, Jenny Lewis, Conor Oberst, Kurt Vile, Nickel Creek, Jimmy Cliff and many more.
Once again, 2014 will bring a strong NPR Music presence to the festival: On Friday, July 25, we'll broadcast a live audio stream of Ryan Adams' set from the festival's main stage. Over the rest of the weekend, we'll record much of the main-stage lineup online and tweet photos and observations from the festival grounds (@nprmusic on Twitter and Instagram, using #newportfolk).
While we're there, we'll capture unique Field Recordings that you'll see on NPR Music in the weeks to come, and we'll feature an archive of audio recordings from the festival stage. To get started on preparing for our coverage, you can download five songs from some of the Newport Folk's most exciting discoveries — from Anais Mitchell to Reignwolf — and bookmark this page for more to come.

I love that they do this every year and i constantly stream sets at work. I was listening to jason isbell, justin townes earl and the milk carton kids today cause i'm just excited that it's all happening next weekend. I wasn't sure if they would record ryan adams either cause they seem to not broadcast the headliners but this is great news!
RJ is calling for a beautiful fri/sat... This is goodness. Wed/thursday looking like ick. 97% of the time our channel ten gets it right for the east bay. When they miss it's bad... lets hope this is not one of those times.
I just had a feeling about the Wednesday and Thursday, to not entirely abandon my scheduled vacation time on those two days. I'll probably end up working half days on both.
Saw Tall Tall Trees last night locally. Mentioned him playing Newport a couple times during the show. It's a big deal for him and he's really excited so don't miss him and his banjotron 5600.

I'm looking for a ride if anyone could help me out!..the thing is I live in northwest Arkansas though..still, if anyone could help me out then I would be more than happy to offer up some gas money.
No mention of performances though. However, Squarespace is the sponsor of the On the Boat recording sessions that will feature Thao, Shakey, Hamilton, Tall Tall Trees, and 1 or 2 others.
A non-Inforoo friend tagged me in a post about the On the Boat recording sessions and I entered this morning for a chance to see Thao record:
Our friends Squarespace and The Wild Honey Pie want you to RSVP for a chance to board their boat at the festival to watch live recording sessions with some of our festival artists. Click here to RSVP: ontheboat.thewildhoneypie.com/home
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

For the past several years, Deer Tick takes over the town of Newport, R.I.'s Blues Cafe for their legendary Newport Folk Festival afterparties, which have featured such luminaries as Jackson Browne, Jim James, and Dawes. They're doing it again this weekend, bringing with them friends like Nashville singer-songwriter Caitlin Rose, the Walkmen's Hamilton Leithauser, and Trampled by Turtles. As usual, all proceeds from the ticket sales benefiting the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and the Newport Festivals Foundation.
"I can’t believe we’ve been doing this for four years now!" Deer Tick's John J. Macauley said of the festivities. "On the other hand, it feels like something we’ve been doing forever, in a good way. I think this might be our most stacked weekend yet. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our friends and playing and collaborating with them. There’s always the possibility of more surprises, too. The kind of stuff that even surprises us guys in Deer Tick."
If you didn't catch tickets to the 150-capacity events before they sold out (in two minutes!), artist-to-fan support platform PledgeMusic is giving away a pair every night via a Facebook contest. "PledgeMusic is both thrilled and honored to have been chose as the ticketing partner for this year's after parties," said the company in a statement. "This incredible series of Deer Tick and Friends shows is the perfect live event series to showcase the ticketing potential on our platform."
Check out the full lineup, watch KEXP's video of one of 2012's afterparties, and peep the PledgeMusic flyer below.
